Chapter 238: Fighting the Winter Snow Serpent

"Can you guys see the boss through this storm?" Solomon asked, shielding his eyes from the biting wind.

[1Fizzy: we cannot even hear you properly!]

[James_hayes: the wind is too loud!]

[Brerell: the screen is just white!]

[Mezz_3863: Solo Man wipe the snow off the lens!]

Solomon ignored the request and simply stared at the colossal creature. The Winter Snow Serpent coiled its massive, crystalline body entirely around the tallest peak in the range. The towering ice mountain looked incredibly small compared to the sheer length of the floating beast.

A biting chill seeped directly into the pristine steel of Eden’s Penance. The cold transferred rapidly into Solomon’s hands, stiffening his fingers until he struggled to maintain his grip on the heavy hilt.

His eyebrows crystallized with frost. His lips turned pale blue, and his lungs burned with every sharp breath of the freezing air.

Yet, the extreme physical discomfort did not distract him from the upcoming battle. He felt his adrenaline spiking, masking the agonizing cold.

"How am I supposed to fight something that massive when I cannot even track it properly?" Solomon muttered to himself. "Its scales are the same color as the storm. It is basically invisible unless it is moving."

He wondered what the penalty for breaking the rift’s law actually was. He attempted to pull a fraction of silver aura from his primary core, just to test the restriction.

However, absolutely nothing happened.

Solomon frowned. He could not feel his internal energy at all. It felt exactly like he was disconnected from his spiritual power. The rift had not simply forbidden aura usage, but it had severed his conscious connection to his own cores.

"I can still feel my shoulder and hip cores, though," Solomon muttered, testing his mobility. He shifted his stance on the powder and noticed his physical movements remained significantly enhanced by the recent biological expansion of his meridians, even without the active flow of qi.

From his hidden vantage point near the perimeter, the inquisitor watched the silver-haired boy stand frozen in the snow.

’Why is he just standing there?’ the inquisitor wondered, gripping the hilt of his concealed blade. ’He can still step backward out of the boss area. If that serpent is alerted even once, the barrier will lock and he will not be able to leave until one of them dies!’

Panic overrode the inquisitor’s tactical training.

"Solomon!" He stepped out from behind the frosted rock and shouted Solomon’s name at the top of his lungs to alert the boy and force him to retreat.

Solomon turned around, confused by the sudden voice echoing through the blizzard.

The loud shout ironically served a completely different purpose. The sharp noise pierced the howling wind, instantly alerting the colossal snow serpent. The beast uncoiled from the mountain peak, its massive jaws unhinging as it dove directly downward to crush the tiny intruder.

The inquisitor face turned pale for a different reason. He watched helplessly as the colossal beast crashed into the snowfield with the force of a falling meteor, kicking up a blinding explosion of powder before banking sharply and flying back up into the stormy sky.

The masked man dropped to his knees in the deep snow. He could not believe that someone he had tried to warn and protect ended up getting pulverized precisely because of his own desperate stupidity. However, there was no other way to alert Solomon either.

The violent cloud of snow slowly cleared.

The inquisitor expected to see a dead corpse, but instead, he gasped.

Solomon stood perfectly upright in the cratered powder, holding the pristine steel of Eden’s Penance straight out in a flawless defensive guard.

The serpent circled the sky and dove again. This time, Solomon was completely prepared. He anchored his boots into the frozen earth and decided to unleash his full physical strength from the very beginning.

He compressed his body weight and forward momentum into the tip of his weapon. Executing the fourth form of the Eden Imperial Sword Arts, Solomon thrust the greatsword upward to meet the descending beast.

The sheer physical force broke the sound barrier. A massive sonic boom erupted from the blade, entirely obliterating the falling snow and clearing a perfect vacuum in the storm’s path.

The colossal serpent’s head snapped upward violently upon impact, tossing its massive crystalline body through the air exactly like a hooked worm getting yanked out of a muddy pond.

[Tyler_Klare: WHAT IS HAPPENING?!]

[M00N: we literally cannot see anything!]

[Foodball: the camera is blocked!]

[Zoomtech: wipe the lens bro!]

The bronze owl had been completely buried in snow during the serpent’s initial crash, leaving the chat staring at a blank, frosty screen.

"I do not have the time to narrate the fight or protect the owl right now!" Solomon yelled over the howling wind, keeping his eyes locked on the recovering beast. "The drone might get completely destroyed in this storm. Do not worry about it! I will just ask the Grandmaster to give me a new one when I get back!"

[GoonLord: WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE DRONE!]

[Kaolafiedgamer: ARE YOU ALIVE?!]

[Fatal_Beauty: please stay safe Solo Man!]

[Stinosaurus: just survive!]

Solomon scoffed hysterically, a wild grin stretching across his freezing face. "You guys are missing out on the best view!"

The serpent stabilized its flight path and dove for a third time. Solomon adjusted his grip, fully anticipating another frontal collision.

However, instead of crashing down jaw-first, the beast flicked its massive rear body. The colossal, spiked tail whipped around from the blinding snowstorm, launching a devastating surprise attack from a complete blind spot.

The tail slammed directly into Solomon’s ribs.

The impact launched him through the freezing air like a ragdoll. He flew backward for hundreds of feet, crashing violently into the side of a nearby ice mountain.

Solomon groaned as the air left his lungs. He slid down the frozen rock face, desperately digging his freezing fingers into a narrow ledge to stop his fall.

He caught his breath and assessed the tactical situation. Even though the serpent could fly freely above the peaks, securing the high ground would make the battle significantly easier for him by limiting the beast’s attack angles.

Solomon hauled himself up onto the ledge and began climbing the sheer face of the mountain.

The colossal serpent recovered its momentum and began circling the mountain at an ever-increasing speed. It climbed higher and higher, eventually flying above the thick cloud layer and disappearing entirely into the raging snowstorm.

The beast was now completely invisible.

Solomon gritted his teeth and continued climbing up the frozen rock, his numb fingers struggling to find purchase in the ice.
