Chapter 239: Fighting the Winter Snow Serpent (2)

Solomon carefully climbed to the top of the mountain as he battled the raging storm, the howling wind growing more violent with every passing second.

He pulled himself onto the jagged summit and evaluated his physical condition. ’I spent the entire night cultivating and fell asleep after completely draining myself,’ Solomon thought, wiping frost from his eyelashes.

’Then I spent the entire day cultivating inside the carriage, burned all my aura climbing the first mountain with Yue, and spent the rest of the night exploring the ruined palace. I have not rested at all.’

Although his Indefatigable passive ability and the immortal angel heart worked relentlessly to convert his fatigue and heal his minor frostbite, the extreme environment was taking a heavy toll. At this rate, his hidden stamina tax would eventually bankrupt his biological reserves.

He might not be able to last much longer.

He grabbed the heavy hilt of Eden’s Penance and widened his stance, mentally preparing himself for the serpent’s inevitable strike from above the clouds.

"If that overgrown snake simply keeps itself hidden in the storm for another five minutes, I will literally freeze to death on this rock," Solomon muttered through chattering teeth. "Maybe I could last a few more minutes if I restrict my movements. Perhaps up to ten minutes if I avoid spamming the Imperial Sword Arts... which is completely impossible."

He let out a frosty breath. "The serpent itself is not the actual issue here. The freezing climate is forcing my talent to work in overdrive just to keep my blood pumping, rapidly consuming my stamina tax for absolutely no combative gain."

Just then, a massive, crystalline shadow breached the cloud layer before instantly vanishing back into the storm.

Solomon quickly spun around on the peak, keeping his greatsword raised to ensure the beast did not launch another blind-spot attack. Yet, tracking the monster remained nearly impossible.

The serpent’s entire colossal body functioned as a lethal weapon. It was so impossibly huge that it could easily coil around the entire designated boss area multiple times over.

Suddenly, the storm parted. The serpent dove straight down from the zenith, its massive jaws unhinging to swallow the summit entirely.

Solomon took a deep breath and anticipated the direct assault. Dropping his center of gravity, he utilized the ninth step of the Azure Crane Blade, executing a rapid downward chop against the icy ground to launch himself forward.

He slipped just outside the beast’s descending jawline, entirely avoiding the crushing bite.

As the massive crystalline body rushed past the summit, Solomon seamlessly transitioned into the second form of the Eden Imperial Sword Arts. He snapped his hips forward and unleashed a brutal horizontal sweep directly against the serpent’s thick scales.

The pristine steel sparked violently upon impact. The sheer kinetic force of the strike shattered a massive cluster of the beast’s icy armor, sending crystalline shards raining down upon the valley below.

The serpent shrieked, an ear-piercing screech that shook the mountain. It violently thrashed its massive body, attempting to crush the tiny human against the jagged peak.

Solomon utilized his Basic Acrobatics, bounding off the thrashing scales to stay airborne. He hopped from one section of the serpentine body to another, treating the colossal monster like a shifting, aerial staircase.

Down below, the masked inquisitor watched the impossible battle unfold with wide, awe-struck eyes. He simply could not believe what he was witnessing. A first-year novice without a single drop of aura was actively surfing across an A+ grade boss monster in the middle of a blizzard.

The serpent realized it could not shake him off. It abruptly banked upward, soaring completely vertical into the stormy sky.

Solomon lost his footing as the gravity shifted. He plummeted downward. The beast immediately looped around, descending rapidly to crush his falling body.

Solomon remained completely calm in mid-air. He adjusted his grip on Eden’s Penance and executed the eleventh step of the Azure Crane Blade. He utilized his falling momentum to spin his body entirely around, launching a perfectly timed mid-air horizontal slash just as the serpent’s snout entered his striking range.

The flat of the blade slammed into the beast’s nose, altering its trajectory entirely. The monster missed its target, crashing violently into the adjacent mountain peak and triggering a massive avalanche.

Solomon landed hard in the deep snow, his knees buckling under the impact. He coughed up a speck of blood, feeling a rib fracture before the immortal heart instantly knitted the bone back together.

The beast recovered from the avalanche and swept its massive tail across the valley. Solomon jumped over the sweeping attack, landing directly onto the moving appendage.

Knowing his stamina tax was rapidly approaching its limit, Solomon abandoned all defensive footwork. He sprinted straight up the length of the serpent’s back, spamming the fourth form of the Eden Imperial Sword Arts.

He compressed his momentum and unleashed a relentless barrage of high-velocity thrusts, driving the executioner’s sword deep into the beast’s crystalline spine with every single step.

The serpent shrieked in agony, thrashing wildly across the entire boss area. It smashed its own body through glaciers and collapsed entire mountainsides in a desperate bid to scrape the human off its back.

Solomon dug the blade deeper, holding on for dear life as the colossal beast abruptly launched itself straight up into the howling blizzard, completely disappearing into the dark, stormy sky with Solomon still clinging to its back.

Up above the storm, the chaotic blizzard vanished entirely. The sky was perfectly clear, painted with the vivid, shifting colors of a twilight aurora. The biting wind ceased, leaving only the rushing sound of the beast’s massive wings cutting through the thin air.

Without the blinding snow and freezing gales hindering his movements, Solomon felt his senses sharpen instantly.

The bronze owl had stubbornly clung to his shoulder strap during the chaotic ascent. Now free from the snow buildup, its crystal lens cleared, broadcasting the breathtaking, high-altitude arena to his audience.
