While purging the planets of the Crossing-Bridge Star Sector, Ye Liuyun sparred with mid-Ninth-Heaven experts and pushed his spatial power, heaven-and-earth force, and physical body to new heights. Lately, the quality of his divine essence and the reach of his divine sense had both improved as well.
Yet he knew perfectly well that a peak Ninth-Heaven expert’s divine essence was far too condensed. Even if he broke through another minor realm and the purity of his divine essence climbed another step, he still could not contend with a peak Ninth-Heaven master.
At his current stage, breaking through was not the problem. The real issue was that his soul, bloodline, flesh, and even the quality of his divine essence had all hit bottlenecks. Even after advancing in realm, further improvement would be painfully slow.
He had tried compressing these powers himself, but the pace was glacial. At this rate, it would take at least a year before he could absorb and raise them again.
“Forget it—time to use the Golden Source Liquid. No need to wait for the Taixu Realm.” Ye Liuyun finally made up his mind.
The remaining Golden Source Liquid had originally been reserved for his breakthrough to the Taixu Realm, yet now that he’d slammed into a wall, he could only spend the resource first and worry about the rest later.
Still, he took every precaution before attempting the breakthrough.
He waited until his first clone had finished collecting the planets. He stowed the demonic beasts and the women inside his spatial world to keep them safe from a possible imperial sneak attack during his ascension, then had Cui Daoran continue clearing bandits at the previous pace in their stead.
Next, he fetched the first clone, led it to the battlefield, and unleashed the demon army to cooperate with the Death Legion. After that, he brought along the second clone as well and returned with both to the main base hidden in the Desolate Sea World.
The base had remained untouched all this time. For a critical breakthrough like this, staying anywhere else would have been unthinkable; here, it was safest.
Once back, he had Long Nu patrol the perimeter with the two demonic flood dragons, then recalled Long Nu and stationed the dragons outside the trench as sentries.
Inside the base, he deployed five hundred elite soldiers at the Ninth Heaven to stand guard before entering the spatial world with his two clones. Together they stepped into the Golden Source Liquid pool, each clutching a star-sector origin just in case the energy proved insufficient.
Only half the pool’s Golden Source Liquid remained—barely enough for the three of them to sit submerged up to their necks.
With all three draining it at once, Ye Liuyun had no idea whether anything would be left for anyone else.
The instant they entered, they began to absorb furiously. Pure energy flooded their bodies, beginning with the soul.
His soul force had tripled recently after devouring three dragon souls and numerous cultivator souls, so its quality was now extremely mixed. The Golden Source Liquid rapidly expelled impurities; the soul’s form visibly shrank yet became ever more solid.
When the soul had compressed to half its former size, the purification finally stopped. The two golden-armored soul avatars now looked like living beings of solid jade, crystal-clear and flawless.
Ye Liuyun sensed that, at his current soul strength, he could swallow four or five more dragon souls. He could hardly imagine how terrifying his soul might become after that.
By then, the liquid level had already dropped to his neck—clearly a hefty consumption.
Next, the Golden Source Liquid cleansed their bloodlines. Like his soul, his blood had absorbed far too much lately: bloodline spirit beasts, blood spirit roots, true-dragon essence blood, and more.
He expected another steep drop, and indeed, after the bloodline purge the surface sank below his chest.
But the results surpassed expectations. His blood now shimmered with golden light, its dreadful pressure at least double what it had been before.
Suddenly, he felt within his blood an overwhelming battle intent and an indomitable heavenly will. All three of them lit up with delight.
“The bloodline has reached the Taixu standard!” They recognized the sensation; their blood power had stepped into the Void tier.
“So this is the might of the War God bloodline?” Even Ye Liuyun was shaken.
He estimated that, against a peak Ninth-Heaven cultivator, he could now suppress their strength straight down to the Eighth Heaven.
“We’ll have to keep this bloodline hidden in future battles,” the clone sighed, already slotting it away as a hidden trump card.
“Flesh and divine essence still remain. I wonder if any liquid will be left,” Ye Liuyun mused. He had hoped others might benefit, but that was looking unlikely.
The Golden Source Liquid moved on to purify his body. Fortunately, his flesh contained few impurities—likely because repeated battle injuries had refined it in advance.
He was just starting to feel pleased about saving more when his body began actively drawing in the liquid to temper itself. Now he worried whether enough would remain even for refining divine essence, let alone leftovers.
But his cultivation realm hadn’t advanced yet, so he couldn’t leave early; all he could do was ache inside while pushing onward.
The Golden Source Liquid, however, worked far better than he’d hoped. After the liquid refined and strengthened Ye Liuyun’s body, he felt the tell-tale signs of breaking through to the Void tier—results that surpassed every expectation.
Once his physique improved, the liquid’s level had already dropped to his lower abdomen. Ye Liuyun sighed; he no longer counted on leftovers—being able to use it at all was a blessing.
Fortunately, his divine essence was of exceptional purity. Consuming just over half of the remaining liquid doubled its quality. The rest began replenishing the quantity.
He glanced at the thin film of Golden Source Liquid coating the pool floor—clearly not enough for another person—so he simply drained every last drop. Then he slipped into his clone’s pocket world and began absorbing galaxy origin energy to break through.
With his divine essence now so refined, only a quarter remained in both of his core pellets. Refilling them took more than twenty days; only then did his realm begin to advance.
This breakthrough’s surge of divine essence was fiercer than any before. The sudden leap in quality overwhelmed several minor meridians, rupturing them instantly.
Thankfully, the core pellets and major channels held firm. Even the cracks that appeared were swiftly repaired.
