He contacted her at once, saying he had arrived and wanted a meeting.

Ye Liuyun didn’t know where she’d been; many buildings had arrays that blocked divine sense, and he didn’t pry. He simply headed straight for the Grand Princess Manor.

Before he got there, however, he spotted Jiang Yunmo leaving the chamber of commerce and racing toward her estate.

“Would’ve been easier to meet at the guild!”

He sighed, figuring any place was fine for a chat and that she probably just wanted to play host. Still, he slowed down considerately so she wouldn’t have to rush.

Yet when he reached her manor he was left cooling his heels in the reception hall for quite a while before Jiang Yunmo finally appeared.

She had changed into full princess regalia, every inch the royal, with several maids in tow.

Thanks to their equal contract, Ye Liuyun didn’t take offense; he even cracked a smile. “Bit over the top, isn’t it? I just dropped by for a quick word.”

Jiang Yunmo gave an awkward laugh, then straightened her expression. “I’m now the ruler of an entire system. A little formality lends authority—otherwise people won’t obey.”

Ye Liuyun merely smiled, not pointing out that she’d dashed home to change. He chatted as casually as ever. “I’ve been tied up clearing out bandits and waging campaigns. You moved here ages ago, and I never found time to congratulate you. The moment I was free, I came straight over to offer my best wishes.”

“Many thanks for your trouble, Lord Ye. I know you’re busy—please don’t worry about it.” Jiang Yunmo replied politely, but her tone made it clear she wasn’t looking for friendship; she meant to keep the high ground.

Ye Liuyun felt a flicker of doubt. Their contract was one of equals; he couldn’t dictate her attitude. Still, it left him disappointed.

So he cut straight to business.

“I also wanted to ask—do you happen to know Jiang Yuntian’s current location?”

“Oh? Are you planning to move against him?” Jiang Yunmo asked bluntly.

“Not necessarily. I just want to see how he’s doing.” Since she insisted on keeping her distance, Ye Liuyun saw no need to tell her the truth.

Jiang Yunmo noticed the shift in him, but decided to keep up the act. If she ever wanted to subdue Ye Liuyun and make him follow orders, she’d have to let him grow used to this dynamic—bit by bit.

She gave him a set of coordinates without hesitation.

“That’s where he was two months ago. If you teleport there, even if he’s moved on, he shouldn’t be far.”

“My thanks.”

Ye Liuyun saw that the coordinates matched exactly what he’d extracted from the minds of captured soldiers. Evidently Jiang Yuntian hadn’t advanced in the past two months—likely his army had taken too much damage to risk another push.

Once Ye Liuyun had the coordinates, he had no intention of keeping up the charade with Jiang Yunmo and was ready to take his leave.

But Jiang Yunmo detained him. “Mr. Ye, I happen to have two matters to discuss with you. Please stay a moment and hear my proposals.”

“Very well, Your Highness—speak,” Ye Liuyun replied, seeing her expression turn serious. He sat back down at once.

Jiang Yunmo drew a long breath, as though steeling herself. “Mr. Ye, the first matter is this: I wish to dissolve our equal contract.”

She watched his face closely as she spoke.

Yet Ye Liuyun merely regarded her calmly, waiting for her to continue. He had never been desperate for this partnership; if she wanted to end it, he would not insist.

Still, that contract had been signed only because he had saved her life. If she wished to break it now, she would have to pay a price.

Jiang Yunmo could not read his thoughts and feared he might refuse to cooperate ever again. She hurried to explain, “You saved my life—I’m deeply grateful. At the time I was penniless and had nothing to offer in return, so we made that contract. Now I’m in a better position, and I’d like to dissolve it. In gratitude for saving me, I’m prepared to give you one Void-grade bloodline cultivation manual, ten Void-grade weapons, and a hundred galaxy essences. What do you think, Mr. Ye?”

Ye Liuyun considered; the terms were acceptable.

But he still asked, “Can I actually use a Void-grade bloodline manual? And who owns the Holyfire Chamber of Commerce? Do I still need to finish clearing the Crossing-Bridge Galaxy and keep troops stationed there? What about those hundred thousand soldiers?”

Seeing that he hadn’t rejected her outright, Jiang Yunmo relaxed a little.

She answered, “The Void-grade bloodline manual is absolutely usable. Our Fireseal Dynasty rose swiftly thanks to that very technique. Once I gained administrative rights over this galaxy, I qualified to learn it. The manual has no restrictions; I can transmit it to you directly.

“The Holyfire Chamber of Commerce remains yours—that was my promise. However, the aristocratic families I’ve recruited want to seize it for themselves. They dislike having another guild on their territory, so I must ask whether you’d be willing to sell it to them.

“As for the Crossing-Bridge Galaxy, you must help finish clearing it—only a few planets remain, per our original agreement. Your garrison will stay for now, but I’ll supply all their cultivation resources.

“Finally, the dynasty’s hundred-thousand-man army can remain as is; after all, you raised it. If you no longer want it, you may transfer command to me, and I’ll pay you a sum you’ll find satisfactory.”
