Chapter 627 - 403: Struggle

Chapter 627: Chapter 403: Struggle

The sudden attack caught Wang Shouhao completely off guard. Li Xiye was supposed to be completely spent!

He didn’t have time to think. He instinctively activated his Ability, instantly splitting the space around him into dozens of layers. He then retreated behind them, attempting to dodge the terrifying punch.

He had once used this very move to survive the blast of a super-nuke completely unscathed. After activating his Ability, he was no longer in the current dimension but in a displaced one, separated from reality by dozens of spatial barriers. Unless an attack could punch through all those barriers, it was impossible to hit him. And the Abilities of most Ascenders were incapable of deeply affecting space!

However, negated by the Tyrant’s Absolute Will, the dozens of displaced spatial layers shattered like panes of glass, rendered completely useless.

The Tyrant’s Fist crossed space and came crashing down.

BOOM!

Amidst an earth-shattering roar, Wang Shouhao’s body exploded into a rain of crimson dust and blood.

Afterward, frantic bolts of lightning shot out in all directions, like a thousand electric dragons dancing wildly. They struck the heavens, tearing patches of void into space itself. They swept across the earth, instantly carving a dozen great, canyon-like chasms of scorched black earth across a radius of several dozen kilometers.

Lightning crisscrossed, and for a moment, the area spanning dozens of kilometers transformed into a veritable Hell of lightning.

RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE~~~~~~~~~~

The rolling thunder, which shook one to their very soul, continued for a long while before subsiding. As for the Tier Four Uncrowned, Wang Shouhao, not a trace of him remained—body and soul utterly annihilated, with not even a speck of his pulverized remains to be found.

Blazing electric light shone in Li Xiye’s eyes. She reached into the void and pulled several items out of thin air:

a ball of unstable, transparent liquid that refracted the images of the world like a kaleidoscope; a very expensive-looking storage box; an academic cap; and a pair of scissors.

Li Xiye constructed a Thunder Prison to contain the unstable, ever-shifting transparent liquid, forcing it to solidify and stop changing.

Next, she probed the storage box with her Spiritual Power and found an Alchemy Potion called "Life Commemoration." It was an exceedingly rare and precious Recovery Potion; a single bottle was enough to restore a Tier Four Uncrowned to their peak condition.

Li Xiye crushed the alchemical seal, twisted off the cap, and downed the potion in one go. A dense wave of Life Force surged through her, mending her wounds. It was so potent that it even overflowed from her body, causing flowers to burst into bloom from the scorched earth at her feet.

"You... You’re all right?" the Ice Type Female Operator finally reacted, her jaw agape. ’Killing a Tier Four Uncrowned in a single punch... Is that the kind of power a seriously injured person should have?’

"I’m hurt, but not as badly as I looked," Li Xiye said as she fiddled with her newly acquired Artifacts.

Of course it was impossible to fight and kill two Tier Four Uncrowned without getting injured. However, her wounds were nowhere near as severe as she had made them seem. She had merely been putting on an act to create the illusion that she was on her last legs.

The goal was to bait a trap, to take out whoever was foolish enough to fall for it.

The results were fruitful. She had hooked a big one.

Erin glanced over at Zhou Chen and saw he was perfectly calm, as if he’d known all along that Li Xiye was acting. She muttered under her breath, "So devious..."

’And they never taught me that trick!’

Thanks to their connection through the Bonds Ring, Zhou Chen knew Li Xiye’s condition wasn’t nearly so dire. He’d guessed she was trying to bait someone and had played along. In the end, their haul was impressive.

He walked over to Li Xiye and asked, "Is the space here still being affected?"

"Mm," Li Xiye nodded. "The spatial turbulence doesn’t really have much to do with him. A large-scale Alchemy Matrix is affecting the space throughout all of Sinful City. Forcing our way out by tearing through space wouldn’t be an issue, but trying to lock onto a location for an Any Door here would be extremely difficult—basically impossible."

"Maybe we won’t need an Any Door," said the male Operator wearing Tactical Goggles. "Three of Dupe’s Tier Four subordinates are dead already, so his forces have taken a major blow. Once the other Tier Fours reach the inner city, we can join forces to destroy the ritual and kill Dupe for good."

Just then, a cheerful voice called out from the Cross-Abyss Bridge behind them.

"Hey! I’m here!"

The green-haired girl, Anna, flew toward them at high speed, riding a round, robotic vacuum cleaner with the ’Book of My Thoughts’ slung over her shoulder. She was dusty from her journey and her clothes were a little torn, but she seemed to be in high spirits. Clearly, her opponent had been no match for her and was already dead.

"Phew, I finally found the main group." Anna screeched to a halt in front of them and hopped off the robotic vacuum. Her eyes immediately landed on the Extraordinary Artifacts in Li Xiye’s hands, and her face lit up with surprise.

"’C-142·Smart Person’s Academic Hat,’ ’B-101·Physics Nonexistence Scissors?’

"And this ball of... is this a Space Type Rule-level Essence?"

"The gear that dropped when I killed Wang Shouhao," Li Xiye explained. "The old bastard had quite a few treasures on him."

"Need my help turning that Rule Essence into an Artifact?" Anna asked.

Li Xiye looked to Zhou Chen. He thought for a moment before nodding, so she nodded as well. "If you would, please."

Li Xiye had originally intended to give it to Zhou Chen, letting him forge it into a suitable weapon or piece of equipment. He might have even been able to comprehend a Spatial Attribute Ability from it. If Anna crafted it into an Extraordinary Artifact, reworking it later would probably be a huge pain.

Zhou Chen, however, didn’t mind. For him, reworking it would be a challenge in its own right. Besides, they were about to face Dupe and his cronies head-on. Increasing their combat power as much as possible was the best option.
