Lord Shadow

Chapter 2074: Ghost of the Never Been

But the gods...the gods are fickle.

Because they have the most freedom. Unlike others, they were not the chess pieces

They are the players.

And they could play however they desire.

But this does not mean that they are entirely unpredictable.

After all, even gods have desires.

At times, they side with whoever they wanted to side but they always have their own inclinations.

Jean for example would never incline to help the World Government, and Raymond would never be inclined to help the Revolutionary army

This alignment and preference is decided by the past actions of these two world powers against these people.

Hikigaya and Oreki mostly sided with the World Government but at times they even sided and fought on the side of the Revolutionary army.

The only one truly free from this alignment and sides is the Death God.

This is because these two world powers had never had any good relations with the Death God

World Government in that timeline had even imprisoned the Death God before his ascension and torture him.

Probably those who torture him arrive at his...Hell.

The torture of the human world pale in comparison in the Underworld that Death God controls.

Those who torture him have an eternity to regret their actions.

As for the Revolutionary Army, it is not like they have an amiable relationship with the Death God.

And Azief himself hated the Revolutionary army in some manner.

Yes, the God of Death does have quite the relationship with Katarina, but those who knows the God of Death all knows he is a cold and even heartless god

One that holds the power of life and death should be cold and heartless.

Boris knows exactly what he was doing when he told that news to Jean.

Probably at that time, Boris knowing he could not move Jean with rhetoric or threats, use that news to force Jean to move

It is always a debate whether Jean was stronger than the God of Death. Life and death, time and space these four concepts are quite related to each other

Sometimes it even overlapped.

God of Death rarely come down to the mortal world since his reign and after he gave the Divine Throne to Raymond and Raymond pass it down the God of Death is rarely seen in the mortal world.

He is mostly either in the Omniverse wreaking havoc or seeking something or enjoying his eternity.

No one really knows what he is doing in the Omniverse

But since that was the case, and knowing that God of Death is rarely on Earth, Boris idea of using Jean is ingenious.

Whether Jean knows or not that Boris is manipulating him, probably....Jean knows. But he did not care

Since the news is true, then that is the only thing that matters.

If that matter was really a plot and scheme, then it is an above-board schemes and plots and no one could complain.

Though, probably Boris never expected that what would happen next would reach to the point where all the gods are fighting

And when gods are fighting, everyone that is not a god would surely suffer.

Jean at this time even though he has quite the relationship with the Revolutionary Army was not like its lackey.

At times, he would help the Revolutionary Army. At times, he would care more about his affairs. It is a collaborative relationship

Of course, jean when he first heard that the World Government gain tehri hands on such an orb, he was simply amused.

Jean has always look out for reviving method.

And the God of Death was not keen on giving it to him

Loki did not really know whether the Death God did not want to, or whether he could not. Because the circumstances of Paulette death is very....complicated.

Loki himself did not know this matter until the End

There is one thing that perplexed Loki.

When Jean send him to the past, he talks a lot about all of the things he must do.

And things he must not do.

But out of the many things that Jean told him, not once he mention to him whether to save Paulette or not

Instead, he seems to give this decision to him

Loki himself sometimes wonder.

Why did Jean not said anything about Paulette?

After all, there are many tragic things that would happen and Jean did not mind telling him to try to stop all of these tragedies.

But for some reason, Paulette death, Jean most personal tragedy....at that moment, he did not utter even one word so that he would help Paulette.

That strikes him as odd. And Loki ha bene thinking since then.

Was it because Jean transformation itself is tied to this tragedy? So, should he allow the same thing to happen?

Or....is it because jean wanted Loki to make the decision independently

Because saving Paulette also means changing a lot of things and might even derailed the plan.

And between Paulette and the Omniverse, maybe the more important thing is to choose the Omniverse.

Or maybe jean would like Loki to assess it by himself. If he found that he could save Paulette, then he could save her. If he could not, then let things go their way

Sometimes, the most important words are those that is left unsaid. And Jean silence about the matter of Paulette has always been one of the thing Loki wonder the most.

And it is not like he could ask Jean right now.

As for in the future, Jean had done quite some deeds to make sure that Paulette could be revived.

For Jean in the future, when he heard about the Revival orb, his reaction is the same like any other people in that world.

It is not the first time there is such a revival item

There is even potions and even water that could revive mortals.

But the kind of things that could revive mortals could not be used to revive his Paulette.

But it wasn’t until he gained m roe credible information and after divining the future, he realize that this revival orb that the World Government had found is no normal revival method.

And he knows for certain that the World Government knows about this and would not let it go

Even more so to him.

So, Jean went out of Neverland and stops time.

This method of stopping time is focused.

It stopped time only on the World Government headquarters but the pressure of the law render all hexes, all formation, all protection magic useless.

With a swish of his hand, time stopped and accelerate and decelerate according to his wishes.

Jean got the orb.

And while Jean was rushing back to Neverland, he was blocked by Raymond.

They fought a long way from home.

Transcending time, space and dimension, these two traded blows all across the Omniverse, with each blows they were blasting each other out of the timelines they are in and even passing through countless universe each time one of them got clocked.

World Government then gather all of their army to retrieve back the orb.

There is many intrigues and plots even when this wars happening.

A hundred thousand soldiers were sent to Neverland. But the movement they enter they were frozen in time

As for the Prince of Darkness, the God of Death, he also appears when Jean is fighting Raymond and suggested that they convene the G7 so that everything is above-board and proper.

Jean, surrounded by Azief and Raymond had no choice but to agree and escorted back to Earth

The G7 convene.

And everyone wanted a piece of that Orb.

But no one was as desperate as Jean.

He insisted that he wanted the Orb and he plead the G7 members. He is not doing it for himself.

And everyone on that room understood why and who Jean wanted to use that Orb on.

Jean could never accept Paulette death

He had her entombed in Neverland.

No....not entombed...but frozen in time

That is what he did to her.

In that one second before her soul could be captured by any force, he halted that moment and halted that momenta round her.

It is like he preserved her in amber, preserved in time, in that moment, for eternity

Of course, Loki, knowing what he now knows, knows that if Jean had possess the ability he possess during the Battle of the End, he would not have be that insistent on having the orb.

Maybe if he did not did that, all of the things that came later could be prevented. And at the Battle of the End, things might not end that easily.

With his power, regardless of cause and effect, regardless of time paradox, he would find a way to bypass it or craft another plant without making the entire time continuum collapses.

But the Jean in that time....did not know.

And his best shot of trying to revive Paulette is by using the Orb

He had tried everything else. He even tries to came to that time when Paulette was dying. But that’s the thing.

The event of Paulette death is not only near the place where Jean was ascending, Paulette is one of the reason why Jean become Sovereign. And when he tries to mess with that, it is like trying to sever his own cause and effect.

And even he at that time could not do that.

As for why Jean was able to do what he did at the battle of the End, it is because the Omniverse has ceased to exist and in that brief moment where it is the moment between existence and non-existence, Jean make his most brilliant deed in entire moment of Creation

To delete entirely all of the timeline.

And it did not contradict with the Destroyer objective of deleting. But in that moment of deletion, Jean send him back to the past.

Like a ghost of a Never Been
