Lust Meter System: Conquering Beauties
Chapter 286: A Date Night With KelllyLiam sat behind the wheel of the car for a full minute before he even turned the engine off.
The leather under him still smelled new, that sharp factory scent that hadn’t faded yet.
His hands stayed on the wheel, fingers spread over the stitching, and he just stared through the windshield at Kelly’s building like he was waiting for someone to tell him this wasn’t real.
He glanced to the passenger seat.
’Right there,’ he thought. ’That’s where it happened.’
He shook his head, almost laughed at himself for it, and looked away fast, like the seat itself might call him out.
He wasn’t about to sit here replaying that with her about to walk out any minute. He cleared his throat, straightened his jacket, and pulled his phone to text Kelly.
**Liam:** I’m outside.
The message sent.
He set the phone face up on his thigh and waited, eyes flicking to the building’s front door every few seconds.
Three dots appeared almost immediately.
**Kelly:** Give me a few minutes, I’ll be right down.
He exhaled and dropped his head back against the headrest.
It hit him then, sitting there in the quiet with the engine ticking as it cooled, that he had never actually taken this woman on a real date.
Not once.
Everything between them had happened in stolen moments, in back rooms and closed doors and hallways where nobody was supposed to see.
Dinner. A car. A door he’d open for her like a gentleman was supposed to. None of that had ever come up before tonight.
’She deserves that much,’ he thought. ’More than that much.’
His phone buzzed again, pulling him out of it. Not Kelly this time. Kelvin.
**Kelvin:** bro what is THIS
Under the text sat the photo Liam had sent him an hour earlier, the car parked outside under the streetlight, black paint throwing back the glow like it had been poured on wet.
Liam smirked and typed back.
**Liam:** it’s mine now
**Kelvin:** stop playing with me. whose is it really
**Liam:** Elena hooked it up. She had other crazy cars she stopped using man. You need to see them man.
**Kelvin:** i knew it. liam this thing costs more than my mine
**Liam:** you’re not wrong
**Kelvin:** and you’re using it to pick up Kelly tonight? on some real date type shit?
**Liam:** yeah
**Kelvin:** man. look at you. mr romance all of a sudden
Liam huffed a short laugh through his nose and typed back something short, brushing it off, telling Kelvin he’d hear the whole story later.
He wasn’t in the mood to unpack every detail through a phone screen, not with Kelly due to walk out any second.
He locked the phone and set it in the cupholder, and for a moment the street outside went quiet except for the hum of somebody’s television through an open window two floors up.
Then a knock came at the passenger window.
Liam turned his head and the breath just left him.
Kelly stood there in a deep emerald gown that clung to her from her collarbone straight down to where it pooled slightly at her ankles, a slit cut high along her right thigh that showed a long line of skin every time she shifted her weight.
The fabric had a soft sheen to it, something between silk and satin, catching the streetlight in a way that made it look almost liquid across her hips.
The neckline dipped low enough to draw the eye without giving away the whole story, held up by two thin straps that sat delicate against her shoulders.
Her hair was swept over one side in loose waves, a few strands falling free near her jaw, and gold hoop earrings caught the light every time she tilted her head.
She had a small black clutch tucked under one arm, barely bigger than her hand, gold clasp glinting at the front of it.
Her heels were black too, thin straps wrapping her ankles, adding maybe three inches she clearly wasn’t used to walking in yet, judging by the careful way she’d crossed the sidewalk.
Liam didn’t move for a second. He just looked at her through the glass like the door wasn’t even there.
Then he remembered himself and pushed the door open, stepping out onto the curb. Up close she was worse for him, or better, he couldn’t decide which word fit.
The gown moved with her, the slit falling open just enough with every step to show the curve of her thigh, and the scent of her perfume reached him before she even got within arm’s reach, something warm and a little sweet, vanilla wrapped around something sharper underneath.
"You... " he started, and then lost the rest of the sentence completely.
He tried again. "You look..." His hand came up and dragged once down the back of his neck, an old habit that always showed up when words failed him. "Damn, Kelly."
She looked down at herself and then back up at him, a small smile pulling at one side of her mouth as color rose in her cheeks. "I didn’t know what to wear," she admitted, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I tried on like four different things. I’m just glad you’re actually here. Wasn’t sure you’d survive whatever it is you’ve been dealing with lately."
"I survive everything," he said, finally finding his footing again. "Especially for this. You look incredible. Like, genuinely, I don’t think I’ve seen you dressed up like this before."
"Stop," she said, but the smile didn’t leave her face. If anything it got wider, and she pressed her lips together like she was trying to hold it in.
"I mean it," he said. "That dress was made for you."
Her eyes finally left his face and drifted past his shoulder, landing on the car parked at the curb behind him. Her eyebrows lifted.
"Okay, wait," she said, stepping to the side to get a better look at it, taking in the long black hood, the chrome trim catching the streetlight, the tinted windows. "This is nice. Really nice. You didn’t have to rent something like this for tonight, you know. I would’ve followed you anywhere, even in that busted little thing you usually drive." She said it with a laugh, teasing, but there was warmth behind it.
Liam smiled and shook his head. "I didn’t rent it."
Her brow furrowed. "What do you mean you didn’t rent it?"
"It’s mine."
"Yours?" Her mouth opened slightly, eyes going wide as she looked from him to the car and back again. "Liam, how? Since when do you have money for something like this?"
"Got it from a friend," he said, keeping his voice easy, like it wasn’t worth digging into any further tonight. "Long story. Don’t worry about it right now."
She studied him for a second, like she wanted to push, but then she just let out a small breath and shook her head slowly. "Okay," she said, drawing the word out, clearly deciding to let it go for now. "Okay, whatever. It’s your business."
"Let’s go," Liam said, glancing at his watch. "Before we miss our reservation."
Her expression shifted a little at that, something more careful settling over her features. "Reservation?" she repeated. "Liam, I don’t need you to take me somewhere expensive. I’m serious. We could’ve just gotten food from somewhere close, you didn’t have to go out of your way for all this." She gestured vaguely between him and the car and her own dress, worry creasing her forehead like she was suddenly recalculating the whole night.
Liam stepped a little closer, close enough that he had to look down slightly to meet her eyes. "You shouldn’t worry about that," he said, voice quieter now, steadier. "You’re worth it. All of it. Tonight, the car, the reservation, whatever it costs. None of that matters to me."
Kelly’s cheeks went warm again, a deeper flush this time that crept up toward her ears, and she looked down at the sidewalk for a second before glancing back up at him through her lashes. She didn’t argue.
She just nodded slowly, like she’d run out of ways to protest and decided to just accept it instead.
Liam reached out and took her hand, his fingers wrapping gently around hers, thumb brushing once over her knuckles before he started walking her around to the other side of the car.
She let him lead her, heels clicking soft against the pavement, the slit in her dress opening and closing with each step.
He pulled the door open and held it for her, one hand braced on the frame, the other still holding hers as she lowered herself into the seat, gathering the fabric of her gown in against her legs so it wouldn’t catch in the door.
"Thank you," she said, glancing up at him from the seat.
He gave her a small nod and shut the door carefully once she was clear, then rounded the front of the car, running a hand once along the hood out of habit, still not quite believing it was his to touch like that.
He slid in behind the wheel and pulled his own door shut, the sound heavy and solid, sealing them both inside where the outside noise dropped away almost completely.
He reached for his seatbelt and pulled it across himself, the click echoing in the quiet cabin. Kelly was already doing the same beside him, smoothing the fabric of her dress over her thighs once she’d settled it.
Liam turned the key and the engine woke up under them with a low, controlled growl, the dashboard lighting up in soft blue. He glanced over at her one more time before pulling off the curb, her profile lit gold from the streetlight outside, that same small smile still sitting on her lips.
"You should get ready," he said, easing the car into gear, "to have a really nice time tonight."
Kelly turned her head toward him, eyes catching the light. "I’m holding you to that."
He smiled, checked his mirror, and pulled the car out onto the street, the city sliding past the windows as they left the curb behind.
