The drive back from the restaurant carried the particular quiet that only came after a genuinely good night.

They had talked for three straight hours, worked through every easy topic and a few harder ones, and now sat in a silence that didn’t need filling.

Kelly had her clutch resting in her lap, her head tilted slightly against the headrest, watching the city slide by through the window, streetlights sweeping gold across her face at intervals.

The restaurant had been exactly what it was supposed to be. Good food. Unhurried service.

The kind of place that let an evening move at its own pace instead of pushing you toward the door the second the check came.

She had laughed twice in a way that wasn’t performed, the kind that arrived before she decided to let it, and both times Liam had caught himself watching her instead of whatever he’d been about to say.

He pulled up outside her building and cut the engine. The street was quiet at this hour, just the occasional car passing, a group of people spilling out of somewhere further down the block, their voices rising and then fading into the night.

Kelly opened her door and stepped out, then paused, leaning back through the gap with one hand braced on the roof of the car.

"Are you not coming in?" she asked.

Liam glanced down at the phone in his hand. Kelvin’s message sat there, sent eleven minutes earlier.

Bro I’m at your place. Come home I need to see the car. NOW.

He’d been staring at it while she gathered her things, not really sure how to bring it up.

"I figured you’d be tired," he said, looking back up at her. "Long night. Thought you might want to just rest."

She gave him a look, the kind reserved for something mildly absurd. "Have you never watched a romance movie in your life?"

"Not really my thing," he admitted.

"Well, for your information," she said, leaning a little further into the car, "in those movies, when a date goes this well, the guy doesn’t just drop the girl off and drive away like a coward. He walks her up. He comes inside." A small, deliberate pause. "And if it really went well, sometimes he stays the night."

Liam looked at her standing there in the open door, streetlight catching the emerald of her dress, the whole evening still sitting warm behind her eyes.

"Thank God for romance movie logic," he said.

She smiled. "Yeah," she said. "Thank God."

He turned the engine off.

Before getting out, he typed a quick reply to Kelvin. Going to be a little longer. Wait for me.

The response came back in under a minute.

A crying emoji.

Kelvin: You absolute bastard.

Then, right after: Fine. I’ll be here. Crying the whole time.

Liam huffed a laugh, shoved the phone in his pocket, and got out of the car.

They crossed the lobby together, quiet at this hour, the elevator carrying them up without any of the usual grinding delay, the hallway on her floor warmly lit and empty.

She dug her keys out of the clutch, let them both in, and the apartment welcomed them the way it always did, lived-in and warm, a lamp glowing low in the corner, some trace of her perfume still hanging faintly in the air from earlier that evening.

She turned to face him in the middle of the living room.

"Wait here," she said.

He blinked. "What?"

"On the couch." She pointed at it like the instruction needed visual backup. "Wait for me."

He looked at the couch, then back at her, opened his mouth like he might ask why, thought better of it, and crossed the room to sit down instead.

"Five minutes," she said, already backing toward the hallway. "Then come find me."

She turned and disappeared toward the bedroom.

Liam watched her go the whole way, the emerald fabric of her dress shifting with each step, catching the low light before she vanished through the door and pulled it most of the way shut behind her.

He sat there a moment.

Looked at the ceiling. Looked at his phone. Looked at the time.

Four minutes and forty-seven seconds left.

Four minutes and forty-five.

His phone buzzed.

Kelvin.

Kelvin~ Okay I’ve been sitting here for twenty minutes and I ate your last bag of chips. I’m leaving. Going to go find a best friend who actually appreciates me.

Liam typed back: Why are you being so dramatic about this.

Kelvin~ My best friend finally gets a car. A REAL car. Not just any car. THE car. And he won’t even let me see it tonight. Of course I’m being dramatic.

Liam~ I sent you pictures already.

Kelvin~ Pictures don’t count. I need to touch it. Sit in it. Take it down the street at least once so I know what kind of person I’m even dealing with anymore.

Liam~ We’ll do all of that when I’m back.

Kelvin~ Won’t be the same in the daytime.

Liam~ How is that even a real complaint.

Kelvin~ Night driving hits different and you know it. City looks completely different after dark. I want to experience this car the way it was meant to be experienced, Liam. Respect the process.

Liam glanced toward the bedroom door, then back at the countdown on his screen.

Forty seconds left.

His phone buzzed again. A different name this time.

Kelly: I’m ready for you.

He looked at Kelvin’s chat. Kelvin was typing. The three dots appeared and Liam watched them for one second and then put his phone in his pocket without waiting for what they produced.

He got up from the couch.

He crossed the living room and went to her bedroom door and opened it.

He stopped.

Kelly was standing near the foot of the bed.

She was wearing a waitress costume, the kind that had been designed by someone with a very specific understanding of what the word waitress could mean if you committed to a particular interpretation of it.

The dress itself was black, fitted, short enough that it stopped considerably above mid-thigh, the fabric smooth and tailored.

At the chest there were cutouts, deliberate and precise, two openings in the fabric that left her nipples fully exposed, the surrounding fabric framing them rather than covering them.

She had a small white apron tied at the front.

Her hair was pulled back. In one hand she held a small serving tray, empty, held at shoulder height with the practiced angle of someone who had committed to the bit entirely.

She looked at him standing in the doorway.

"How can I help you tonight, master?" she said.

Liam looked at the costume.

At the cutouts.

At the tray.

"Okay," he said. "I’m down."

She tilted her head slightly with the professional expression of someone awaiting an order. "What can I get for you this evening?"

He looked at her for a moment. Then he looked down at himself, at the front of his trousers where the situation had already made itself known without being asked.

"You can start," he said, "by helping me with this."

She looked at where he was indicating.

She smiled. The waitress expression dropped entirely for a second before she recovered it. "Right away, sir," she said.

She set the tray down on the dresser and crossed the room toward him with the unhurried purpose of someone who had decided exactly what they were doing and was taking their time getting there.

She reached him and looked up at him once.

Then she went down to her knees and found his belt and worked it loose with both hands, the buckle coming undone cleanly. She pulled his trousers down to his knees and looked at what was in front of her, still in his boxers, already fully present and ready to participate.

She looked up at him.

"Get ready, master," she said. "I’m about to suck you dry."

Liam looked down at her kneeling there in the waitress costume with the cutouts showing exactly what they were showing and the little white apron still tied at the front and the completely serious expression of someone making a professional promise.

He nodded.

The nod of a man who had absolutely no objections to anything that was currently happening and wanted to make sure that was clearly communicated.

"Mmhm," he said.

She pulled his boxers down.

She looked at him for a moment.

Then she wrapped both hands around him and opened her mouth and got to work.

She started slow, taking just the head into her mouth, her tongue trailing a hot, deliberate circle around the tip before sliding deeper.

Cool lips pressing against his warmth sent a sharp jolt straight down his spine.

Liam’s breath hitched, his hands immediately finding their way to her hair, his fingers threading through the soft strands as she began a steady, torturous rhythm.

Every time she pulled back, low light in the bedroom caught the cutouts of her dress, exposing the bare swell of her chest and taut nipples in the cool air. She was fully committed to the role, but her eyes held pure, unadulterated intent as she looked up through her lashes.

"Kelly," he muttered, his voice dropping an octave, thick and rasping.

She didn’t break cadence. Instead, she let out a soft hum against him, sending another wave of heat straight through his gut.

Taking him deeper, her hands gripped his thighs for leverage, pulling him flush against her face while her tongue worked over every inch of him. Relentless and focused, she paced herself with agonizing, deliberate perfection.

Liam leaned back slightly against the doorframe, his knuckles white where he held onto it, trying to keep his footing as pleasure pooled tight in his hips.

"Jesus," he breathed, his thumb gently stroking her cheek as she set a faster pace. "You’re going to... Kelly, wait."

She paused just at the tip, looking up with a mischievous, breathless smirk, her lips wet and glistening.

Her fingers tapped the side of her leg where the tiny apron sat.

"Is the service not to your liking, sir?" she asked, her voice a low, teasing purr.

"Your service," Liam panted, reaching down to grab her under the arms and effortlessly hauling her up off her knees, "is dangerously good. But I’m not sitting back and letting you do all the work."

He didn’t give her a chance to respond. Lifting her slightly, he set her down on the edge of the tall wooden dresser, sending a small jewelry box rattling against the wood.

Kelly let out a soft gasp as he stepped between her knees, his hands immediately cupping her hips.

Up close, details of the costume proved staggering, with the stark white apron contrasting against the sheer absurdity of the cutouts while her chest rose and fell rapidly.

Bending down, he took one of her exposed nipples into his mouth, flicking his tongue over the hardened peak while his hand slid up the back of her dress, gathering smooth black fabric until his fingers found the edge of her lace panties.

Kelly threw her head back, her fingers digging into his shoulders. "Liam..."

"Quiet, waitress," he murmured against her skin, moving his mouth to the other cutout, tasting her, feeling the rapid thump of her pulse beneath his lips. "I haven’t placed my main order yet."
