Liam stared at the Seer for several seconds without saying anything. The revelation from Agatha and the others had already been difficult enough to process, but now that he was standing directly in front of the being they had spent their lives worshipping, there was another question burning far more intensely in his mind. He didn’t understand why he felt as though he knew her. He didn’t understand why her presence felt strangely familiar despite the fact that, as far as his memories were concerned, he had never met her before. And most importantly, he didn’t understand why his instincts kept telling him that there was something between them that his current memories simply couldn’t explain.
He finally broke the silence.
"Is it true?"
The question was simple, but it carried everything he was struggling to understand. Liam looked directly into her eyes as he waited for an answer, but the Seer didn’t react. She didn’t nod. She didn’t shake her head. She didn’t even change her expression.
Yet Liam somehow knew.
That silence was an answer.
His brows drew together as he looked at her. He couldn’t explain how he knew, and that bothered him more than the lack of a verbal response. It was almost as though some part of him already understood her without needing words. The same strange sensation he had experienced when he first saw her returned, crawling through his thoughts and settling somewhere deep within his chest.
"I knew it," Liam murmured.
Tatiana watched him carefully from behind the clouds surrounding them. She could see Liam speaking, but she could also tell something about his behavior had changed. He wasn’t acting like himself. Usually, even when faced with something incomprehensible, Liam would have some sarcastic comment ready or would begin asking questions until he had enough information to understand the situation. Right now, however, he looked almost lost.
Liam took a slow breath.
"Then why did you lead us here?"
The Seer finally moved.
She began walking toward him.
Her movements were so graceful that Liam barely noticed her feet touching the clouds. There was no hurried step, no hesitation. She simply approached him with an effortless elegance that made the entire world around her seem strangely insignificant.
"Because I needed to see you."
Liam’s heart fluttered.
He almost hated himself for noticing it.
His eyes widened slightly as the words settled into his mind.
I needed to see you.
Not them.
Not the witches.
Not the group.
You.
For some reason, the distinction hit him harder than it should have.
Why?
Why did his chest feel strangely warm?
Why did his heartbeat become just slightly faster?
He had heard plenty of beautiful women say plenty of things to him. Tatiana alone had said things that could make his heart race, yet this was different. He couldn’t explain it. There was no logical reason for the words of this woman to affect him so strongly.
Maybe it was because of the familiarity.
Maybe it was because of the way she looked at him.
Or maybe there was something about her that reached into a part of him he didn’t even know existed.
"What do you mean?"
His voice came out quieter than he intended.
The Seer continued walking.
She was almost in front of him now.
Liam swallowed.
Then something strange happened.
Clouds suddenly began gathering around them.
They came from nowhere.
Thick white mist rolled across the ground and rose into the air, rapidly surrounding Liam and the Seer until the rest of the world disappeared behind an enormous wall of swirling clouds.
Tatiana immediately stepped forward.
"Liam?"
No answer.
She couldn’t see him anymore.
Irina’s expression changed as she tried to look through the cloud. Her werewolf senses immediately expanded, attempting to locate Liam through the thick obstruction, but even her enhanced senses couldn’t penetrate it.
"Where did they go?"
Leonid stepped closer.
He tried listening.
Nothing.
Not even Liam’s breathing.
The cloud seemed to absorb sound itself.
Tatiana’s eyes narrowed.
"Liam!"
Still nothing.
Inside the cloud, Liam stood completely still.
He could no longer see anyone else.
There was only the Seer.
And up close, she was even more impossible.
Liam had thought she was beautiful before.
He had been wrong.
From this distance, there was something almost unreal about her appearance. Her skin was impossibly smooth, carrying a soft radiance that seemed to come from beneath the surface rather than from the surrounding light. There wasn’t a blemish anywhere on her face. Every feature seemed perfectly balanced with the next, as though nature itself had been given unlimited time to create the ideal face and had somehow succeeded.
Her eyes were perhaps the most captivating part.
They were luminous and deep, yet incredibly clear. Liam couldn’t determine their exact color because they seemed to shift with the light, sometimes appearing like pale silver, sometimes like liquid gold and sometimes like the endless white of the clouds surrounding them. They weren’t merely beautiful eyes. They felt ancient.
Her eyebrows curved naturally above them, perfectly shaped without looking artificial. Her nose was delicate and elegant, its proportions fitting the rest of her face so perfectly that Liam found himself staring without meaning to.
Then his gaze dropped slightly.
Her lips.
They were soft-looking and naturally colored, perfectly shaped without being exaggerated. The upper lip had a subtle curve while the lower was slightly fuller, giving her mouth an almost hypnotic softness. There was nothing artificial about her beauty. She didn’t need jewelry, makeup or elaborate clothing to enhance herself.
She simply existed.
And somehow that was enough.
Her white hair framed her face in long, silky strands, each one appearing almost impossibly smooth. A few strands rested against her shoulders while the rest flowed down her back like a river of moonlight.
Liam had seen beautiful women before.
He had seen women who could make entire crowds stop and stare.
But this was different.
He had never seen anything so perfect in his life.
And the most disturbing part was that his mind wasn’t even trying to exaggerate her beauty.
It was simply failing to find a better way to describe what he was seeing.
The Seer looked at him.
"I have been waiting for so long."
Her voice filled the cloud around them.
Liam blinked.
It wasn’t merely beautiful.
It was music.
He had heard instruments.
He had heard singers.
He had heard voices filled with emotion, power and warmth.
None of them compared.
Her voice carried a softness that seemed to resonate directly inside his chest. Every syllable felt perfectly placed, as though the sound itself had been created specifically to reach him.
Liam stared at her for another moment.
Then his mind finally snapped back into place.
He took a step backward.
"Wait."
His expression hardened slightly.
He shook his head as though physically clearing the fog from his thoughts.
"Listen, nice goddess."
The Seer’s eyes remained on him.
"I don’t understand any of these words you’ve been saying."
Liam gestured vaguely around them.
"We only came here because you led us here. We were hoping you could give us information about how to defeat the vampires and maybe explain what the hell is actually happening with all this Aetherial stuff."
He paused.
His expression became increasingly confused.
"But you’ve been looking at me like I’m some long lost lover you’ve been waiting centuries to find."
The moment those words left his mouth, something flickered through the Seer’s eyes.
It was so brief that Liam didn’t notice.
A tiny flash of emotion.
Surprise.
Perhaps even embarrassment.
But it vanished almost instantly.
Her expression returned to its previous serenity so quickly that Liam couldn’t have caught the transition even if he had been specifically watching for it.
He simply saw the same beautiful goddess standing before him.
Calm.
Perfect.
Unreadable.
Liam scratched the back of his head.
"Seriously, what am I missing here?"
The Seer didn’t immediately answer.
She simply looked at him.
For a few seconds, the cloud around them remained completely silent.
Then Liam noticed something that made his brows slowly furrow.
There was something in the way she looked at him.
Something that didn’t belong to a goddess looking at a stranger.
It was too personal.
Too familiar.
Almost as though she wasn’t seeing the Liam standing in front of her.
Almost as though she was looking at someone else entirely.
Someone who had existed long before Liam Carter ever opened his eyes on Earth.
And somewhere deep within Liam’s soul, that same feeling stirred again.
A name he didn’t remember.
A life he couldn’t see.
A world he couldn’t recall.
Caelus Vaelorian.
Liam’s expression slowly changed.
He still didn’t understand.
But for the first time, he began to suspect that the answer wasn’t going to be found in his memories.
It was going to be found in the person standing directly in front of him.
