"Let’s go to the fourth zone and see how many mines there are."

Evelyn Ford took out two protective suits. Fortunately, there were barriers between the zones; otherwise, she would have been worried about the livestock and cultivation zones getting contaminated.

Clad in their protective gear from head to toe, the two entered the mining zone. The mines were as massive as the mountains outside, with countless peaks stretching as far as the eye could see. Evelyn Ford’s heart pounded, and a single thought echoed in her mind.

’We’re rich...’

"I can smell coal. With this, plus the dozens of tons of coal we’ve already collected in the space, we’ll never have to worry about fuel for fires again."

The two explored the mining zone for an hour before heading out. The area was so vast that even by car, a single lap would likely take several hours.

"Ronan Kendrick, the space is probably the size of a city... no, with the mining zone, it’s probably the size of a small province."

Ronan Kendrick nodded. "I’ll count how many mines there are and mark them all later. But I noticed something just now—the mines are divided into zones by type. There’s about a two-kilometer gap between the non-ferrous and ferrous metal zones. Now that the space’s development is complete, it probably has a full range of ore types. There should be rare metals, dispersed metals, non-metallic minerals..."

Ronan Kendrick noticed Evelyn Ford’s eyes growing brighter and brighter and patted her on the head, amused.

"The mines are great, but excavating them won’t be easy. There must be a reason for all these mines to appear. It’s just that with only the two of us, it might be very difficult to actually mine them."

"You’re right. There must be a reason for the mines. Once the disaster is over, humanity will have to rebuild their homes, and they’ll need ore. These ores should be put to a greater purpose."

The two then took a tour of the cultivation zone. Evelyn Ford brought out a tricycle from the storage area and drove it along the path beside the fields, soon reaching the newly developed region of the black soil.

"Oh, right, Ronan Kendrick, have you noticed something? We used to be ejected from the space after an hour, but now it seems like there’s no time limit."

"I have. The space’s development is complete, and as its master, you can now control it completely. But if other people come in, there will probably still be a time limit."

"It actually took ten years to fully develop the space. If we hadn’t accidentally dripped blood on that Gold, we probably would have never known the space could be expanded for cultivation and livestock." Evelyn Ford still felt it was a shame. If only they could have developed the livestock zone earlier, they could have raised the fish they’d caught at sea.

"This huge stretch of the black soil... what should we plant?" Evelyn Ford was both excited and anxious. Having suddenly become a land baroness, she needed to plan her cultivation carefully.

Ronan Kendrick mulled it over for a few seconds. "Let’s plant the entire first crop with wheat. Wheat doesn’t need to be watered or fertilized, so it’s perfect for breaking in new ground."

"Okay, let’s do as you say and plant it all with wheat. Later, I’ll try to see if Quincy and Mr. Graham can enter the space. If they can, we’ll have more help."

Compared to others, Evelyn Ford trusted Quincy and Officer Graham more.

Ronan Kendrick, of course, had no objection. "Now that the space’s development is complete, it’s entirely under your control. As long as you’re willing, they should be able to enter."

The two drove the tricycle in a circle on the black soil, and it made Evelyn Ford feel like she was in the great farmlands of the Northeast.

For people with an innate passion for farming, there was nothing more exciting than owning a piece of fertile land.

"Ronan Kendrick, let’s go check on the livestock zone. Right, it’s expanded by several times, so we need to spread the animals out a bit. The argali sheep like to fight, so we have to move them further away. The chicken coops and duck pens need to be expanded, too. It’s a good thing we chopped so much wood before; it’ll be perfect for making posts."

Evelyn Ford stood in the tricycle’s cargo bed with her hands on Ronan Kendrick’s shoulders, while he drove.

"Go, go, go!"

After the livestock zone expanded, the animals were hesitant and scared when confronted with the suddenly larger area.

The new ground was bare, and the soil in the livestock zone was a sandy yellow, very barren. They would need to sow Four Seasons Green seeds to improve it.

Fortunately, the well had turned into a river that now flowed through and connected both the cultivation and livestock zones, so they no longer needed to use pipes to divert water.

The two coiled up the water pipes they had recovered. As soon as they appeared in the livestock zone, Mina rushed over and leaped onto Evelyn Ford’s shoulder.

"How did you get so chubby?"

Mina wagged its tail furiously, but upon hearing Evelyn Ford’s words, it grew unhappy and leaped directly into Ronan Kendrick’s arms, SQUEAKING as if to complain.

"Evelyn Ford’s right. You really have gotten chubby."

Mina stared at Ronan Kendrick in disbelief, its round little eyes filled with accusation. It whipped his face with its tail, then immediately scampered away.

Watching it dive into the grass and disappear without a trace, Ronan Kendrick let out an exasperated laugh.

"It’s got quite a temper. I wonder what squirrel soup tastes like."

The grass rustled twice. Evelyn Ford and Ronan Kendrick exchanged a smile and decided not to tease it any further.

Evelyn Ford took out a notebook and recorded the numbers of the argali, horses, takin, roe deer, and Red Deer. The chickens, ducks, and Snow Rabbits were too numerous to count.

"The Mammoth and the herd of horses can be in one area. The horses can’t be fenced in, so let’s expand their roaming area to ten mu. The Red Deer and roe deer can be put together. And there are already over a thousand Snow Rabbits, so penning them isn’t very realistic either."

"Let’s put the two White Wolves and the wolfdog in the cultivation zone. These two White Wolves have already been domesticated, so let them guard the crops."

Ronan Kendrick nodded. "I’ll leave the arrangements to you."

Ronan Kendrick collected eggs in a plastic bucket. He used to frown whenever he stepped in droppings, but now he could do these things without batting an eye.

Once they had finished planning the layout for the livestock zone, the two of them left the space.

It was 9:30 PM. Evelyn Ford took a shower and got ready for bed.

Ronan Kendrick was still in the space, figuring out how to cut jade. By the time he finished, Evelyn Ford was already asleep.

Ronan Kendrick went down to the first floor. Hearing the door open, the three people in the guest room immediately shot up from their beds.

They trembled in fear at the sight of Ronan Kendrick.

"Wh-what do you want?"

"You can go now."

The three of them froze for a moment, staring in disbelief. "Now?"

"When you get back to the refugee camp, you’re to do one thing for me."

Ronan Kendrick suddenly snapped his fingers, and the three of them were instantly hypnotized.

When Evelyn Ford woke up, she found Ronan Kendrick lying on his side beside her, just watching her. He startled her so much she nearly rolled off the bed.

"You didn’t sleep?"

"I’m awake now."

Evelyn Ford pulled out her pocket watch to check the time. She had actually slept for a full eight hours.

"Those three are gone," Ronan Kendrick said suddenly.

"You let them go?" Evelyn Ford yawned, sitting up and leaning against the headboard.

"Yeah. Did you sleep well last night?"

"Not really. I dreamt someone was hunting me down, and I was constantly running for my life. I’m exhausted."

Ronan Kendrick chuckled. "No wonder. Last night, you kicked me right out of bed while shouting for help."
