Ethan Dawson spent two days in bed. After taking the potent medicine, his three wounds healed quickly, and by the third day, he was able to get up and move around.

Evelyn Ford’s next task was to treat Officer Graham’s stomach ulcer. An earlier examination back at the cabin had revealed his condition wasn’t good—he even had some gastric bleeding. Officer Graham had been taking his medicine consistently, and over the past two days, his complexion had improved and his appetite had returned. Evelyn decided to give him another check-up. While he had experienced gastric bleeding, his ulcer wasn’t severe enough to warrant surgery. Thanks to his recent period of rest and treatment, he was already sixty to seventy percent recovered. Another month of care would see him fully healed.

Although Officer Graham never showed it, he had been under a great deal of pressure. He was only human, and he was afraid of dying. Fortunately, the results of this check-up let everyone breathe a sigh of relief.

Evelyn was also rather worried about Quincy’s mental health. She made a point of finding time to give him a depression screening. The results were unexpected—his psychological evaluation came back perfectly healthy.

’So it’s not depression. Does he really have a split personality?’

This was no small matter. Evelyn called him out to the backyard, deciding it was time for a serious talk.

"How have you been feeling lately?"

"Great, actually. But there is one thing that’s been worrying me."

"What is it? Tell me, and I’ll help you solve it. Don’t keep it bottled up inside."

Quincy sighed. "I don’t think there’s a solution. As you get older, some things are just inevitable. I’ve come to terms with it."

"Oh, I see." Evelyn froze for a second, a mix of awkwardness and sympathy in her eyes. She patted Quincy’s shoulder. "I’ll keep this a secret for you."

Quincy looked puzzled. "It’s not a secret. There’s no need to be so secretive about it."

Evelyn was speechless. "How can you go around telling everyone about something like this? Can’t you be a little more tight-lipped?"

"What’s the big deal?" Quincy sounded aggrieved. "You guys all seem to have a problem with me lately. Am I going through menopause or something?"

"It’s because you have a big mouth! Is this something you should be telling everyone? And you’re not going through menopause. Male menopause happens during the transition from middle to old age. You’re only in your thirties. You’re still young."

Quincy’s mood brightened. "Am I really still young?"

"You’re not exactly a spring chicken, but you’re not old either. Just try to stay calm. I’ll go do some research and mix up a prescription for you. We’ll see if I can save you."

Quincy nodded. "You have to make it a large dose. To be honest, I’ve secretly been rubbing ginger on it, but it hasn’t helped at all."

’A large dose? Is it really that serious?’

’Wait, rubbing ginger? Can you just rub ginger *anywhere*? What a brainless idiot.’

Evelyn suppressed her anger. "Rubbing ginger? Are you out of your mind? It’s not like you’re losing your hair, so what good would rubbing ginger do? Why would you hide this from me? Why didn’t you tell me sooner? Am I, the all-powerful miracle doctor, just for show around here?"

Quincy automatically ignored Evelyn’s self-proclaimed title of "miracle doctor" and just stared at her blankly.

"I *am* talking about hair loss! What else would I be talking about?"

"Hair loss?"

"Yeah! I told you a long time ago I was losing a lot of hair. Everybody knows!"

Evelyn... ’Oh, crap. I think I’ve completely misunderstood him.’

Quincy took off his hat, revealing his thinning hair to Evelyn.

"Neither Mr. Graham nor Mr. Vance is facing a hair loss crisis. I’m so worried! Why am I the only one losing my hair? Heaven is so unfair! My looks, which used to be a solid eight out of ten, are now down to a two. And I’m only in my thirties!"

Evelyn pressed the bridge of her nose. "I’m sorry. Your condition really is quite serious. We’ll need to do a follicle analysis. Male pattern baldness is irreversible. Unless you get hair transplants, it’s very difficult to treat."

Quincy felt like he’d been struck by lightning. "You can’t do anything either? Not even your special medicine can save me?"

Evelyn nodded grimly. "The midlife crisis of a man... it’s a terrifying thing. My condolences."

"I think I can still be saved!" Quincy refused to give up. "Look at this face—more handsome than Brad Lowell’s! Can you really bear to watch me go bald?"

Evelyn had to resist the urge to slap him. "Don’t you dare insult my mom’s idol."

’Actually, it’s not like he can’t be saved. No matter how you look at it, treating baldness can’t be harder than treating impotence, right?’

Evelyn stifled a laugh. "I’ll go back and mix the prescription."

"I’ll be waiting for good news! Oh, by the way, what was it you wanted to talk about earlier?"

Evelyn fiddled with her ear. "About that split personality thing you mentioned before... I did an assessment, and I think it’s quite possible. Have you had any extreme mood swings lately?"

"Nope. My emotions have been very stable lately."

"I really have a split personality? Awesome! Just as I thought. We Geminis all have split personalities."

Evelyn... ’He’s a lost cause.’

’I’m such an idiot for actually believing this goofball.’

"No wonder you said you’d live a long time. I believe you now. With an attitude like this, you could live to be two hundred and have no problem."

Despite her sarcastic remarks, back in her bedroom, Evelyn pulled out her medical texts. She wrote down every formula for treating hair loss and began to devise a treatment plan for Quincy.

"Does Quincy really have a split personality?" Ronan Kendrick asked, seeing her scribbling furiously. He leaned over to see what she was writing.

"No. Other than his brain being wired a little funny, he’s perfectly normal in every other way."

Ronan Kendrick smiled. "Did you two have a fight?"

"No, Quincy’s hair loss is severe, so I’m putting together a treatment plan for him. Female hair loss is relatively easy to treat, but male hair loss is usually genetic and very difficult. I’m not sure he’ll be able to regrow his hair."

Evelyn suddenly threw herself into Ronan Kendrick’s arms. "I made such a fool of myself just now! I completely misunderstood Quincy."

"Misunderstood what?"

Evelyn slapped her forehead. "I’m so terrible. It was about a man’s dignity! Thank god I didn’t say it out loud, or Quincy would have been so mad he’d have cried."

Ronan Kendrick had already figured it out.

"Oh, you."

Evelyn raised her hands in surrender. "I was wrong. I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions. To make it up to him, I’ve decided to throw in a special gift."

"What kind of gift?"

"Kidney-strengthening pills. In traditional medicine, healthy kidneys mean healthy hair. So, I’ve decided to help him treat the root cause."

Ronan Kendrick’s expression was complicated. "He might just die of anger."

Evelyn rubbed her chin. "Or maybe I could just brew him a batch of the ’Ten-Tonics Soup’?"

"With his constitution, a tonic that strong could kill him." Ronan Kendrick chuckled, nonplussed. "I’m starting to think you’re trying to murder him."

Evelyn was at a loss for words.

「Three days later.」

The hair growth tonic and shampoo, custom-made for Quincy, were ready.

Seeing the hair on Quincy’s head grow thinner by the day, everyone wanted to laugh but didn’t dare.

"How long until my hair grows back?"

Evelyn held up one finger.

"A week?"

"In your dreams."

"A month?"

Evelyn facepalmed. "A year. Your case is pretty severe, after all. This is a hair growth tonic, not a miracle elixir that brings the dead back to life."

Miles Vaughn tried to console him. "For a man, hair is just something to worry about. Being bald won’t change the way I see you."

Quincy snorted. "I’m just Baldy Brock to you, aren’t I? Don’t think I didn’t see you snickering."

"And the rest of you! If you want to laugh, go ahead. I’m not charging for it."
