-------------------------------------------------
The warm laughter that had filled Yami’s chamber had yet to fade completely.
Surya Deva was still smiling.
Sandhya and Chaya exchanged amused glances after successfully embarrassing their daughter.
Even Yama, whose face usually remained unreadable, still carried the faintest trace of a smile.
Then...
Without warning...
The entire chamber fell silent.
"...."
"...."
"...."
A gentle golden radiance appeared at the very centre of the room.
It did not burst forth violently.
Instead, it spread calmly, like the first rays of dawn touching a still lake.
The divine light grew brighter and brighter until every corner of the chamber was illuminated.
The celestial rivers flowing through the marble floor suddenly began glowing.
The sacred lamps lit themselves.
Fresh lotus blossoms bloomed upon the waters without anyone touching them.
The fragrance of divine sandalwood filled the air.
The very atmosphere seemed to become lighter.
Countless tiny particles of golden light drifted through the chamber like stars descending from the heavens.
Then...
At the centre of that brilliance... A magnificent lotus formed.
Not an ordinary lotus.
Its petals were woven entirely from pure divine energy, each one radiating countless colours beyond mortal comprehension.
The lotus slowly unfolded.
Above it...
A familiar divine figure gradually took shape.
Four arms.
Dark blue complexion.
Golden silk garments.
The Kaustubha jewel shining upon His chest.
The Sudarshana Chakra and Panchajanya rested peacefully beside Him.
Though it was not His true body...
Even this divine projection carried immeasurable majesty.
It was none other than...
Lord Narayana.
Or more commonly revered...
Lord Vishnu.
The moment His form completely materialised...
Every member of the Surya family immediately rose.
Surya Deva folded his hands respectfully.
Chaya and Sandhya bowed deeply.
Yama lowered his head with complete reverence.
Yami immediately followed, her earlier embarrassment disappearing entirely.
"...."
"...."
"...."
All of them greeted Him together.
"Our humble pranams to Lord Narayana."
Lord Vishnu smiled warmly.
His smile alone seemed capable of calming every heart present.
He gently raised one hand in blessing.
"May
A wave of peaceful divine energy spread throughout the chamber.
Every trace of anxiety lingering within Yami’s heart seemed to lessen, if only for a moment.
Lord Vishnu’s compassionate gaze slowly settled upon her.
"Yami."
His voice remained as gentle as ever.
"I have come because the time has arrived."
The room immediately became quiet once again.
Yami straightened instinctively.
"...."
She remembered those words.
Long ago...
When the Devas had gathered before Lord Vishnu seeking guidance regarding Pushpasura, He had spoken directly to her.
At that time...
He had only said one thing.
"Your role will come. Wait until the proper moment."
He had offered no explanation beyond that.
Only patience.
Now...
He Himself had appeared.
Which could only mean...
That moment had finally arrived.
Lord Vishnu looked at her with quiet approval.
"I once told you..."
"...that there would come a day when you would have your own part to play in this war."
"That day..."
He smiled softly.
"...has finally come."
The chamber became completely silent.
Surya Deva’s expression grew serious.
Chaya and Sandhya looked towards their daughter.
"...."
"...."
Yama quietly folded his arms.
All of them remembered that gathering.
All of them had been present when Indra, accompanied by the assembled Devas, had approached Lord Vishnu seeking a solution against Pushpasura.
They also remembered something else.
Among all those present...
Lord Vishnu had unexpectedly looked towards Yami.
Not Surya. Not Yama. Not Indra.
Only Yami.
He had entrusted her with something.
Though none of them knew exactly what it was.
Yami’s golden eyes widened in surprise.
Only for a heartbeat.
The next moment...
That surprise transformed into unwavering determination.
She stepped forward before respectfully bowing once again.
"My Lord... If this is the task You have entrusted to me..."
"I am ready."
Her voice contained neither hesitation nor fear.
Only resolve.
She slowly raised her head.
"Please command me."
"What must I do?"
"If it can help end this war... If it can protect Dharma... I shall fulfil it without hesitation."
Surya Deva quietly looked at his daughter.
Pride filled his heart.
Only moments earlier she had been a worried young woman, unable to hide her concern for the one she loved.
Now...
She stood once more as Goddess Yami.
The guardian of righteous departure.
A daughter of Surya.
A Devi prepared to fulfil her duty.
Lord Vishnu’s smile grew slightly broader.
"There is no need for haste."
he said gently.
"Every piece upon the board has now reached its destined place."
"Pushpasura has regained the entirety of the power he once possessed."
"Devaratha has endured every trial that fate demanded of him."
"The boon protecting Pushpasura has nearly fulfilled its purpose."
"The blessings carried by Devaratha have also reached the moment for which they were bestowed."
His lotus-like eyes reflected infinite wisdom.
"There are battles that are won through strength."
"There are battles that are won through knowledge."
"And then..."
He paused.
"There are battles that can only be won when the proper soul performs the proper act at the proper moment."
His gaze returned to Yami.
"That soul... is you."
Yami instinctively held her breath.
Lord Vishnu slowly extended one of His four hands.
A tiny golden lotus of pure divine light appeared above His palm, slowly revolving in the air.
Its brilliance reflected within every eye present in the chamber.
"It is time..."
He said with the same serene smile.
"...for you to learn why, from the very beginning of this war... your destiny was woven together with Devaratha’s."
The Surya family watched in complete silence.
No one interrupted. No one even breathed loudly.
Every heart waited.
For Lord Vishnu was finally about to reveal...
How Goddess Yami, who had spent a hundred days silently watching from Surya Loka...
Would become one of the keys to Devaratha’s ultimate victory over Pushpasura.
The divine lotus continued revolving gently above Lord Vishnu’s palm.
Its golden radiance illuminated every corner of the chamber, bathing the Surya family in a tranquil glow.
No one spoke. No one wished to interrupt.
For the words about to leave the lips of the Preserver Himself would determine the course of the war.
Lord Vishnu’s serene gaze rested upon Yami.
"Listen carefully."
"What I am about to tell you concerns not merely the fate of one warrior... but the fate of every realm."
Yami instinctively straightened her posture.
Her golden eyes reflected complete concentration.
Lord Vishnu slowly waved His hand.
The lotus before Him transformed into a vast celestial vision.
Within it appeared the plains of Malikavana.
The enormous crater created by Pushpasura dominated the battlefield.
Deep beneath the earth...
Devaratha’s body lay bound by countless black veins, completely motionless.
Only the faint rise and fall of his chest proved that he still lived.
Yami looked at the image with concern.
"My Lord... He is unconscious."
Lord Vishnu nodded gently.
"His body remains within Bhuloka."
"But his consciousness..."
He slowly pointed towards another image forming beside the first.
"...is elsewhere."
The second vision revealed the endless valley of flowers.
Devaratha wandered through it alone.
He continued searching desperately for an exit that simply did not exist.
No matter how far he walked...
The scenery never changed.
No matter how much divine power he released...
The illusion restored itself.
Every path led him back to the same place.
Every attempt at escape ended in failure.
Yami’s expression slowly changed.
"So... He truly cannot leave."
Lord Vishnu nodded once more.
"The Anandamohana Kusuma does not merely cloud the senses."
"It creates a prison for the mind."
"The longer one remains trapped inside... the more real that prison becomes."
He looked quietly at Devaratha’s wandering figure.
"For the first few days... A powerful will may still distinguish illusion from reality."
"But as time passes... The mind gradually accepts the illusion as its true home."
"The memories of the real world begin to blur."
"The desire to escape slowly disappears."
Yami’s fingers unconsciously tightened.
Lord Vishnu’s voice became quieter.
"Eventually... The consciousness ceases struggling altogether."
"It enters a state known among the ancient Yogis as..."
The chamber fell deathly silent.
Even Surya Deva’s expression grew grave.
Yama slowly unfolded his arms.
Both Chaya and Sandhya exchanged worried glances.
They had heard the name before.
But only within ancient scriptures.
Lord Vishnu continued.
"It is not ordinary sleep. It is not unconsciousness. It is a state in which the soul willingly withdraws from reality."
"The body continues living."
"The mind continues dreaming."
"But the person’s will gradually dissolves."
"They no longer desire to awaken."
"They no longer remember why they should awaken."
He looked directly into Yami’s eyes.
"If Devaratha enters that state... even awakening him by force will become nearly impossible."
Yami felt her heart sink.
"And..."
she asked softly,
"...what would happen then?"
Lord Vishnu slowly closed His eyes.
"The war would end."
Not with victory. Not with defeat.
Simply...
End.
"The allied armies would lose the one person capable of standing before Pushpasura."
"Pushpasura’s boon would complete its purpose."
"No kingdom remaining upon Bhuloka could oppose him."
"One after another... The mortal kingdoms would fall."
His voice remained calm.
Yet every word carried tremendous weight.
"The balance between Dharma and Adharma would collapse."
"Eventually... The destruction would no longer remain confined to Bhuloka."
"The disturbance would spread through the Lokas themselves."
"The Devas would be forced into direct intervention."
"And once such a war begins..."
He slowly opened His eyes.
"...every realm would suffer."
No one spoke.
The gravity of the situation had become unmistakable.
Lord Vishnu’s gaze returned to Yami.
"That... is why your role begins now."
Yami immediately bowed.
"My Lord. What must I do?"
Lord Vishnu smiled gently.
"You already possess the path."
Yami looked up in confusion.
"I do?"
Lord Vishnu nodded.
"The pearl necklace worn around Devaratha’s neck."
"The one blessed by you."
"You remember it."
Yami nodded her head. She was using that connection to keep tabs on him.
"Yes."
Lord Vishnu continued.
"The pearls do more than protect him from corruption."
"They also carry a subtle spiritual resonance."
He looked directly at her.
"A resonance... that has gradually connected with your own divine essence."
Yami’s eyes widened slightly.
"My essence?"
Lord Vishnu smiled knowingly.
"Every prayer you unconsciously offered for him..."
"Every moment your thoughts lingered upon him..."
"Every blessing you silently wished for his safety... They were not meaningless."
"The necklace received them."
"It quietly accepted them."
"And over time... It created a bridge."
Yami stared silently at the celestial vision of Devaratha.
"So... I can reach him."
Lord Vishnu nodded his head with a smile.
"Yes. You must use that connection."
"You must project your consciousness through the pearl necklace."
"Enter his mind."
"Find him within the illusion."
The chamber became silent once again.
Then...
Lord Vishnu’s expression turned noticeably more serious.
"But..."
"There is something you must understand."
"This will not be without danger."
Yami listened carefully.
"The illusion created by Anandamohana Kusuma does not distinguish between friend and enemy."
"It traps every consciousness equally."
"The moment you enter... You too shall perceive that false paradise."
"You too shall smell its fragrance."
"You too shall feel its temptation."
His voice became firm.
"If your will falters... If even for a single moment you begin believing the illusion..."
"...you will become trapped alongside Devaratha."
Yami’s breathing became slightly heavier.
Lord Vishnu continued.
"Should that happen..."
"There will be no one left capable of reaching either of you."
"You will both drift deeper into Mahāsupta Nidra together."
The warning lingered heavily in the chamber.
Chaya immediately looked towards her daughter.
Sandhya’s expression filled with concern.
"...."
"...."
"...."
Even Surya Deva’s brows furrowed.
Yama remained silent.
He understood the danger better than anyone.
This was not merely entering someone’s dream.
It was willingly stepping into a prison designed to make its prisoners never wish to leave.
Lord Vishnu looked at Yami with gentle compassion.
"Therefore... You must remain steadfast."
"No matter what you see... No matter what the illusion offers you... No matter how peaceful ...or how beautiful it appears..."
"You must never forget why you entered."
"You are not going there to remain."
"You are going there... to bring Devaratha back."
Silence settled over the chamber.
Yami slowly lowered her head.
For several long moments...
She said nothing.
Then she took a deep breath.
When she looked up again...
The hesitation in her eyes had disappeared.
Only unwavering determination remained.
She respectfully folded her hands before Lord Vishnu.
"My Lord... I understand."
"If entering that illusion is the only way to bring him back... Then I shall enter."
"If I must walk through that false paradise... I shall."
"If I must fight the illusion itself... I shall."
Her golden eyes shone with quiet resolve.
"I will not allow him to remain alone in that prison."
"I will bring him back."
"No matter what awaits me inside."
Lord Vishnu looked at her for a long moment.
Then...
A warm smile slowly appeared upon His face.
"Excellent."
He gently raised His hand in blessing.
"I expected nothing less... from the daughter of Surya. And from the one whose heart has already chosen its path."
