Yami took one last deep breath.
Lord Vishnu’s warning continued to echo inside her heart.
"Remember your purpose. The illusion does not attack with fear alone. It will search your heart."
"It will create a world made from your deepest wishes."
"Whatever happens... do not lose yourself."
Yami slowly nodded.
"I understand, My Lord. I will bring him back."
She gently closed her eyes.
The entire chamber became quiet.
Even the soft breeze flowing through Surya Loka seemed to stop, as though the heavens themselves did not wish to disturb her concentration.
A gentle golden radiance slowly emerged from her body.
Unlike a warrior releasing divine power before battle, her aura was soft and peaceful.
It surrounded her like flowing sunlight, illuminating every corner of the chamber.
Tiny particles of golden light began circling around her.
Her feet slowly lifted from the marble floor.
She floated several feet into the air, her long hair gently swaying despite there being no wind.
Surya Deva silently watched his daughter.
"...."
His cheerful expression from earlier had completely disappeared.
A father naturally worried when his child willingly stepped into danger.
Beside him, Chaya unconsciously clasped Sandhya’s hand.
Neither of them spoke.
Yama stood with folded arms, his eyes fixed upon his younger sister.
Although his face remained calm as always, everyone who knew him could tell he was worried.
Lord Vishnu quietly watched over everything.
His eyes closed for a brief moment as though blessing Yami’s journey.
Yami’s consciousness slowly spread outward.
She ignored the countless stars.
She ignored the endless divine currents flowing between the realms.
Her mind searched for only one thing.
The pearl necklace resting around Devaratha’s neck.
The necklace blessed by Goddess Yamuna.
Several long moments passed.
Nothing happened.
Then...
She felt it. A faint warmth. Very weak.
Almost like the heartbeat of someone sleeping far away.
"There..."
she whispered softly.
"I found you..."
Immediately, the pearls responded.
A silver thread of divine light slowly appeared before her.
It stretched endlessly into the distance, passing through the countless worlds until it disappeared somewhere within Bhuloka.
Without opening her eyes...
Yami reached towards it.
The instant her fingertips touched the thread, countless memories flashed before her.
She saw Devaratha receiving the necklace from her where she acted before him like a fisher women.
She saw every prayer she had silently offered for his safety.
Every moment she had stood before the celestial mirror hoping he would return safely.
Those feelings had quietly accumulated within the pearls all this time, creating a bridge between their souls.
The connection was complete.
Yami took one final breath.
Then...
Her consciousness dissolved into countless golden particles before travelling through the silver thread.
Everything disappeared.
There was no longer any sense of direction.
No up. No down. No light. No darkness.
Only endless silence.
"..."
"..."
"..."
Slowly...
Yami opened her eyes.
She immediately became alert.
Her golden eyes moved rapidly in every direction.
She expected to see endless flower fields.
She expected the sweet fragrance Lord Vishnu had warned her about.
She expected to find Devaratha wandering alone inside that false paradise.
Instead...
She completely froze.
Before her stood a magnificent royal pavilion unlike anything she had ever seen.
Towering golden pillars stretched high into the sky.
Silken banners embroidered with sacred symbols fluttered gently in the breeze.
Thousands upon thousands of fresh flowers decorated every corner.
The fragrance drifting through the air wasn’t overwhelming.
It was gentle. Pleasant.
The soothing scent of jasmine, lotus and sandalwood mixed together.
Rows of sacred lamps burned with calm golden flames.
The sound of Vedic chants echoed peacefully throughout the enormous hall.
Musicians played auspicious melodies upon divine instruments.
Yami slowly looked around.
"...Where... Where am I?"
Confusion filled her heart.
"This isn’t the battlefield. This isn’t the flower valley Lord Vishnu showed me."
Before she could understand anything...
Someone gently called out.
"Goddess..."
She instinctively turned towards the voice.
An elderly priest wearing spotless white robes smiled respectfully.
"The auspicious time has arrived."
"Please rise."
Yami blinked in confusion.
"...Rise?"
Only then did she realise...
She was already seated.
She slowly looked beside her.
The moment her eyes landed upon the person sitting next to her...
Her entire body became stiff.
It was Devaratha.
He wasn’t wearing bloodstained armour.
There wasn’t a single wound on his body.
His emerald eyes were calm.
His face carried the peaceful smile she had rarely seen throughout the war.
Instead of a king prepared for battle...
He looked like a groom.
He wore magnificent white silk embroidered with golden threads.
A royal shawl rested upon his shoulders.
Fresh flower garlands hung around his neck.
His crown reflected the light of countless lamps.
He turned towards her.
His smile was gentle.
"Shall we?"
Yami stared at him without blinking.
"...What?"
She could barely speak.
Before she managed to ask another question...
Several elderly women approached with bright smiles.
One of them gently adjusted the end of her sari.
Another fixed the flowers decorating her hair.
Only then did Yami instinctively look down at herself.
Her breathing stopped.
She wasn’t wearing her usual golden garments.
Instead...
She had been dressed as a bride.
A breathtaking crimson silk sari wrapped elegantly around her.
Intricate golden embroidery shimmered with every movement.
Beautiful ornaments decorated her wrists.
A delicate waistband rested around her waist.
Fresh jasmine flowers had been woven into her long hair.
Golden earrings gently swayed beside her cheeks.
A long flower garland rested around her neck.
Yami’s eyes widened.
"N-No... This... How..."
Her face immediately became bright red.
The elderly priest smiled warmly.
"The sacred fire awaits. It is time for the Saptapadi."
Before Yami could even gather her thoughts...
Devaratha slowly stood.
Then...
He naturally extended his hand towards her.
There wasn’t the slightest hesitation in his expression.
As though this day had always been waiting for them.
Without thinking...
Yami placed her trembling hand into his.
The warmth of his hand felt unbelievably real.
She unconsciously tightened her fingers.
The priest nodded with satisfaction.
"...."
Another attendant gently tied the end of Devaratha’s ceremonial cloth to the edge of Yami’s bridal sari.
The sacred knot had been completed.
Yami looked down at it.
Her cheeks became even redder.
"This... this is..."
She couldn’t even finish the sentence.
The Vedic chants became louder.
The sacred fire burned brightly before them.
"May the bride and groom begin the sacred seven steps."
The priest smiled.
Devaratha looked towards her.
"Come."
His voice was calm.
Warm.
Exactly as she had imagined countless times without ever admitting it even to herself.
Together...
They began walking around the sacred fire.
One step. Then another.
The gathered guests watched with joyful smiles.
As Yami slowly looked around... Her heart skipped a beat.
Standing nearby was Surya Deva.
His face was filled with fatherly pride.
Beside him stood Chaya and Sandhya.
Both of them smiled through tear-filled eyes.
Yama stood with folded arms.
Although he tried maintaining his usual serious expression...
The corners of his lips had risen into a faint smile.
Not far away...
Lord Shiva watched peacefully beside Goddess Parvati.
Lord Brahma smiled while Goddess Saraswati offered blessings.
Lord Vishnu Himself stood nearby with Goddess Lakshmi.
Indra.
Agni.
Varuna.
Vayu.
Kubera.
The Saptarishis.
Countless Devas had gathered.
All of them looked towards the two of them with warm smiles.
As they completed another round around the sacred fire...
The heavens themselves seemed to celebrate.
Celestial flowers began raining from above.
Soft laughter echoed through the grand pavilion.
Everywhere she looked...
People blessed them.
"May your married life be filled with happiness."
"May both of you remain together forever."
"May Dharma always guide your family."
"May your union be eternal."
Yami remained completely speechless.
She slowly turned towards Devaratha.
He smiled at her.
Not as a king. Not as a warrior.
Simply...
As the man she had quietly fallen in love with while watching him from afar every single day.
Deep inside her heart...
Something began whispering.
"Isn’t this what you wanted? The war is over. He survived."
"He isn’t suffering anymore. Your family accepts him."
"The gods themselves have blessed your marriage. There are no more tears."
"No more blood. No more pain."
"Stay. You don’t have to leave."
Yami’s heart trembled.
For a brief moment...
She forgot why she had come.
She simply stood there, surrounded by smiling faces, holding Devaratha’s hand as the sacred fire danced before them.
The illusion had not tempted her with power.
It had not tempted her with glory.
Instead...
It had shown her the one future she had secretly prayed for during every single day of the war.
A peaceful life...
Standing beside the man she loved.
The sacred fire slowly burned lower as the final Vedic mantras came to an end.
The priest raised both hands in blessing.
"The marriage is complete."
"From this day onward... may the two of you walk together through every joy and every hardship."
The gathered gods showered another rain of celestial flowers upon them.
Soft music echoed throughout the magnificent pavilion.
Every face carried happiness.
Lord Shiva smiled gently while Parvati looked upon the newly married couple with motherly affection.
Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi offered their blessings.
Lord Brahma and Goddess Saraswati nodded with peaceful smiles.
Surya Deva looked as proud as any father watching his daughter begin a new Chapter of her life.
Chaya and Sandhya wiped away tears of happiness.
Even Yama stepped forward.
He looked at Devaratha for several moments before giving a single approving nod.
"Take care of her."
Devaratha smiled.
"I will."
Yami stood quietly beside him.
Everything felt... So real.
The warmth of Devaratha’s hand.
The sacred fire.
The smiling faces of both their families.
Nothing felt like an illusion anymore.
Her heart slowly relaxed.
The anxious thoughts she had brought from Surya Loka quietly drifted away.
The war... Pushpasura... Bhuloka...
Those memories became strangely distant.
Like a dream that had happened long ago.
Someone gently called her name.
"Yami."
She turned hearing her name being called.
Devaratha was smiling at her.
"Come."
Before she could ask where...
The entire scene dissolved.
The grand marriage pavilion faded into countless golden petals that drifted into the sky.
The sacred fire disappeared.
The chants slowly became distant.
Everything around her blurred.
When her vision became clear once more...
She found herself standing in the courtyard of an enormous palace.
Warm sunlight illuminated marble corridors lined with flowering trees.
The sound of birds echoed peacefully through the gardens.
Servants walked around with cheerful expressions.
Children laughed somewhere nearby.
It felt... Lived in.
Like a home that had been filled with happiness for many years.
Yami blinked in confusion.
"...Where..."
Before she could finish...
A loud childish voice interrupted her.
"Mother!!"
She instinctively turned around.
Two small figures came running towards her as fast as their little legs could carry them.
The first was a little boy, perhaps six or seven years old.
His emerald-green eyes looked almost identical to Devaratha’s.
Yet the shape of his face and the softness of his smile unmistakably resembled Yami.
His dark hair was slightly messy as though he had spent the entire day playing outside.
Beside him ran a little girl.
She had long golden hair that shimmered beneath the sunlight.
Her bright golden eyes looked exactly like Yami’s.
Yet whenever she smiled...
It was impossible not to think of Devaratha.
The two children reached her almost at the same time.
Without hesitation...
The little girl wrapped both arms around Yami’s waist.
"Mother!"
The little boy immediately followed.
"We found you!"
Yami completely froze.
"...Mother?"
