Kandarpaasura had entered the Swayamvara with complete confidence.

He had convinced himself that once Yami understood the situation, she would eventually surrender to his demand.

Her father was suffering, her kingdom was drowning in darkness and every life within Surya Lok was being affected by his power.

In his mind, that fear would be enough to make her choose him.

But Yami had never wavered.

She had walked past him without even giving him the satisfaction of seeing fear in her eyes, reached Devara and placed the garland around his neck as though the decision had been made long before Kandarpaasura ever stepped into the realm.

For several heartbeats, Kandarpaasura simply stood there simply recalling everything since his out burst being rejected.

He couldn’t understand it.

Then the reaction of the assembly finally reached him.

Laughter.

Several of the gods and celestial guests could no longer contain themselves.

What had begun as nervous silence quickly turned into amused whispers and open laughter as they watched the mighty Asura standing there after being rejected by the very woman he had expected to intimidate.

One of the Devas shook his head.

"He actually believed the princess of Surya Lok would choose him because he covered her kingdom in darkness."

Another laughed as he added.

"A Rakshasa threatening a goddess and expecting her to be impressed by it. What did he think would happen?"

A third voice came from somewhere among the gathered guests.

"Perhaps he thought frightening a woman was the same as winning her heart."

More laughter followed.

Kandarpaasura’s face slowly darkened.

His eyes moved across the assembly, The laughter.

The mocking expressions.

The gods who were openly enjoying his humiliation.

His gaze eventually settled upon Devara and Yami standing together.

His fists tightened.

For a moment, everyone expected him to attack.

The celestial warriors raised their weapons.

Indra’s hand moved toward his weapon.

Karna stepped closer to Surya Dev.

Even the Trimurtis watched Kandarpaasura carefully, prepared to react if he crossed the line.

But Kandarpaasura did something completely unexpected.

He didn’t attack.

He didn’t retreat.

He simply walked toward an empty section of the ceremonial ground and sat down.

Crossing his legs, he straightened his back and closed his eyes.

The entire hall became confused.

"What is he doing?"

Kandarpaasura ignored them.

His breathing gradually slowed.

The darkness surrounding Surya Lok continued to spread, but now it seemed to gather around him as though responding to his meditation.

Lord Brahma’s expression immediately changed.

"Stop him."

Several Devas looked toward him.

Brahma’s voice became firm.

"Do not allow him to enter deep meditation."

Brahma looked toward Kandarpaasura.

"If he completes the meditation, this situation will become far worse."

The hall fell silent.

Brahma continued.

"You have all seen what his darkness can do while he is awake. Imagine what happens if he deliberately binds that darkness to his consciousness before entering meditation."

Surya Dev’s expression hardened.

"You mean he could permanently seal my light?"

Brahma nodded.

"That is exactly what I fear."

He looked toward the assembled Devas.

"If Kandarpaasura reaches the deepest stage of his meditation, his darkness may become anchored to Surya Lok itself. Even if someone manages to kill him afterward, the darkness may not disappear."

A chill passed through the assembly.

Brahma’s voice became even more serious.

"Do you understand what that means?"

No one answered.

"It means killing him may not save this realm."

The darkness around Kandarpaasura pulsed once.

Brahma continued.

"Surya Lok could remain permanently separated from Surya Dev’s radiance. And if that happens, the consequences will not stop here. The darkness will eventually begin spreading beyond this realm."

Indra immediately turned toward the celestial warriors.

"Then wake him before he reaches that stage."

Brahma shook his head.

"Careful... Because if you attack him while he is meditating, he may interpret it as a violation of the condition protecting him."

Indra’s expression became grim.

"..."

Brahma looked toward the darkness.

"Then he may release everything he has been holding back."

The laughter from the assembly had disappeared completely.

Kandarpaasura remained perfectly still in the centre of the ceremonial grounds.

His eyes were closed.

His breathing had almost completely slowed.

The darkness continued moving around him.

And suddenly everyone understood what he was doing.

He had lost the Swayamvara.

He had been humiliated.

But instead of throwing a tantrum or charging into battle, Kandarpaasura had chosen something far more dangerous.

He had decided to sit down and wait.

And if nobody stopped him before his meditation reached its deepest stage, Surya Lok might never see the light again.

The moment Brahma’s warning reached the assembly, the atmosphere changed completely. There was no more room for hesitation.

Almost every Deva present immediately summoned their divine weapons, understanding that allowing Kandarpaasura to complete his meditation could turn the darkness covering Surya Lok into something permanent.

Indra raised his weapon first.

"Attack him now!"

The celestial warriors and Devas released their attacks almost simultaneously.

Blades of divine light, celestial arrows, spears and other weapons tore through the darkness toward the motionless Kandarpaasura.

But before any of them could reach him, the darkness surrounding the Asura suddenly compressed.

A massive black barrier formed around him.

The incoming weapons struck it one after another.

Instead of breaking through, they began to slow down.

The radiance surrounding several divine weapons started fading the moment they touched the barrier, while some were swallowed by the darkness and disappeared completely.

Others simply fell to the ground after their divine energy had been drained away.

Indra’s expression hardened.

"What?"

Another wave of attacks followed.

The result was the same.

The barrier remained.

Kandarpaasura didn’t even open his eyes.

He continued sitting in meditation as though nothing happening around him mattered.

Devara watched the barrier carefully.

His mind began working through every possibility.

’How do we get through that?’

His eyes moved across the darkness.

Then he remembered something.

An ability he had obtained long ago.

Black Hole.

Devara’s expression changed.

The ability was dangerous enough that he rarely considered using it casually.

A black hole could consume matter and absorb light itself.

Normally, using something like that inside a celestial realm would be an extremely reckless decision.

But there was something different about Kandarpaasura’s darkness.

Devara had been watching it closely ever since the Asura arrived.

It wasn’t behaving like ordinary darkness.

Ordinary darkness had no physical state.

It was simply the absence of light.

But Kandarpaasura’s darkness was different.

It moved like smoke and it gathered.

It flowed. It could be compressed into barriers.

It could be released in waves.

It behaved almost like a vast cloud of dark energy.

Devara’s eyes narrowed.

’If his darkness has taken a gaseous form...’

His mind immediately connected the pieces.

’A black hole doesn’t just absorb light. It pulls matter toward itself.’

If Kandarpaasura’s darkness truly had a physical state, even if that state was created through divine power, perhaps the gravitational pull of the Black Hole could drag it away.

But there was a problem.

A very serious one.

If he created the Black Hole too close to Surya Lok, it could potentially consume far more than the darkness.

The realm itself.

The celestial structures.

The surrounding matter.

Possibly even the people standing nearby.

Devara clenched his fist.

’I need to control the range.’

His eyes shifted toward Kandarpaasura.

The Asura was still sitting motionless.

But then something changed.

His lips began moving.

A low chant emerged from within him.

The sound was barely audible at first.

Then the words became clearer.

A mantra.

Kandarpaasura’s meditation had entered another stage.

The darkness around him began responding to every syllable.

It gathered more densely around his body, forming layers of black energy that slowly rotated around him.

Brahma’s expression changed.

"He has begun."

Indra immediately shouted toward the others.

"Don’t let him finish!"

Another barrage of divine weapons was launched.

But the darkness barrier remained.

Devara stared at Kandarpaasura.

His mind was already made up.

’If I am going to do this, I have to do it now.’

He slowly stepped forward.

Yami noticed him who had moved forward.

"Devara?"

He didn’t answer immediately.

His eyes remained fixed on the swirling darkness.

The mantra continued.

The darkness grew thicker.

And somewhere deep within Devara’s mind, the dangerous ability he had avoided using for so long is the effective way to deal with this rakshasa.

If what he assumed was right.

A tiny black point suddenly appeared at the very tip of Devara’s finger.

At first, it was so small that it looked almost insignificant, nothing more than a dark speck floating against the unnatural darkness surrounding the ceremonial hall.

But the moment it stabilized, the space around it began to distort.

Devara’s eyes narrowed.

It was working.

The darkness surrounding Kandarpaasura’s barrier began to move toward the tiny black point.

At first, only thin wisps were drawn away, curling through the air like smoke being pulled toward an unseen current.

Then the pull became stronger, and entire streams of Kandarpaasura’s darkness started peeling away from the barrier and disappearing into the miniature black hole.

Devara maintained his concentration.

"So it really does work."

Several of the gods noticed what was happening and immediately turned their attention toward him.

Even the Trimurtis had noticed.

Lord Shiva’s expression became serious as he watched the tiny singularity forming at his son’s fingertip.

"Devara."

Devara glanced toward him.

"Yes, Father?"

"Be extremely careful."

Shiva’s eyes remained fixed on the black hole.

"If you lose control of that ability, even for a moment, and it comes into contact with the physical matter of Surya Lok, it may begin consuming everything around it."

Devara understood immediately.

"I know."

He carefully adjusted his hand, keeping the miniature black hole away from the ground and every structure around him.

"I won’t let it touch the realm."

Shiva nodded, though the concern in his expression remained.

Devara then focused his attention on the darkness surrounding Kandarpaasura.

The more darkness he pulled toward himself, the more clearly the barrier began to weaken.

The gods who had been attacking it noticed the change as well.

Devara raised his voice.

"Keep attacking!"

Indra looked toward him.

"What are you doing?"

"I’m removing the darkness from the barrier. Your attacks are weakening it, but the darkness keeps regenerating. I’m going to pull that darkness away."

Another stream of black energy was dragged toward Devara’s fingertip.

The tiny black hole remained perfectly contained.

"Don’t stop!"

The gods immediately resumed their assault.

Divine weapons struck the weakening barrier one after another, each impact sending ripples across its surface.

Kandarpaasura remained seated in meditation.

His mantra continued.

But now, for the first time, the darkness protecting him was beginning to disappear.

Devara’s expression became more focused as he continued drawing it away.

"Come on..."

More and more of the dark energy separated from the barrier.

The black hole consumed it without producing any visible explosion, simply pulling the strange darkness into its tiny gravitational prison.

The barrier became thinner.

Then thinner still.

Indra saw the opening forming.

"Everyone! Increase the pressure!"

The celestial warriors unleashed another combined attack.

The weakened barrier shook violently.

Kandarpaasura’s chanting continued uninterrupted.
