Chapter 356: Chapter 343: Illusion Array (Part 2)

Somewhere in the southern part of the Yinfeng Realm.

Zhao Lin, Wei Shi, and Li Zhe were making their way through the Jue Forest. Giant ferns grew in abundance here, their fronds so dense they blotted out the sky, making it feel as if they had stepped back into a prehistoric age.

The environment here strongly suppressed Divine Sense, making it easier to conceal their presence.

They just had to get through the next seven or eight hours safely, and then they could head to Central Yin Mountain and return to the outside world.

Zhao Lin had already made up his mind. ’Once I’m out of the Yinfeng Realm, I’ll find a way to learn more about that Fat Cultivator. If he keeps bothering me, I’ll find a chance to teach him a lesson sooner or later.’

’As long as I break through to the Qi Refining Fourth Layer, I’ll be able to master Major Accomplishment-level Magic. Once I reach the Qi Refining Fifth Layer, I’ll even be able to use Perfected-level Magic.’

’At that point, unless I run into a Magic master like Miao Kefa, most Late-stage Qi Refining cultivators won’t be a match for me.’

"Cultivator Zhao, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you privately."

Li Zhe suddenly spoke up.

"What is it? Can’t you say it in front of Brother Wei?"

Zhao Lin’s expression didn’t change, though he was curious. He couldn’t just agree in front of Wei Shi; it might cause bad blood between them.

"Haha, no worries. You two talk. I’ll just go look around over there, see if I can find any Yinfeng Grass."

With a laugh, Wei Shi made an excuse and walked off.

Once Wei Shi was out of earshot, Li Zhe lowered its voice. "I know where to find Star Peony Grass."

Zhao Lin was slightly taken aback. "Didn’t you say you’ve never been here? How would you know about Star Peony Grass?"

Li Zhe explained frankly, "It’s true, I haven’t been here before. This territory belongs to another thousand-year-old Yin Soul. We can communicate using our Divine Sense. It’s the one that told me."

"Where is it?"

Zhao Lin glanced around, then remembered. ’A Yin Soul’s Divine Sense can reach a thousand zhang; it must have hidden itself long ago.’ He then asked, "What did it say?"

"It asked what I was doing here. I said I was just passing through and told it not to worry."

"I knew you wanted to gather Yinfeng Grass and Star Peony Grass, so I asked if there were any of these two Spirit Grasses around. It told me about a place where there’s a lot of Star Peony Grass."

"A lot of Star Peony Grass?"

Hearing this, Zhao Lin’s interest was piqued. He stroked his chin and began to think.

’A single Star Peony Grass is worth ten Spirit Stones and five merit points—far more valuable than Yinfeng Grass.’

’I had planned to leave this pocket dimension tomorrow, and I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the results so far. But if I can harvest some Star Peony Grass, this trip will be a true success.’

Zhao Lin thought for a moment and asked, "Can we trust it?"

Li Zhe scratched its cap with a tentacle and said, "It should be reliable. Yin Souls don’t need Star Peony Grass. There’s no benefit for it in tricking me."

"However... it told me that at the place where the Star Peony Grass is, there is a Soul-Devourer."

All things in creation have their checks and balances. Yin Souls were not without natural enemies in the Yinfeng Realm.

The Soul-Devourer is a type of Demon Beast in the Yinfeng Realm that lives on Corpse Qi and carrion. It especially loves to eat Yin Souls; even thousand-year-old Yin Souls wouldn’t dare to provoke one.

The Soul-Devourer is the nemesis of Yin Souls, but to Human Race cultivators, it’s nothing special—just an ordinary mid-grade Demon Beast.

"You’re telling me this privately because you’re afraid Wei Shi will want a share?"

"Correct!"

"I’m surprised you’re this calculating, but that won’t be necessary."

Zhao Lin smiled to himself. ’Since I already stepped in to save Wei Shi, I might as well be completely aboveboard and look for the Star Peony Grass together.’

’From the looks of it, Wei Shi is worth getting to know better. If I cut him out and we run into that Fat Cultivator on the way back to Central Yin Mountain, I won’t have anyone to back me up.’

Zhao Lin still had his doubts about Li Zhe.

’This Yin Soul is strange. After trying to steal my soul when we first met, everything it’s done since has been to help me. It’s baffling.’

’If it’s holding a grudge, it could easily cause trouble for me by leaking my location to the Fat Cultivator.’

"Younger Brother Wei, I have something to tell you."

Zhao Lin found Wei Shi and told him about the Star Peony Grass.

"Such a great opportunity!"

Wei Shi glanced at Li Zhe in surprise and said, "We happen to have some time, so let’s go get the Star Peony Grass. But let me say this now: I won’t take a single stalk of the Star Peony Grass we find. It all belongs to you, Brother Zhao."

Zhao Lin waved his hand dismissively. "There’s no need for that. In the Cultivation Realm, the rule is that everyone present gets a share."

He then turned his gaze to Li Zhe. "Then we’ll trouble you to lead the way, Daoist Friend Li."

"Of course, of course."

Li Zhe seemed very happy with this form of address, its tentacles floating up in excitement.

And so, Li Zhe led the way with Zhao Lin and Wei Shi following. They exited the Jue Forest and soon arrived before a nearby mountain nicknamed "Big Belly Mountain."

"It’s in this area."

After circling to a slope on the western side of Big Belly Mountain, Li Zhe floated around for a while before suddenly shouting, "Over here!"

Zhao Lin and Wei Shi hurried forward and saw a hidden cave entrance.

The mouth of the cave was almost completely obscured by vines and shrubs; you wouldn’t have noticed it without looking closely.

Zhao Lin used his iron ruler to push aside the vines and sent an ultrasonic wave into the cave.

Li Zhe and Wei Shi didn’t understand what he was doing, but they were tactful enough not to speak, waiting quietly to the side.

The cave was very deep. The ultrasonic wave entered it, and a long time passed before it returned.

After a dozen breaths, Zhao Lin had a rough idea of the cave’s layout.

The space inside was quite open. Not far from the entrance was a spherical cavern, and after a connecting passage, there seemed to be an even larger one.

The whole interior was shaped like a gourd.

"Let’s go!"

Zhao Lin strode into the cave, with Li Zhe and Wei Shi following close behind.

He had expected the cave to be pitch-black. To his surprise, the walls were dotted with palm-sized stones emitting a faint, blue phosphorescence. The light within was even brighter and clearer than it had been outside.

After walking about a hundred paces, the path suddenly opened up into a cavern several dozen zhang across.

Directly across the cavern, there was a conspicuous, pear-shaped opening.
