Bonus Chapter at 2.5k stones.
Get cracking.
...
The new influx of readers, who were just finishing Fight Club, didn’t exactly know which of John Doe’s works to read first.
That’s when the saviour known as Imanahaq came into the picture. Well, the new readers saw her as a saviour because she gave them the perfect reading order.
Look Back.
Your Name.
5 Centimetre Per Second.
Thus, the caramel-and-100 % dark chocolate sandwich was born.
From Look Back’s heartbreak, to Your Name’s sweet ending, then back to pain in 5 Centimetre Per Second that crushed their budding hope of another sweet romance.
It was the order that became the standard starter combo readers recommended to their friends and families almost collectively. Imanahaq didn’t ask anyone; there was no coordination.
All the OG readers and their minds synced in that moment perfectly when they saw the first wave of new readers, and at the end, they had a good laugh at the wailing of the poor souls they had pushed down the pit.
Compared to that, things were a touch too calm in the Princess Mononoke comments. Most of the readers, after being baptised by the starter combo, had realized that this story was a slow one, so they had left it to marinate while picking up Pluto.
They had thought that since it was a full volume, it would keep them occupied for a while. But they couldn’t be more wrong.
It didn’t matter who picked it up. Whether they were a Sci-fi enjoyer, a mystery and thriller nut, or psychological savvy reader, by the time they had come to their senses, they had read through the 200-page book in one sitting.
And then they all decided to jump on the forum together like a herd of unchained beasts.
JPMarine—First!!!
Gideon—We have found him, the legendary sacrifice.
Jonah Rivera—Son.
Vinicius Viera—Robots, murder mystery, and heartache all rolled into one?
JohnDoeSimp67—Just when you thought John had achieved his final form, he evolved to cause us more grief.
ItsDragonking—He better be writing more.
JohnDoeSympathizer0—Chill bro, give him time to cook.
Ave_astrid—I hope both sides of his pillows are hot for all eternity.
Angry_beaver—That’s a lot of damage!
Spoiderman—Not even flex tape can fix that.
TheMaker—I thought John Doe couldn’t go deeper into psychology after Fight Club, and here he comes with Pluto. I cannot lie, I have missed my flight again, and I am not even mad.
Coolkidsforsale—At this point, the University will have to reach bro’s doorstep.
TheMaker—I don’t even want to go to university at this point until I have read all of this. Pluto is the only thing on my mind lately. Robots trying to blend in with Humanity, the Murder mystery involving the seven greatest robots, and how the world reacts to these robots that had become nearly unidentifiable from humans. I cannot wait for the next volume.
whyarewesoblindtosee—I swear I couldn’t even tell Gesicht was a robot. Until the part he spoke about it, I felt I was looking at a mirror.
Thattheonewehurtisyouandme—Istg he is such a gem of a person/robot, whatever you wanna call him.
Francesco_Bracetti—Mont Blanc is the real goat; we need more people like him irl.
Usern4me—We don’t need more people like him; we have to be like him. We have to save our planet!
Ark_D_Lucifer—Mother Earth will be protected!
gryfindorheir—Earth is flat.
Ark_D_Lucifer—Say that again. *Insert picture of Earth-chan
gryfindorheir—Gasps in horny
Over_The_Moon69—Mont Blanc must’ve been precious; I still hate that doctor for talking down on my goat Gesicht.
Iamdifferentfromotherreaders001—Goat? Gesicht is average though, needless mystery and lazy writing. Other readers’ reactions got my hopes up, but this just isn’t connecting with me. And that is a problem.
NorthNo.2’sLegalwife—The real precious one is North No. 2.
NorthNo.2’sLegalBro—I was getting so pissed at that old man for talking down to my goat.
StanHimself—At first, I wanted to slap that old man since he was my age. Then I wanted to call my wife to slap his mother and hug him. Then I realised everyone in that room needed a hug. I just wanna hug them and tell them stories.
Thisisbait—Old man was a dumb-dumb since childhood, bro really made his mother suffer while cursing her all his life.
NorthNo.2’sMourningWife67—Why did they have to kill my boy North? Whyyyyyy?!!!
Jack_Alexander24—I think the writer just enjoys our suffering; why make someone so likeable when you wanna kill them off?
Ssense—I think that is the point.
Brando’sOfficialFan001—NO! My boy Brando. Don’t do him like North pls John Doe. I am begging you. Leave my giant mecha wrestler alone. Who’s gonna take care of his wife and kids?
Premanshu_Kumar—I will.
Brando’sOfficialFan001—Downvote this guy right now!
Somethingisntrighthere—I just realized that Atom is also a robot, an advanced one at that.
Atom’sRealMom—NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TheMaker—@THEREALSTARK My friend, you have to read this.
THEREALSTARK—@TheMaker Mr. Stark is not here at the moment.
TheMaker—Oh, ok. Guess I’ll just reread this myself.
Chevisito—Someone wants to play mysterious.
ReadingAddict—The next volume, I need it, I need it now!!!!
Iamnotlikeotherreaders23—This is average AF. Seen it done a hundred times, and it will surely follow the same pattern. Couldn’t even connect with the characters; they are bland. The Author lost a reader today.
Imanahaq—Anti-slander squad, assemble.
Well, even if the entire comment section was in shambles, John only looked over them once in a while.
He was inside the Specialized training room, stylus in his hand. A better half of the free time he had last week, he had spent all here.
Even now, he was working on volume 6 of Pluto after completing Princess Mononoke. The latter would end by next week, as he planned to release a Chapter every 3-4 days.
As for why he was hellbent on finishing Pluto? It’s because the room had heightened his focus to a new level. The neat part was that he could connect to the internet even from inside here.
The computer didn’t exactly need electricity to run; it was some future tech jargon that he couldn’t be bothered to go into detail about. Water to wine, it was on that level from where he stood.
He had planned to release one volume of Pluto every week. As John kept thinking about which story to release next, his hand was moving over the tablet at a blinding pace.
With his Bloodline awakened fully, the lines became easier the more he drew. The pressure, the length, the hand movement, the dexterity- it started to shoot through the roof.
The progress was so addicting that he had finished the Volume in a little over an hour. All unnecessary movements were leaving his actions with each page. It was honestly a different experience.
’Should I give them comedy next?’ John wanted the readers to recover after they finished Princess Mononoke and Pluto.
And if possible, he wanted to add a shonen series and see how the EP system behaved.
For the comedy, his initial thought was to go for Monthly Girl’s Nozaki-Kun from the anime.
But given the ten-copyright limit at the moment, he had to choose longer works for these projects as they’d help the readers unwind between heavier works that he would release in between to reap big EP.
Golden Boy was a funny one, but there was no telling how that humour would land with an audience that wasn’t that familiar with manga in general.
’Saiki might work better.’ John spun on his chair with the stylus Mustache.
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K was probably his go-to if he needed a laugh after a tough day. The humour was pretty good and tame, plus the setting itself would land with the mutants at the very least.
And it was a long series with 26 volumes.
’I just hit the jackpot!!!’ He started waving his hands around like a fool.
"Now for the shonen." John stopped his dance for a moment and stretched his hunched back.
The good thing was that Shonen series were often long-running ones; for once he was spoiled with choices.
First there were the classics. The big guns he wanted to keep on hand after seeing how the Shonen genre landed.
Maybe he should pull a Togashi on them with the Hiatus X Hiatus; that would surely get him a lot of EP.
Then works that had mass appeal and range came next; if possible, John wanted to start with one of these.
But even if something like MHA had a high chance of connecting with the mutants, he wanted to test the waters with Saiki first and see how they reacted before considering the former one.
Jujutsu Kaisen would most likely work because of the modern setting and had good pacing, characters, and power system.
However, with JJK, he was slightly worried about Boogie Woogie becoming known to everyone, but he also wondered if it would trigger the binding vow like it did in the show.
’Guess I’ll learn that when the time comes.’ AIM already knew, and since Task Master also knew, he might spread it around for extra money.
Even if people knew, it wouldn’t change much.
And then there was the wild card category.
’I really wanna start with Jojo.’ John sighed.
People loved Jojo, but it started slow. The thing that had made it iconic, the stands, were in part three. So, it wasn’t the best choice to kick off Shounen, and he didn’t want to start with part three either.
Even if the first two parts were slow and some readers skipped them, they were an integral part of what made Jojo into the cultural phenomenon Jojo had become.
"Guess I should put a pin in this one for now." He nodded to himself before putting the computer inside his inventory.
As much as he wanted to release everything at once, that wasn’t the most economical choice both for him and the readers.
’And this is enough rest.’ The time for training came next.
