Chapter 70: Bonus - : Thor and Loki

Chapter 70: Bonus Chapter: Thor and Loki

This is the bonus for last week’s 7.5k stones.

Dunno why I thought i had already scheduled this and only saw that i haven’t when I saw some of the recent comments.

It is here now, enjoy.

...

"Well, if you have time, there are things I need help with." She smiled politely.

"Alright then, show me the way." Thor cracked his knuckles.

The enthusiasm didn’t last long since it was just relocating some old furniture to the carpenter. All Thor had to do was load it on the truck’s bed.

Even without his powers, he still had great physical strength, so moving a cupboard or sofa wasn’t that much for him.

’Good thing he didn’t just throw it on there like a sack of potatoes.’ Jane followed with an amused smile.

From the café, they went to the hospital, the police station, and many more places. Even though Jane had documented everything, visiting all these places on foot was quite the surreal experience, to say the least.

But even after walking all over the place under the scorching sun, Thor only had one complaint.

"Why does everyone keep asking me to do physical work?" He shook his head, having no chance to show his intellect and the knowledge he had gained from reading all those difficult books.

"I wonder why." Jane looked at the sweat-soaked grey T-Shirt clinging to Thor’s abs and his pumped biceps.

Coughing away, she took him to the last stop of the day. The SHIELD facility that seemed to be growing like a fungus on stale bread.

The guards by the iron doors were instantly on high alert when they saw Thor step out of the truck. Even if they pointed their guns at him, thankfully, no one made a move beyond that.

"Tell Phil, Son of Coul, that I come in peace." Thor’s voice rang out like thunder in the dry wind.

The soldiers looked just as tired as Jane under her umbrella, but Phil Coulson stepped out with a smile for some reason.

"I was just waiting for you." He took them inside and made them sit in an office room that shouldn’t have been in the middle of nowhere.

’If it wasn’t for the AC, I wouldn’t have entered.’ Jane almost allowed her expression to slacken. But she quickly remembered that these guys had stolen her life’s work.

Still, she could curse them while enjoying the cold air. As her internal battle raged on, Phil came back in and sat across Thor.

"I understand that you are here to ask for forgiveness." He placed the folder in his hand on the table.

"Yes." Thor nodded very seriously.

"Well, rather than apologies, I need some answers. If you can give me that, we can bury the hatchet." Phil leaned forward with a bureaucratic smile.

Honestly, he wanted to go back to New York and see this Captain America-type fighter Agent Romanoff had found. Just hearing Agent Hill talk about it had got him all curious.

However, he couldn’t exactly leave this place until he had sorted the things here. And that was the problem. Nothing was getting sorted. The biggest problem was the man in front of him.

"Who are you really? And where are you from?" Even with SHIELD working overtime, they hadn’t been able to get this guy’s true identity.

"I am Thor Odinson. I’m from Asgard."

Hearing him felt like some comic book character introducing themselves. And it only raised more questions in Phil’s head. Still, he could only move forward.

"What is that hammer-looking thing?" Phil opened the folder and showed multiple photos of the thing that had landed in that crater.

"It’s Mjolnir, forged in the heart of a dying star and given to me by the... All Father." Thor faltered a little by the end.

"That’s all nice, but can you move it?" The last time Phil saw him try, it didn’t go very well.

"Not right now..." Thor quietened a bit.

"Any idea when you will be able to do that?"

"...No."

"How quaint." Phil almost sighed, but as deflated as Thor seemed, he had to finish all the questions. No matter how ridiculous the answers seemed.

"Asgard, how do you get there? Spaceship? Some special portal in a cave?" Phil’s question wasn’t just for Thor alone. He was also eyeing Jane Foster. She had been following a phenomenon connected to this man calling himself a Norse God.

"Oh, by the Bifrost, of course. It can instantly send anyone anywhere across the Nine Realms." Thor beamed, finally something he could answer.

"And how does it work?" Phil also showed a restrained smile.

"Heimdall operates and guards it; he’s most definitely watching us here." Thor looked at the ceiling and gave a small wave. "Are you well, Heimdall?"

Jane and Phil looked at the white ceiling and bright LED lights with questioning eyes before looking back at Thor.

"Can you get him to use the Bifrost?" Phil tilted his head.

"He won’t listen to me now."

"Why? Aren’t you Thor Odinson?"

"It’s... complicated." Thor deflated again.

"Any idea how this Bifrost thing works?" Phil barely held his trained smile right now as Thor avoided his eyes.

"I’ll take that as a no." He closed the folder and stood up.

As the metal chair scraped against the tiles, Thor looked back at Phil with expectant eyes.

"So does that mean..."

"I have some boxes that need moving." Phil smiled.

"Damn it all." Thor struck the metal table with his fist.

Even then, he spent that evening helping the SHIELD researchers move things around. The good thing was that none of the security tried to pick a fight with him.

Some just watched him from a distance, and a few struck up conversation, trying to ask what martial arts he learned and how he trained.

And his answers always left them feeling like he was just trying to avoid the topic. It wasn’t easy to believe a person calling himself a Norse God, even if he looked the part.

By the time night arrived, Thor had passed by Mjolnir a dozen times. The first few times, he had the urge to look at it, but he started to focus more on the task at hand.

Looking at Mjolnir wouldn’t help him in the slightest. But before leaving, Thor talked with Phil again.

"I may not be able to explain how the Bifrost works, but Jane might be able to." Thor wanted to swipe a few more things as he did with the notebook last time, but most of them were a touch too big for that.

"Really?" Phil raised a brow; it wasn’t like he hadn’t considered that route; it just seemed to be lined with speed bumps.

"There is no need for me to lie to you, Phil, Son of Coul." Thor smiled at Jane, who was in the truck. "Just make up for what you did; it’ll be easier."

He walked away without waiting for a reply and climbed into the metal box with wheels.

"What were you talking about?" Jane’s eyes narrowed.

"Just some secrets between men," Thor said handsomely.

"Whatever." Jane rolled her eyes.

The moment they reached their base of operations, after having dinner outside for once, Jane and Thor were the only ones who were awake as the moon reached the zenith.

In the end, they sat outside, by the fire. Jane made herself a cup of Coffee because she still had work to do. Maybe she shouldn’t have followed after him the entire time.

"Are you really Thor Odinson?" Jane decided to ask; she still had her doubts, but curiosity was something she couldn’t curb.

"Yes, why would I lie to you?" Thor tilted his head, getting a beer for himself.

"That is true... It’s not like you can con me out of money." She shrugged.

"I was not talking about it in that way." Thor looked at her, really looked in her eyes. "I wouldn’t lie to you, Jane."

"Um..." Jane couldn’t exactly handle that sort of eye contact and shyly sipped her coffee, almost forgetting how hot it was.

To compensate for the embarrassment, the gears in her mind started to turn. If Thor was truly who he said he was, didn’t that mean that there were truly Nine Realms?

Wouldn’t this technically make Thor an alien? Were all aliens this handsome and cut?

’Oh god, am I getting drunk off coffee now?’ Jane shook her head in disappointment.

But suddenly, a question rose to the top of her mind. It had suddenly landed on the tip of her tongue. And as much as she knew it wouldn’t be the best thing to ask Thor, considering whatever he said was true, the words just came out like they had a mind of their own.

"Don’t you want to go back home? You said they were at war."

The moment she noticed his eyes lowering, Jane regretted asking that question.

And Thor felt exactly what she had expected.

There wasn’t a moment Thor didn’t think of his home in the past few days. He wanted to go back. But that would break the agreement with Jotunheim. And even if he was worried about Asgard, Loki was still there.

His father sought peace with the Frost giants after that vault incident, and Loki made that peace possible even after what Thor had done.

"My brother is there. He may not be as strong as me... from before. But he’s always been smarter than me, so I know he’ll handle it well until All Father wakes up."

Even if he could never return to Asgard again, he knew the future was in safe, wise hands.

But if he could return one day, he hoped he’d get a chance to apologize to his brother for putting such a heavy burden on his shoulders.
