After confirming that the remote targeting systems of the Helicarriers were fully functional from his smartphone, Luke leaned back in the ergonomic office chair and let out a long, satisfied sigh.
Just a few moments ago, he had teleported Natasha Romanoff and Maria Hill to Chennai, India. Sure, he might have gone a little overboard with his villainy today, but it was absolutely necessary.
Until now, Hill had been given just nice carrots. First, he told her about Hydra, then he even hijacked Lemurian Star for her absolutely free of charge (sure, he did if for TP, but he didn’t ask anything in return from Maria Hill or SHIELD, except for making Gwen come as well), and after that he even took Winter Soldier off the equation (sure, she never asked and he did it only for TP, but still...)
But despite all this, Hill was trying to cut him off.
Luke needed Hill for a long time, and she needed to understand and accept that she can’t escape the madman. That’s why today, he gave her the stick.
He had to be a little hard on her to establish boundaries.
He didn’t enjoy a second of it and feels really bad about doing that to her... (He really does feel bad!!!)
Anyway...
"Right. Now for the part where I make everyone’s day considerably worse..."

[Helicarrier IN-01]
The coast was almost entirely clear. Captain America and Team Alpha had done a fantastic job cleaning up, leaving only a handful of Hydra stragglers hiding on the decks.
Veritas casually strolled toward the ship’s main control bridge. He encountered a grand total of two Hydra mutants along the way.
But they barely had time to raise their rifles or use their powers before a swarm of black soot slammed them into the bulkheads, knocking them out cold in a single blow and then teleporting them away.
He couldn’t use mutants as hostages, at least not here... too much risk.
He walked inside, through narrow metal corridors, until he reached the main bridge. It was a long walkway suspended over a massive drop.
His floating smartphone zipped into his waiting hand. He grabbed it and tapped open the Terror Stream’s interface, scrolling down to the specific Terror Tool he had purchased just a couple of days ago for 10 Terror Points.
[My Terror Hideout - 10 TP]
Description:
[Register any vessel, vehicle, or architectural structure as your Home Base. All structural controls can be monitored, managed, and modified remotely via this tool. Enables the Home to have passive or active Anti-Surveillance, Auto-Clean, Auto-Repair, and Intruder Detection features... Tap to see more...]
[Lock-In period: 6 months]
The lock-in period meant he couldn’t change his registered base to a different vehicle or building for the next six months.
’Fair enough, I guess,’ Luke thought. Considering he was currently sitting inside a multi-billion-dollar flying fortress equipped with advanced cloaking technology and enough firepower to level a small country, he wasn’t exactly planning on moving out anytime soon.
It was arguably the best purchase he had ever made.
He tapped [Register].
Instantly, a subtle pulse of dark energy washed over the Helicarrier, linking the massive warship directly to his system.
’Whoa, what was that...’ Luke was surprised. ’It was so cool.’
Veritas sat down on the edge of the control console bridge, letting his legs dangle casually over the edge.
Through the newly integrated My Terror Hideout interface - and the cloned copy of Hill’s system - he could see that exactly two Hydra agents remained on the ship, both on the uppermost deck.
No worries, upper deck was fine. He’d use them as props later.
Using Hill’s cloned system and the ship’s satellite connection arrays, Veritas bypassed the security firewalls and accessed S.H.I.E.L.D.’s massive array of broadcast satellites. Obviously, the range of broadcast satellites was much greater than the Insight satellite.
He wasn’t just going to hijack the screens in Washington, D.C., or even the whole of America.
Today, he was hijacking the screens of the entire goddamn planet.
’This is so... incredibly risky,’ Luke thought, his heart doing a nervous little flip in his chest.
He took a slow, deep breath, steadying his racing heart. Then... he hit the broadcast button.
Veritas tilted his head to the camera.
"Hello, world..."
Beneath the mask, Luke couldn’t help but smile. ’I can’t believe I actually got to use the boilerplate print sentence for programming languages in real life... heh.’

For the citizens of Washington, D.C., peaceful mornings were rapidly becoming a thing of the past. Over the last couple of days, an explosive terrorist had made a habit of hijacking their screens.
This time, it wasn’t just Washington. It wasn’t just America.
From the massive neon billboards in Tokyo’s Shibuya Crossing, to the giant screens in Times Square, to millions of smartphones, laptops, and televisions in London, Mumbai, Paris, Jordan, Johannesburg - every single screen flickered, went black, and then resolved into the same image.
"Hello, World."
That same solid white mask. That same creepy black smile.
[Public Comments:]
[Lunaticia:] Hello, my Lord! We missed you!
[Rolando:] What the hell? Is this a prank? I was just watching the game!
[Henry_Cavil:] @Rolando Idk man, I was just setting up my new PlayStation 4 when my TV got hijacked.
[Halland:] Nice.
[Faizan:] I know this guy! He’s that American terrorist, isn’t he? Why is he streaming all the way out here in Saudi?
[Kim_jong_un_10283212:] I do not know who took my name as their username, but whoever it is, I will find you and I will kill you.
[Real_Kim_jong_un:] lol.
[Kim_jong_un:] lol.
[Caffeine_Witch:] Holy shit, why!!!!!!! I really hoped I could just sip my morning coffee peacefully today. Who is he targeting this time btw??
[Emily:] Is it just me, or despite this being a worldwide stream, all the comments are showing up in English?
[Adorable_Filter:] @Emily The streaming tool he’s using probably has a built-in auto-translate feature that localizes text based on your device’s IP. It’s not that hard to build these days. I’m a university student, and I could probably code a basic version of this.
[Xiao_Bai:] I know this guy too. I just hope his terrorism stays wherever the fuck he is. Don’t bring that monster outside.
[Karan_Aujla:] Idk what he’s up to, but a worldwide broadcast can’t be good... I pray that his victims push through and survive whatever he’s planning.
[Misa:] I LOVE YOU VERITAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[WashingtonCitizen:] No. No no no. Not this guy again.
[R_Gandhi:] Mom just screamed from the living room. Every TV in the house is showing him.
[Sarah_Johnson:] Someone please tell me the Avengers are already dealing with this. Spider-Woman got zipped to another city last time 😭😭😭😭
[Kareena:] My newborn son started crying when the mask appeared. I honestly don’t blame him.
[Miguel:] Miguel Miguel Migel Miguel Mi....guel Migguel Migueeel
[Kenji Tanaka: Every billboard just changed to his face. People are seriously crowding the Shibuya Square.
[Daniel Brooks:] Who is he here today for, though?
[Priya Nair:] That’s what I’m scared of. Why did he feel the need to hijack the entire planet?
[James Whitaker:] Someone’s gonna die today...
Everyone whose screen had just been hijacked felt a creeping sense of dread, wondering who the Jester’s unfortunate victim would be today.
Little did they know, today, they were the victims... all of them.
"I hope you all have been doing well," Veritas said politely, facing the hovering camera.
Behind him, massive cylindrical data pillars pulsed with soft blue light. Through the reinforced glass, a sliver of open sky and clouds drifted past. It was unmistakably a flying vessel of some kind.
It didn’t take long for people to figure it out.
He was aboard some kind of aircraft.
And judging by the sheer size of the space behind him...
A very, very large one.
He leaned forward slightly, resting his hands on his knees.
"These past few months, I’ve met so many amazing people. It’s honestly astonishing. Cassie. Jessica. Jim. Larry. Miller and his wife. Mathew. Batroc. Luna.... Every single one of them was nice. We didn’t all become friends - vibes didn’t match, or time was short - but they were nice and respectful people."
The Jester paused, his tone dropping an octave.
"But then again... I’ve also met some really disgusting monsters. Sinners of the highest degree."
"I remember that day, you guys called me a devil, so I found Father Patrick Sein to absolve my sins! Alas..."
Veritas paused, his voice dropping into a mock-sorrowful whisper. "...there was no one on this earth worthy enough to absolve a Father’s sins. So I sent him directly to God. You know. So he could ask for forgiveness there himself. I’m helpful like that."
The Jester slowly raised his hands, clutching the sides of his white mask, his fingers digging into the porcelain-like material as if he were trying to tear it off.
"But that day... I realized something..." Veritas whispered, his voice trembling with a terrifying madness.
A soft and low melody started to play as he spoke. A deep rumbling choral melody that instilled subconscious fear in their hearts...
[Auto BGM: Pain’s Theme (Girei) ]
"This world is rotten. It is rotten to the absolute core."
"When I think about the fact that the world I’m living in is crawling with such filth. Just thinking about how the person standing next to you could be a filthy sinner, pretending to be innocent... lying every single day just to mimic being human... The thought makes me violently nauseous."
Veritas lowered his hands, placing them on his knees as he slowly stood up from the bridge. He gestured to the massive, high-tech bridge around him.
"That nausea, that unending irritation and suffocation, brought me here today," Veritas declared. "To an Insight Helicarrier."
"A weaponized craft created by S.H.I.E.L.D. to deter threats and pacify armies all over the world, with the simple push of a button,"
Veritas explained calmly to the billions of people watching. "Just one of these vessels is capable of eradicating millions of human lives in a single minute. And the best part? S.H.I.E.L.D. built three of them."
Veritas slowly raised his index finger. "Right now, I have absolute control over one."
He raised his middle finger, holding up a peace sign. "But for my grand goal... I just need two."
He lowered his hand and tilted his masked head, staring directly into the souls of the entire human race.
"In just a few more minutes, I will have them both. And when I do..." Veritas whispered, his voice echoing through every living room, office, and street corner on Earth.
"It will be the day of the purge. The day mankind is finally cleansed of the rot that infects it."
His words were so calm. So cold and utterly detached. It was that complete lack of emotion, that chilling absence of conscience, that sent a shockwave of pure terror rippling across the globe.
Sure, not everyone in the world knew who Veritas was, but millions upon millions did. The internet had spread the legend of the teleporting, explosion-wielding Jester like wildfire.
The liars. The cheaters. The murderers who had walked scot-free. The corrupt politicians, the abusers, and every single sinner hiding a dark secret felt those cold, heartless words pierce directly into their chests.
But they weren’t the only ones afraid.
No one knew exactly what Veritas considered a "sinner."
So even ordinary people with the smallest guilt buried in their hearts stared at the screen in fear, suddenly wondering if they had done enough to earn his attention.
Unknowingly, they all had become his hostages.
