Chapter 2989: 2989. Harder Tasks
"What else did you learn?" After some excitement and returning with a few herbs she knew that the dragons used to help balance their bodies or ate when they were young, Remey sat with Walker for a moment.
Ignus was still busy so she thought it was an ideal time to pick his brain for more about the development of dungeons. She knew that she would have to have alchemists prepared to help heal wounds with potions or have specific nutrient potions for training the resistances necessary to venture in to certain elemental planes.
This was all already being done, but shifting these production processes for better potions for specific dungeons used in training would be even better.
"I was stuck for a while but Gil sort of helped give me another perspective to look at things from. The journal was pretty rough and there are entire sections I still can’t make sense out of still."
These sections that he struggled with had been about specific situations mostly. Less general information but information that appeared to have come from experimentation and development in ways that he just couldn’t possibly recreate. Let alone the thing she did not understand about life mana or time mana.
"There was a dungeon mentioned that seemed to be an experiment made using time mana. It didn’t make time move faster but it made the manas shift through warmer and colder months faster. That was all I could find that was left about it, but I can see value in that."
"For farming, right? You already told us that moving through time isn’t a thing because of time mana being solid or something, but if it affects how manas move then you could make summer heat and winter cold. All you need are good farmers with enough fertilizer, water, and skills to grow the plants faster."
Since they had all learned about farming skills from Gil’s mother, they knew that using the strongest skills to advance the growth of certain crops took a toll on the soil and the environment as a whole. But with enough water and nutrients, then the plants could grow without causing damage.
Therefore, Remey saw that the information Walker uncovered meant that using a dungeon for just farming was possible eventually. It just had to be made in a specific way.
"That wouldn’t use a fire elemental alone or something though. You don’t know how to make a base for all of that and turn it in to a dungeon core?" She saw him nod which was the answer she expected.
It wasn’t hard to believe that there was too much missing to truly help them right this second. It was just enough information to produce an introduction to dungeons at a level that was beyond what they knew and what should be possible.
"We are starting to get deeper in to the foundations of the world and the elemental planes. I don’t know if it’s good or bad. But we can help more now than we used to. It might just be that we are catching up with how the world and elemental planes should have developed before issues arose."
This was the theory Walker believed truly in his heart. That they had restarted the natural progression and all the discoveries and sudden leaps in understanding within Genesis were just the fact that they were catching up.
"We are more focused on dungeons using elemental planes. The others that are possible use shards of space or places that were destroyed. I worry that we will see dangerous ones eventually and I will have to destroy them or remove them from the world. Or the elemental planes. I am pretty sure dungeons can form or grow in the elemental planes too."
"You just thought of that? I assumed that was a fact the whole time. The dungeons like to be around naturally formed runes and a lot of mana to feed themselves. You even mentioned that they can be made from naturally formed runes when you were babbling after Ignus and I headed out. You forget that my hearing is better too from getting stronger." The small smirk that Remey had made it seem that she had caught on even more than what Walker was catching on to.
He let himself get too focused on certain aspects of dungeons that he was somewhat blinded to little bits and pieces of other aspects. Then again, wasn’t that the case for everyone when they were so passionate about learning new things?
"Dragon fruits, baby dragon scales, elder dragon scales, fallen teeth, nest materials, fire mana crystals that steep in dragon’s mana-"
"Ignus! We know, just lay them all down." Remey and Walker saw the massive pile of items that Ignus returned with. He was even in his full fire dominator dragon form to carry them. But they were exactly the things they could leave around the dungeon while it developed. Perfect for guiding it to be a fire dragon paradise as they had expected before.
"We were talking about the dungeon and how it will develop. But Walker also has more to tell us about how he can change it?" Remey got to the meat of their conversation.
Walker had mentioned he could influence it but they knew it had to be more than just bringing in certain materials. Especially since there were ways to ensure that it would be focused on specific aspects or developing monsters potentially.
"There are skills mentioned within the journal like manipulate dungeon monster. Alter dungeon temperature. Focus dungeon nutrients. I think they are a set of skills both related to time and space that focus entirely on the dungeon. But it also mentioned a skill and title called dungeon master."
"Is that the same as a leader of a race or a progenitor?" Since Ignus knew that a leader or someone like Onyx was a foundation for his race of serpents, he wanted to know if the dungeon master was similar but technically lesser.
"Not really. From the rest of the pages I gathered that a dungeon master only comes in to being when a being living in the dungeon’s presence is selected by the dungeon sculptor. It’s like giving the dungeon a guardian or a repair worker. They will control it to a degree but they will also be bonded to it at the deepest level of what they are."
"A few places mentioned that they were also called dungeon spirits or the true spirit of a dungeon, so I would guess they give up a physical being and become part of the dungeon as a whole."
Now Ignus saw the potential. If there was a fire dragon that could leave aside their place within their people and take this on to themselves, it could be a much more important way to protect and lead their part of the dragon race.
"Do they die?" The question that Remey asked was directly related to the simple fact that if they lived for longer than an average lifespan, they may suffer if there is anything dramatic or dangerous happening in the world or the area around that dungeon.
"I actually know the answer to that one. From what I saw it is a role that has passed over after fifty years. It’s a set format for every dungeon. Maybe related to the stress on the soul of a being before they have to go whatever they may after their lives have been lived. Meaning there is a loss and change every fifty years."
Walker knew this was a lot to take in but it seemed to make Ignus even happier. "Then we can raise those who would best represent the growing places for fire dragons and have them take their role prepared. They can learn and strive to better everyone and everything. We will do this!" He had already shifted back to his dragonkin form but he was dedicated to this.
In turn, Walker was looking at the area where the dungeon was.
He was the one who pushed this dungeon core in to being what it was. So, now he had to figure out how to establish a dungeon master at some point. Then from there, look at finding those capable of crafting dungeons and pushing to develop those skills.
It would seriously change someone’s life since they would have to stop looking at the direct world around them. They would need to look at bigger pictures and focus entirely on unique manas like space and time while taking in to account the balance of other manas.
Let alone understand life and death to a degree.
He was truly at a loss for who and how there might be people that could do something like this. It wasn’t a small challenge to take on and he might not be able to find someone in the world or the elemental planes to fit that role.
