Chapter 2990: 2990. Crafters
"You aren’t going looking for someone who will learn to be a dungeon sculptor?" Remey was sure that Walker was about to do what he usually did and rush off to find someone to teach or walk a different path.
Yet, after sitting there for a moment, staring off at the dungeon for a while longer and watching as some of the herbs and materials were magically pulled into the area of flames where the dungeon was, he had just continued to rest. It was very unlike him.
"I have no idea if anyone could. Or where to start. We don’t have many people with a grasp over the right aspects of space and time mana or life and death mana. Let alone how they work together with the other manas to balance and create what we see. I can’t even teach that really either since most of what I do goes off of feeling and senses. I don’t think it can be taught normally either."
"Is that why you aren’t getting some mentors from the origin race and just running in to them here and there? They basically just push you here or there like a baby bird trying to jump out of a nest.’ Remeyu laughed but it was very fitting.
The other origin race members that Walker and the others had encountered had spoken to him but they had not given him straight answers.
It wasn’t that they had not wanted him around, but more like they were waiting for him to develop on his own.
It felt like they had been unable to lower their understandings potentially? Or maybe that they were just too powerful to be able to show a safe amount of their grander knowledge on the bigger pictures.
Even Walker had started to scratch in to more and more but been unable to properly explain it all when he considered the pictures beyond the elemental planes and in to the chaotic space outside of them.
The unknown was their best way of studying it, but even that was just because they could not organize those thoughts and bits of knowledge.
"You might be perfectly right. They have helped and shown us some things. Even given me a journal that would have just degraded in to nothing if left alone. They didn’t ignore me or us, they just gave little pushes to let us figure things out ourselves." Now it seemed to make a bit more sense taking this perspective.
"Then you should find a way to do that for others. Set some people who want to be more and understand more in positions where they have the chance to do that." This suggestion from Remey was something she had done.
Walker knew well that she had seen the different forms of alchemy. Lately she even helped someone who rejected using fire entirely within alchemy push to create a path of water only alchemy. But that led them to learning that they possessed an affinity for wind as well pushing them to create bubbles to form and separate alchemical ingredients before mixing them.
An odd form of alchemy that took longer than average but produced potions that actually assisted in adding nutrients to stagnant water that assisted in removing harmful or unbalanced aspects of the water. In fact, it had ensured the survival of a small crop of seaweeds that were grown for some underwater monsters being kept and raised for food.
"Ok, then I will go and grab some architects and crafters. I can use space mana to make an area a little odd and see if any of them want to try and explore those feelings. I have already helped some people develop different crafting methods, maybe this is a chance?"
Remey hesitated wondering if she had just given Walker a bad idea, but Ignus grabbed one of her shoulders letting Walker head out.
"Why?" She had no idea why Ignus felt the need to stop her, but when she saw his face it was enough to tell he was doing so as a leader of Genesis.
"He is always a force of change and growth. Whether he succeeds in making a dungeon sculpture class appear or not is not the point. Walker will inspire new forms of crafters who may begin crafting with mana itself or be able to alter the internal structures of materials beyond what we understand right now. We should let him try because he will protect the safety of those he invites to try as well."
As Ignus left this as it was, he and Remey returned to monitoring the changes in the dungeon enjoying the rest and the proceeds. The caretakers had become more numerous and they would leave them to their work but Ignus already knew he had chosen the right people for that job.
Walker on the other hand, was already teleported and ignoring the short distance teleportation skill he had made more efficient unintentionally.
He had done so seeing that the space mana barely moved when the dungeon took in items from what had been brought. He felt the tiny changes were more controlled and tried to do so with the manas around himself when he used space mana to move. Without surprise, it worked the first time and he felt that he barely caused a ripple in the space mana itself too.
Entering the crafting guild and finding a young woman working at the front desk wasn’t a surprise. They had many more employees here now and the desk he went to was one that many of the letters were delivered to. Which and it is easier for Walker to ask for some help at.
"Sir hero, I was instructed to let the masters of the guild know if you arrived. Will you need a space to craft something?"
"No not today, I was actually hoping that you had a small group of young crafters who do not have unique classes that may wish to branch out and attempt to learn of new paths to take? I wish to bring them to a controlled environment where they might be able to understand some unique manas and affinities."
As she pointed toward an introductory class room for those wishing to become crafters, it was odd that she would just accept this and help. Yet, Walker had lived and breathed protection and guidance. He could do these things because of his standing.
Not just the support of other leaders, but because he always ensured that what he did was for the best of those around him and all of Genesis. He did not wantonly throw people in to dangerous situations and bring them back horribly injured or lost. He protected them and gave them chances to push beyond the expected norm.
Entering the room, over thirty heads turned from a speech about the basics of the guild all somewhat recognizing one of the heroes of Genesis. The instructor was an older man who had clearly retired after working many years.
"I apologise for the sudden interruption. I had an idea that I may be able to guide someone on the path of becoming a unique crafter of sorts. I don’t want to push anyone who does not desire that. I know everyone has their own goals and being exposed to manas unfamiliar to you and concepts that may not be what you truly wish to pursue could be odd and uncomfortable."
Walker spoke and he saw a few of the younger apprentices trying to stand up and make a move immediately. There was a unique form of curiosity in most crafters that said that they would try to find new materials or methods no matter what. Those were the ones making waves in Genesis now and who would find ways to do so even without him.
"The manas you will feel may be against your affinity or help awaken different affinities. Please, if you would like to come with me for a while I can help you do so. If not, you are not penalized. I do not want to change what you wish to do or interrupt your current paths."
He saw a few people standing up regardless and the instructor waving for them to hurry up. He wasn’t rude, but wanted to keep the flow of their conversation going to introduce everyone to the guild.
"You will still need to remember and return to finish the introduction to the guild once you have finished with sir Walker. He is going to test you but that does not mean you will be ready to be a fully fledged member of the guild." This made a few frown but rules were rules and they needed to go to the proper classes to understand their rights and the safety rules of being part of the crafting guild. It was just common sense.
