Chapter 2991: 2991. Beyond
Seventeen younger apprentices stood up. Three of them had no class at all while most of them had the apprentice blacksmith or junior craftsmen classes of some form. Enough to show that they had already had some goals for what they wished to be, but were willing to branch out.
Those who did not step toward Walker and venture with him were already more defined. One had a copper blacksmith class another had a jewelers carving class. Both important and unique to specific forms of crafting that they did not wish to give up. The others that stayed were a bit less specific but had their paths in mind.
"I know this may be difficult since there are seventeen of you and you all wish for the best chances to take new paths or to be able to claim your chance at your own goals. Do not fight amongst yourselves and do not hesitate to tell me if you need a moment."
This was a warning since Walker understood he would be exposing them to manas that they were not used to. He was also challenging the ideas of what was known and not known by them and the general public.
It was also nice since he could see the various races here with him and knew that having some of them would allow for different opportunities related to their bloodlines, traits, or general lineage as a whole.
This was something that some people within Genesis seemed to forget.
The traits that some demi-humans manifested were often related to their classes and their bloodlines as a whole. Because of this, they might have the chance to be able to unlock classes that were directly tied to them rather than just a class because of their efforts or focus.
Some would see that as something to be jealous of while others would see it as a downside. Regardless of either, it was just another opportunity in the mind of Walker since that was another person who added their potential to the entirety of the world’s potential.
"I know that you all know the basic manas. Fire, wind, water, earth, light, and dark. They are the manas that we see as the foundations of the world, but they are more like the building blocks on the foundation of the world." he heard some murmurs and also some outright questions about where he was leading them.
However, they also suddenly sensed a change in the air around them as they were pulled through space.
The movement was part of Walker teleporting them a short distance to one of the open training areas. One that was specifically made for magic training and that he knew was available for the next several hours.
The magic tower wasn’t having any of their younger mages train here because of their current schedule. Plus, the magic tower was currently going through a lot more organization as those who had been studying there with the goal to become an arch mage master of the tower found chances to join the academy under construction and teach there.
That was an entirely different topic that Walker was still listening and watching for development from. The magic tower still didn’t have a solid master and the boy studying to potentially become it was still learning about each mana. Still not even near the chance to study life, death, space, and time manas.
But he was still growing.
"That was space mana. It is hard to grasp because it is a proper foundational mana that is hard to manipulate without causing every other mana to be affected. It is a solid foundation of everything you see and everything that is. It folds on itself, it ripples, it portals, it cuts, it crushes, and it just is."
Walker saw those who were not trying to control the sudden upheaval in their stomachs from teleportation look in confusion and denial. "You have also seen life mana, that is within you and also is being used more often for healing now." He spurred his own life mana and caused a warmth to drift over everyone.
Not a light healing skill or a fire related skill. Just a stir in life mana that brought a calming feeling before he grabbed on to a deeper darker thread of death mana.
"I tend not to bother with death mana, but it is just the same as life mana. Always here and always around. It can be related to the mix of manas that make undead mana, but death mana rests within you and other things too. Just like the weeds here and there stomped down by magic skills trained in these areas."
The weeds he motioned to had a visible condensed death mana that terrified many of the crafters he brought with him.
"Now time mana, I can’t make that be seen. Time isn’t to be manipulated. If the time mana allows you can see the potential in someone or something. The chances there might be for growth or destruction. Call it a sixth sense or a seventh sense if you can sense mana already." He laughed but saw a few people somewhat furrow their eyebrows trying to keep up.
He was throwing different terms and manas around while manipulating them and causing their bodies and minds to be shaken. It was not at all a comfortable feeling for them, but one that was causing them to realize that there was more they did not grasp whatsoever.
"Take this pebbles as the world. It is our center because that is what we know. We have forms of mana that are around us in a chaotic mana filled space. Take the sun, the moon, and other things we can see beyond that as that space so to speak." Walker made a ball of fire and white ball of earth float about with specks of dust and smaller pebbles moving around.
"Beyond this we have the elemental planes. Balanced moving areas that connect through space in bridges to the world. We share manas with it and it is always expanding because of beings greater than you or I know. Some I have met, some I have fought, some I have seen the remains of. Others, I can not understand with all of my might."
Different manas moving in a swirl creating borders appeared.
"This is what we say we know. Everything is not explained and we have research to do. Materials. Forms of crafting. Ideas. Races. Everything within these places is what we are exploring. Not just the world now."
"Then beyond those is the unknown."
He felt it more than anything. The fact that some of them had been caught.
They were stuck thinking about the manas they had just felt. Trying to make sense of what was beyond the world.
No one in the general public truly grasped the enormity of the grand elemental planes. No one even realized that there was a greater distance between them and the world because of the bridges than what they had assumed as a walk. They did not realize that even beyond the elemental planes, there was an unknown more massive than everything they even thought they might know and not know.
"Out there in the unknown are beings that create worlds. Elemental planes. Condense and protect them. Carry elemental planes to be added to the elemental planes we know. Craft dungeons themselves. Lead races. Protect races. Consume pieces of space. And so very much more I don’t know and can only guess at with theories."
He let all the mana he gathered to make a rough map dissipate and watched the eyes of those who had begun to wander and stare off in to space.
A few of the crafters seemed to have found quests or challenges to achieve their goals. Their eyes moved with determination as they understood what they could strive for.
Others were seemingly being challenged internally.
Their knowledge had shifted and they were unsure of what they might or might not know. What they could or could not achieve.
"I am looking for people that will go beyond sooner than later. Who can be more than just a blacksmith or carpenter, or just a crafter. I am looking for someone who can challenge greater things than what they know or might ever know."
As he said this, three sets of eyes focused on him, all of them having their manas shift internally without their ability to control it or even realize that it happened. "And it looks like everyone grasped the enormity of what they believed they needed to chase. So start with you three, what is your path telling you now?"
He saw the three starting to shake with excitement. The other fifteen also realizing that they had done something unusual and brilliant. But also, that they now had to look further than themselves for their goals. Maybe further than the limits they would have in a hundred years for their lifespans.
They were no longer sure.
And that was the point.
