Chapter 3011: 3011. Training
"What is this?" Alma stood up and looked at the odd creation standing and waiting in her office. Gil came in behind her also curious since he had been the one to be told that they should stop by their office before heading toward a small greenhouse to see some results of a new hybrid crop.
"It looks like a golem, but it’s sort of built to look like.... Walker?" He was curious as to why but also wondered even more so why it was here.
"It is an alternate body I am training with. I have full control and feleing-" Walker’s golem body held up a hand as Gil already had his bow out and partially drawn before Walker had finished speaking. His movement speed to draw his body was faster than ever.
Alma was standing still laughing. She had been surprised but not so much that she reacted like Gil.
"I thought I would move one of the golem bodies here. I thought you two could help me see any differences or oddities I am missing. It’s a challenge using wind mana to speak all the time but I have attuned my mana senses better now." Walker carried on slightly slow in speech.
"For one you sound like you don’t know what you are saying so get a skill for using wind mana to speak soon alright?" Gil tried to joke but he was also lowering his bow as Alma examined the golem body.
"This is similar to the true sages making bodies like you and Gil have told me. But you had a golem made so is it more like the dwarves’ and their mechanical golems for transport and patrols?" Since Alma was showing so much interest Gil also paid closer attention.
"It’s a mix of both. I gained close to forty skills, and a bit more after that when I connected fully to this. I can cause resonance with my mana and the mana ingrained in each material. So the golem is perfectly tuned to me. So it’s more of an extension of myself."
Walker raised a golem hand and in it appeared a small experimental arrow Gil had carved before. "I have multiple cores and one is an anchor for the multi dimensional storage. It means I can teleport objects using a lot more mana from spatial storages I have."
He also showed a small spark of a fire ball appearing in his other hand but then showed the rune formations along the putter armor.
"Everything is made to act like another body for me. I can feel the arrow in my hand and the heat of the fire mana. But I can’t feel in the very same ways as my actual body." Gil decided to nudge Walker and saw the golem body react in the same way anyone would from an elbow nudging them.
"Alright then we can test things out, carry me to the greenhouse shaded under fifth street’s trees. It has experimental purple radish plants that should grow in caverns instead of shaded areas." He turned to Alma, "we will also check the poppy seed field since that has been growing for a week now and should be sprouting."
Alma raised an eyebrow and saw Gil even grabbing the right paperwork. She didn’t shrug off his desire to do some actual work despite Walker joining them.
"That saves me an hour to relax?" She tested the waters and saw Gil smirk a little. She’d caught exactly what his intentions were.
He’d made sure she could rest and recover from her busy schedule lately. Not just because he cared for her, but because he was caring for the child she was growing alongside herself.
As the two left the office area and made it outside, Gil grabbed Walker’s golem arm. "Alright show me you can still control mana and fly. Oh, and don’t drop me." His laughed a bit at his test, even more amused to be pushing Walker through this odd form of training.
The crack of Remey’s knuckles were not abnormal in the ears of anyone who spent time around her. It had become a habit before fighting or before she did anything that required her full attention.
Right now, that full attention was leaping with a left jab at Walker’s golem body.
The flames rolling off her body also put him to the test since the pressure was growing as Remey slowly increased the heat. She wasn’t hoping to just let him off of interrupting her and Ignus as they had spoken about personal matters.
"You deserve this, but you have surprised me with your challenge and accomplishment. If you can visit the fire elemental plane I expect an apology gift of fire elemental plants for my territory." This was all Ignus had said while leaving Remey and Walker’s golem behind.
"Just take a single hit!" Remey growled out moving slow enough to test Walker here but still challenging his ability to keep up.
The slightly jerky dodges and stutters in his movements proved that the differences in not having muscles were clear.
The movement of the golem body offered more challenge in limb extension or flexibility. Because of this he moved too far to one side or stretched too much.
The result was him being slower to change his flow of movement. Also changing the ways he had to live when using his skills to move or hold himself in the air with wind mana. It even slowed his usage of the shield he’d pulled from storage to test his resistance to force and if he could handle the proper stance for blunt attacks.
"I wanted your help! I didn’t want to stop you two from your date!" Walker shouted feeling every jab striking the shield then inevitably his side, which sent a shockwave of mana and uncomfortable pain through his mind.
"You can’t call it a date! We were working on something private!" As much as Remey clearly held back, Walker was still glad she was acting this way.
The tests of dexterity and general skills through the golem body were educating him well. Also pushing his mind to adapt and be flexible when it came to everything he was doing at once.
The multiple golems being tested were making him adapt his focus constantly. He could feel new thoughts carve their way in to his mental muscle memory.
He also sensed that Remey was not just testing the golem but also getting excited.
This was the same as when she trained with Walker, but now she had to restrain herself. Limit her strength and challenge the methods she used to fight him. Not because the golem was weak, but because she could use this style of combat later when she trained others or needed to test others.
She’d met quite a few combat alchemists lately. All looking to meet her and understand what she did to survive in a fight. How they could grow their combat abilities while still balancing their desires to search the unknowns of the alchemy world.
"You are not in a good stance to defend now!" Remey swept his legs and watched the golem body hit the ground with a thud.
The following laughter from her was due to his struggle to stand up and usage of earth mana to help.
"I didn’t account for the weight of this golem body to be heavier. It’s harder to stand up than I can in my own body." Walker also noticed that the dent in the soil was much deeper and presented the fact that swimming would need a lot more water mana control.
"You should have one of your golems tend to the underwater fields. Plenty of small insect monsters are bothering the reaching grass and bull kelp being grown in them." Remey suggested this not because she wanted him to work, but because it was an issue she thought could be fixed with Walker’s intervention and a good training opportunity.
"I think that’s a brilliant idea. Before that, I want to try making a low tier alchemy potion. Healing or mana, whatever it is needs to be simple. I need you to judge my skills in manipulating mana finely with a golem body."
She seemed even more intrigued by this. Her focus on alchemy was strict and she would not easily allow for anyone, especially Walker, to be able to escape without perfection.
"I expect you to be able to succeed perfectly before you leave my lab then." Remey grinned like a devil. She was sure to make him train constantly in any potion he tried to make.
She also clearly didn’t have any intention of letting him go anywhere. "Portable alchemy lab, drop it here and let’s get to work." She ordered him like any new apprentice. Whether Walker could make better potions or not didn’t matter now.
He was being put to a real test.
