Mate Collecting System: The Beast Kings Are Obsessed With Me
Chapter 93: ...Shut Up AlreadyThroughout the day, Nuan was patiently administered six more doses of the dense Red Root syrup.
In between the feedings, Zuri and Amara strolled lazily through the jungle, exploring the lush paths and stripped low-hanging branches to satisfy their massive appetites, while the rest of the pack quietly gathered to eat their fresh meat.
Kael also carefully fed Nuan tiny, roasted pieces of rich liver, refusing to let her strength waver for a single moment.
When night fell and the pack settled down, Selka transformed into her massive silver-grey wolf form, curling her warm body protectively around Nuan inside the shaded tripod structure.
Kael pulled the heavy elephant blanket from the sticks and draped it securely over both of them to block out the midnight chill.
At a safe distance, Koda lit a controlled fire pit. He stayed awake through the entire night, a silent and alert sentinel, meticulously ensuring the Red Evil neither spread into the dry brush nor died down before the morning sun could take over.
Meanwhile, Zuri and Amara slipped back out into the cool, dark jungle for a quiet night stroll.
By now, the entire forest was hyper-aware that the mighty Elephant Clan had sent emissaries to the Silver-Grey territory.
The news had spread faster than a wildfire. At the bustling plains crossroads market that afternoon, the traders, nomads, and local beastmen had only one topic on their lips.
A deep, lingering fear of the Silver-Grey clan’s sudden, massive backing began to take root.
But even more shocking was the second rumor ripping through the stalls. That the mysterious, furless female whom Alpha Kael had brought into the market weeks ago wasn’t just a bizarre creature—she was the real Grand Witch Astera, returned to the beastworld after many generations.
Deep in the starry woods, Zuri broke the midnight silence as she walked alongside her sister. "Sister... this wolf pack is truly unique. They are actively controlling the Red Evil—the very entity that attacks our golden plains every summer. And that tent-like shelter over the Witch... it is fascinating. Built beautifully on only three sticks."
Amara gave a slow nod, chewing lazily on a bundle of sweet leaves. "Yes. This entire pack has clearly inherited powerful knowledge from the Witch Astera."
"Do you really think it means the ancient prophecy is finally coming true?" Zuri asked, her large ears flopping back.
"I don’t know," Amara replied, her amber eyes reflecting the starlight. "But if the Good Witch has truly returned among beasts, it means the Evil Witch, Nyxara, will soon rise to bring absolute chaos to our lands."
Zuri let out a heavy, rumbling sigh. "Well, just as the prophecy says... all of us who were once saved and helped by the Witch during the crisis will have to stand as her absolute strength to help her overcome Nyxara’s growing chaos and defeat her once and for all."
"Yes," Amara agreed strictly. "Let us do everything we possibly can to ensure the Witch’s full recovery, and then we must head straight back to the grasslands. We have a duty to inform our Matriarch and the entire clan that the prophecy is unfolding."
(Two Days Later)
The high noon sun beat down on the tripod tent. Most of the hunter pack had already slipped into the shadows of the brush for their daily run, leaving the camp quiet and tense.
Inside the shaded canopy, Kael sat motionless, tightly holding Nuan’s limp hand. With every passing hour, the brittle hope he had been clinging to felt like it was fracturing into pieces.
Just outside the fabric flap, Selka looked up at the two towering giants, her voice dropping into a very low, strained whisper. "Why has she not awakened yet? The shredded muscles she lost in the cougar attack have completely regenerated. Her skin has knitted back over her arm perfectly, her ankle is flawless, and even her color looks normal... so why hasn’t she opened her eyes? It’s already been a full day longer than you estimated."
Zuri and Amara shared a heavy, worried glance, letting out a synchronized, deep sigh that vibrated the grass.
"See, Selka..." Zuri began softly, her trunk swaying. "We told you that to fully regenerate the massive amount of blood she lost, her body would need two full days. Her body has successfully gained all the needed blood, and her flesh is entirely healed."
"Then why?!" Selka pressed, her silver eyes flashing with rising panic.
Amara looked down at the silent, shaded tent, then fixed a grim look on Selka. "You must understand, Selka... her physical shell has gained everything it possibly needs. We cannot force her body to consume any more Red Root syrup without poisoning her. It is no longer a matter of herb syrup. It is her own willpower that she needs right now to wake up."
"Her willpower?!" Selka scoffed softly, a proud but desperate edge in her voice. "There is absolutely nothing stronger than that girl’s will."
"Then let us just pray she finds her way back soon," Zuri communicated gently.
Suddenly, the blanket flap was violently pushed aside. Kael stepped out of the tent, holding the empty wooden bowl out with a tight, trembling grip. "Red Root!" he demanded, his eyes dark and bloodshot.
"There is no more need for her to consume the root, Kael," Zuri said, attempting to calm him.
"Red Root!!!" Kael demanded louder, his jaw clenching as he stepped closer. "She hasn’t opened her eyes yet! Give me more!"
"Yes, but the Red Root only gives the body immediate, vital help to replace lost muscle and blood," Amara explained heavily, her massive form shifting. "It does not do anything more than that, young Alpha. Feeding her more will not force her mind awake."
"I don’t care about how it works! Give me the root!" Kael argued aggressively, his voice cracking with raw, unhinged desperation. "Her body got better because of it! If I feed her more, she will wake up!"
"That is simply not how the effect of the root works," Zuri said softly, seeing the profound vulnerability and terror breaking the young leader apart.
Selka felt a hot sting of tears behind her own eyes. Stepping forward, she firmly grabbed his uninjured arm, trying to pull him back. "Kael... stop."
"I don’t care!!! Give me more Red Root!!!" Kael yelled, his voice echoing sharply off the surrounding rocks as he tried to shake his mother off.
"CALM DOWN, LITTLE ONE!!!" Amara suddenly bellowed back.
Her aggressively authoritative, colossal voice boomed like a physical thunderclap through the dense jungle. The sheer sonic force shook the leaves, and hundreds of birds resting on the high canopy flew away abruptly in panicked, scattered chirps.
"Red Root!!!" Kael barked right back, completely refusing to back down from the eight-foot giant, his fangs fully bared as his tail stood rigid.
The remaining pack members in the clearing trembled, tucking their tails at the terrifying standoff between the desperate Alpha and the colossal plains titan.
Selka violently squeezed his wrist, her voice turning fiercely firm. "Kael, stop this idiotic, reckless act right now!!!"
"NO!!!" Kael growled back, his voice incredibly high and strained with heartbreak.
Amara’s amber eyes flared, completely losing her cool as her massive trunk raised, fully prepared to physically snap and pin the arrogant young wolf to the dirt.
But before the clearing could devolve into a total bloodbath, a very small, hoarse, and deeply frustrated groaning voice suddenly broke through the suffocating wall of noise from inside the tent.
"Ugh... shut up already."
