The house felt different in the morning.

Jack was still there Liam could hear him moving around the kitchen but the competitive edge that had sat in the air for days was gone.

Whatever conversation they had in the dark living room had stuck. Jack was no longer hunting. He was simply present.

That was enough.

Liam finished dressing and went downstairs. Jack was at the counter eating, quiet and unfocused. They exchanged a short nod.

Liam poured coffee, drank half of it standing up, and left the kitchen without looking back.

Renee was on the east grounds.

He found her near the equipment shed, She had her jacket off again.

The black fitted shirt clung to the heavy curve of her breasts every time she moved. When she heard him approach she straightened and turned.

"You’re early," she said."I was looking for you."

Renee’s brow lifted. She set the clipboard on the crate and waited. Liam walked until the space between them was smaller than professional.

His eyes dropped to her chest, stayed there long enough to be deliberate, then rose to her face. She saw it. Heat touched her cheeks, but she didn’t step back.

"You’re staring again," she said.

"Yes." The honesty sat between them. Renee glanced toward the house, then back at him. The courtyard was empty.

Liam took another step. Close enough that when the breeze moved, the fabric of her shirt brushed his arm.

"You’ve been thinking about yesterday," he said.Renee’s throat worked. "I’ve been working."

"That’s not what I asked."

She held his gaze. The professional distance she wore like armor had thinned again. She looked at his mouth, then his eyes, and the calculation behind her expression shifted into something warmer and less careful.

Liam lifted a hand and rested it against the side of the shed behind her shoulder, not touching her, but closing the last of the open space.

Renee’s breathing changed. Small. Controlled. Not hidden. His other hand rose and brushed a thumb along the edge of her jaw. She didn’t pull away.

" You can’t." Liam kissed her.

It started controlled firm, deliberate but Renee made a low sound against his mouth and fisted her hands in the front of his shirt, pulling him in. Her body leaned flush against his before she could stop it.

The heavy softness of her breasts pressed hard into his chest. When his hand slid down the side of her waist and gripped her hip, her mouth opened under his and the kiss deepened.

Liam pressed her back against the shed. One thigh slid between hers. Renee’s breath hitched. He felt the heat of her through the layers of clothing as her hips made a small, involuntary movement against his leg.

His hand left her hip, dragged up her side, and cupped the full weight of one breast through the tight shirt. She was soft, heavy, and already tight-nippled under the fabric.

Renee broke from the kiss just long enough to make a quiet, broken sound, then dragged his mouth back to hers.

His thumb dragged across her nipple. Her whole body reacted a sharp inhale, thighs pressing together around his leg, fingers digging harder into his shirt.

When he pinched lightly through the cloth she shuddered and pulled her mouth away, forehead dropping against his shoulder.

"Fuck," she whispered, voice rough.

Liam kept his hand on her breast, kneading slowly, feeling how hot she had become under his palm. His other hand gripped her ass and pulled her tighter against his thigh.

Renee’s hips moved again, smaller this time, like she couldn’t fully stop them. The heat between her legs was noticeable even through the pants. She was wet. He could feel the tension in her body trying to contain it.

"You’re shaking," he said against her temple.

He rolled her nipple again between his fingers. Renee’s breath broke into a short, unsteady moan that she tried to swallow. Her hand came up and wrapped around the back of his neck, not pulling him away holding on.

When he kissed the side of her throat she tilted her head without thinking, giving him more skin. His thigh pressed higher between her legs. The contact made her hips jerk once, hard.

"Liam"

His name came out low and strained. She was past the point of pretending this was still professional. The flush had spread down her neck.

Her breasts rose and fell fast under his hand. The way her thighs kept tightening around his leg told him exactly how wet she had gotten in the last minute.

He kissed her again, deeper, and felt her melt into it for three full seconds before something in her snapped back into place.

Renee tore her mouth away, breathing hard, and pushed at his chest not violently, but firm enough that he stopped.

Her eyes were dark. Her lips were swollen. She looked wrecked and angry about it at the same time.

"Not here," she said, voice rough. "we shouldn’t be doing this.

Liam’s hand was still on her breast. He gave it one last slow squeeze, felt her shudder, then let go.

Renee stayed against the wall for a second longer like she didn’t fully trust her legs, then stepped sideways and put space between them.

Her thighs pressed together once, hard, before she forced herself to stand normal.

She smoothed her shirt with hands that weren’t completely steady. The fabric still showed the tight points of her nipples. She noticed and crossed her arms, which only made the heavy shape of her breasts more obvious.

"I have to finish the checks," she said.

"I know." Renee looked at him. The heat hadn’t left her face. Neither had the awareness of how close she had come to letting him do more.

She opened her mouth like she might say something else, then closed it, picked up the clipboard, and walked away along the tree line without looking back.

The heavy sway of her ass under the dark pants was slower than usual. Her steps were careful, like her body was still sensitive with every movement.

Liam watched her until she disappeared around the corner of the east wing. Only then did he adjust himself and head back toward the house.

Inside, Jessica crossed the main hall with a tablet in hand. She gave Liam a short nod as she passed.Liam watched her go, then continued toward the stairs.

Cole was coming down the opposite corridor. Tall, scar through the eyebrow, the same solid presence as always. She met his eyes for a second longer than necessary before looking away.

One of the softer women from the second group was restocking the kitchen shelves; when she saw him she straightened and her hands paused on the cans for half a beat too long.

The field was opening. Renee was the widest crack and after what had just happened against the shed, the crack was wide enough to put a hand through.

Jessica remained the harder target for another day.

Liam went upstairs, closed the study door, and stood at the window looking out over the grounds.

Renee had reappeared on the far loop. Even from this distance he could tell her posture hadn’t fully returned to normal. She moved like a woman who could still feel where his hands had been.

He smiled, slow and private. The house was quiet again.
