Millionaire Girlfriend

Chapter 9 - Good night kiss

Chapter 9: Chapter 9 - Good night kiss

The next morning, while still lying in bed, Ashley heard familiar laughter coming from the living room.

She immediately got up to see what was happening.

And there was Clara.

Sitting in the common room, chatting with Ginah and Ninah.

Ever since Ashley introduced them, the twins had been determined to become friends with the young millionaire.

The relationship between them had developed faster than Ashley expected. Ginah and Ninah had never been intimidated by Clara’s status or wealth. To them, she was simply the strange and overly affectionate girl who kept appearing around Ashley.

Their curiosity had quickly turned into genuine interest, especially because Clara always treated them with the same kindness she showed everyone else.

Ashley still found it strange seeing someone like Clara sitting casually in her apartment as if it were the most normal thing in the world. The contrast between them was almost ridiculous.

One was a young millionaire surrounded by luxury, while the other was someone who counted every expense carefully. Yet somehow, Clara acted as though none of that mattered.

"What are you doing here this early?" Ashley asked.

Her hair was still messy, she was still wearing pajamas, and she didn’t care at all that Clara saw her like this.

"Good morning, sweetheart. I’m here to pick you up for class, of course," Clara replied with a smile.

"You could at least warn me when you’re coming here," Ashley complained.

"I did. I sent you several messages last night," Clara defended herself.

"Go get ready so we can have breakfast," Clara said, gently pushing Ashley toward her room.

"Ah... young love!" the twins said together.

Ashley immediately gave them a murderous look.

" I really missed you" Clara said while Ashley changed with her back turned.

"I don’t see why. We spent the entire afternoon and evening together yesterday," Ashley replied.

"Because I love you."

Ashley immediately threw a towel at her.

Clara turned around...

Only to realize Ashley was still wearing only her underwear.

"Stop saying it if you don’t mean it," Ashley said, sounding slightly frustrated.

She had spent the entire night thinking about those words.

She hadn’t slept well because of them.

Every time she closed her eyes, Clara’s voice came back to her. The sincerity behind those words bothered her more than she wanted to admit.

She was used to people wanting something from her, but Clara never seemed to ask for anything in return. That was the part Ashley couldn’t understand.

It was easier to believe that there was some hidden reason behind Clara’s actions. It was easier to believe that someone like her couldn’t genuinely care about someone like Ashley.

"But don’t you believe me when I tell you I love you?" Clara asked, walking closer.

"Because it’s impossible for you to love me without a valid reason," Ashley replied.

"Do you think we need a reason to love someone?"

"Love is one of the most unreasonable things in the world," Clara explained, looking deeply into Ashley’s eyes.

"You don’t have to believe me yet..."

"But I’ll prove to you how much I love you."

She gently wiped away the tears that Ashley hadn’t even realized were falling.

"Ah... I made you cry again. I’m sorry."

Clara pulled her into a hug.

That evening, Ashley was still at her second job.

But she couldn’t stop thinking.

More specifically...

She didn’t know if what she was about to do was a good idea.

She typed a message on her phone.

"Pick me up at midnight. I’m sleeping at your place."

And exactly at midnight, Clara arrived to pick her up.

"Just so we’re clear, we’re only sleeping. I’ll break your fingers if your hands wander," Ashley warned.

Clara swallowed nervously.

"But I get a goodnight kiss, right?" she asked.

"That was a bad idea," Ashley replied.

"Take me home instead."

"No, I’m kidding. I understand. No wandering hands, no kisses."

Twenty minutes later, they arrived in Clara’s bedroom.

Ashley didn’t come into this room often, and she still wondered why she had agreed to be there.

The room was exactly what she expected from Clara: elegant, spacious, and far more expensive than anything she was used to seeing.

Everything seemed perfectly arranged, from the furniture to the decorations, yet the place still felt strangely warm rather than cold or empty.

Ashley stood there for a moment, looking around quietly.

She had visited this room before, but tonight felt different.

There was no teasing, no game, and no excuse for Clara to get closer to her.

They were simply there together.

"Alright. Let’s sleep," Clara said before climbing into bed.

She was nervous too.

It was actually the first time she had ever slept beside a girl.

Even if they were only sleeping...

She was still incredibly excited.

Her heart was beating too fast.

Her voice was slightly shaky.

Even her hands trembled without her realizing it.

Ashley followed her into bed and immediately lay down on her back.

Clara gently placed an arm around Ashley’s waist.

"Good night," Clara whispered before closing her eyes.

"Good night," Ashley replied.

Strangely...

Nearly two hours passed, and neither of them could fall asleep.

The silence between them was not uncomfortable, but it was unfamiliar.

Ashley was used to sleeping alone, with no one beside her and no one depending on her presence. Having another person this close felt strange, almost like she was entering a completely different world.

For Clara, it was because Ashley’s warmth completely overwhelmed her senses.

She wanted to keep her promise.

But Ashley’s scent made it incredibly difficult.

Eventually, Clara got up again to cool herself down.

Ashley watched her leave for the second time but pretended to be asleep.

She still didn’t understand why she couldn’t fall asleep either.

When Clara returned...

"Why can’t you sleep?" Ashley asked.

"Maybe it’s because of me. I can sleep on the couch if you want."

"What? No way."

"I want to get closer to you, and you want to move away?"

Clara gently brushed Ashley’s brown hair behind her ear and kissed her cheek.

It was the only thing she was allowed to do.

For a moment, neither of them said anything.

The room was quiet, and the only sound was their breathing slowly becoming calmer.

For the first time...

Ashley was the one who pulled Clara into her arms.

Clara happily returned the hug.

After everything that had happened between them, after all the misunderstandings and hesitation, this simple moment felt more meaningful than either of them expected.

"Let’s sleep," Ashley whispered.

Then she gave Clara a long goodnight kiss.
