Mindless Beasts

Chapter 74: Soothe the savage beast

In this position Khaldun Wolfe could easily break Sly Foxx’s neck with very little effort and the simple twist of a hand.

As a S-tier alpha Sentinel he was more than capable and Sly Foxx wondered what triggered this recent episode for when they separated after eating lunch earlier Khaldun had been fine.

Just like a predator circling its prey, if Sly wanted to come out of this alive he needed to find a way to soothe the savage beast.

He could not show fear, it would only excite Khaldun further so instead Sly slowed his breathing, wiggling around in Khaldun’s arms to make himself appear smaller and harmless.

"Khaldun, it’s me," said Sly gently. "What happened to you after we separated?"

At first The Royal Alpha’s face didn’t react or show any form of emotion.

Until the S-tier sentinel’s piercing gaze fastened on Sly’s lips as if fascinated by its useless prey’s ability to speak.

Neither did Khaldun verbally respond, he just tightened his hold and drew Sly in closer as if preempting these words as some kind of trick to escape from his muscular arms.

He continued to observe Sly solemnly, his asymmetrical eyes unmoving while Khaldun pondered whether or not to answer Sly’s question honestly.

It was as if the Royal Alpha was slowly returning to his senses.

This standoff between them finally dissipated.

It had probably lasted for only a few minutes but to Sly it felt like years had been taken, shortening his lifespan.

Khaldun’s voice sounded deep and raspy.

"... Sly?"

"I’m here."

The moment Khaldun heard that response he relaxed his strength and the oppressive hold that had Sly feeling caged immediately loosened.

There were indentations of a handprint around his neck, as if the alpha sentinel had nearly been strangled to death, arousing Sly’s worst suspicions.

Sly stayed still in Khaldun’s for a few more minutes, doing an inspection on the visible parts of Khaldun’s skin, there were scrapes and bruises everywhere.

Sly Foxx wavered between taking Khaldun to the hospital or taking him home.

If they stayed out in the open like this it would only cause more gossip that he didn’t want to reach Dean Drakos ears.

He ended up half pulling, half dragging the alpha sentinel in the direction of his apartment.

Luckily most Prestonites were already in their dorms or doing social activities.

The corridors were empty so no one noticed the little omega leading an alpha twice his size to his apartment.

After swiping his card the security gate opened and then Sly entered the passcode from the front door.

After opening the door Sly wondered what to do next but Khaldun took the decision out of his hands.

He went straight to the kitchenette, opened the fridge and removed a twelve pack of nutrient solution.

Khaldun then went over to the couch making himself at home in the omega’s apartment and started devouring the tubes of nutrient solution.

Sly supposed all the apartments had similar layouts and were probably initially stocked by the academy after that supply ran out the students had to replace the fridge contents out of pocket.

Since Khaldun had found the means to keep himself occupied Sly decided to use the time to shower since he had no intentions of going anywhere but his bed.

While he showered it occurred to Sly that Khaldun might have sought him out for the evening combat sessions he had promised Dean Drakos.

Perhaps after drinking the nutrient solution tubes Khaldun would just call it a night.

He thought wrong.

Feeling refreshed after emptying the twelve pack Khaldun asked, "are you planning on wearing pajamas to the gym, if it makes you comfortable, suit yourself."

"Uhmm no. Just give me a few minutes to change," mumbled Sly.

The look on Khaldun’s face showed that these extra sessions weren’t up for negotiations.

Sly wasn’t going to talk himself out of this one.

Just as Sly was slipping on a plain black tee Khaldun entered the bedroom, Sly didn’t even have time to be self conscious as Khaldun rummaged through his wardrobe.

Eventually, Khaldun found a black hoodie and matching black sweatpants and tossed them both in his direction.

Sly hurriedly got dressed as he realized Khaldun was enjoying watching him put on the clothes, grateful that he wore briefs and hadn’t decided to go commando.

Feeling satisfied, upon seeing the omega, appropriately dressed Khaldun Wolfe led the way with an exhausted and reluctant Sly trailing behind him.

The private gym that Khaldun was taking him to must be quite a distance if the alpha suddenly increased his pace.

Just as Sly was about to complain and ask how much further they reached a block of warehouses where the academy probably used for storage.

It looked desolate, abandoned and a little bit haunted at night.

Beside a nondescript door there was a huge vending machine, the type that you would see at a games arcade.

It boldly read, ’Galactic Pirate Masks’ with a description that read ’you too can be a Galactic Pirate by purchasing your mask.’

Before Sly could ask what a travesty was doing out in the middle of nowhere Khaldun pulled two unique coins out of his point and slipped the first one in the slot.

Sly almost jumped with fright when the machine lit up the darkness like a christmas tree, making loud groaning noises before it spit out a mask then the action was repeated.

Khaldun handed him the uglier of the awful marks and said, "put this on."

When Sly refused Khaldun slammed the hideous mask on his face.

It activated instantly.

The mask felt like a leech contorting and restructuring the surface of the face making Sly’s original shape unidentifiable.

He didn’t have to see a mirror to know that his face now mimicked one of the grotesque anime characters displayed on the vending machine.

With both their faces covered Khaldun led them to the door beside the vending machine.

When Khaldun pushed open the door Sly expected to step into the darkness of a deserted warehouse.

Instead there were steps leading downwards, with lamps on either side to light their way.

Confidently Khaldun strolled down the steps as if he had already done this a million times.

The steps led out to a deadly underground city that lay hidden beneath the pristine polished surface of Paradise Military Academy.
