The captain was in complete agony, so much that his words almost sounded like incoherent gibberish to the ears.
Sly Foxx tapped on the captain’s spiritbracelet it a Toxicity Level of 74% while it synced with his spiritchoker.
They had a Guiding Match Rate of 33%.
Sly questioned the squad, "Scoot over...give me some space..how long has the captain been in need of detoxification?"
"About an hour or less.. I can’t really say for sure," answered the second in command while scratching his head, "after we all got split up it took us a while to come together as a group and then the captain used his defenses to take the brunt of the damage from the agitated wasps."
For a B+ tier sentinel the captain was even more exceptional than most decorated A-tier sentinels showing resilience and selflessness in the line of duty.
Sly Fox hovered his hands over the captain’s face, the alpha’s eyes were wide open but unable to focus anything around him.
Feeling pressured, Sly took the man’s palm and placed it against his own, the captain’s palm felt hot and clammy against his skin.
After taking a deep breath, Sly closed his eyes to block out the noisy background, he could still hear the squad asking Verde what the hell Sly was doing to the captain in the background.
Everyone knows that sentinels can harness massive amounts of spirit energy but this can also be to their detriment.
If they find themselves unable to control these large volumes of spirit energy it can turn chaotic inside their bodies.
For some it becomes like a sickness that weakens the body but most sentinels are prone to rampage.
The captain wasn’t in rampage mode yet but the venom could adversely start affecting his mind and eventually the chaos inside would build to rampage levels.
It was remarkable that the captain wasn’t acting like a lunatic because low-level sentinels in the B-range often had poor self control.
On missions they often overextended themselves, excessively drained their abilities and took on more than their mind and body could tolerate, effectively driving themselves insane.
Sly needed to calm down the captain and detoxify the alpha before he could reach this stage.
In his mind he could visualize Instructor Emma saying, "Students, to enter another’s spirit landscape just use your mental tendrils as you normally do, close your eyes, concentrate and focus your spirit energy until you feel the resistance fade away, then you can enter."
Just like he observed his teacher doing numerous times in class when students hurt themselves and needed help.
"Don’t be wary," Sly said softly to the captain. "I need to enter your spirit landscape to help you, just relax."
Sly released his own mental tendrils and sent them dashing towards the captain’s body.
Slowly Sly entered the B+ tier alpha sentinel’s spirit landscape.
The last thing he wanted to do was take a wrong step and end up in some mental quicksand.
The captain’s spirit landscape was like the Sahara desert, just dry, arid and windy.
Sly walked for what felt like ages and could not find a drop of water anywhere.
Finally, he got lucky and Sly stood at the edge of an oasis, after triple checking he made sure it wasn’t a mirage.
The wind kept buffeting him and it was hard to concentrate and maintain his balance.
The oasis was real and there was a well in the center of it.
Before Sly could lower the attached bucket and drop it into the well so he could drink from the water to quench his thirst, Mimosa stopped him.
"Sly you can’t drink from the water until you purify it or you will both die," Mimosa admonished.
Sly asked, "how do I cleanse it?"
"Just dip your mental tendrils in there and leave the rest to me!"
Mimosa was treating the root of the toxin that invaded the captain’s body, not just the symptoms.
Basically rebuilding the captain’s spirit landscape from scratch and giving him a new lease on life.
After Mimosa was finished with his purification the heavy wind that had been blowing dust around calmed, the heat was no longer unbearable and the well water was clear and drinkable.
Mimosa had basically rebuilt the captain’s oasis making it healthier.
By repairing the parts that had been damaged by the toxins, cleansing the area by removing debris so that new life could grow.
Already sprouts of vegetation had started to push from the spirit soil; the captain’s spirit landscape should continue to flourish on its own.
At first it was painful for the captain to endure but soon he was in ecstasy as he was slowly being detoxified by Sly’s healing powers.
Some of the squad members gasped loudly, within a few minutes there were already changes to the captain’s complexion.
The pockmarked sting marks from the wasps had already started to noticeably fade away.
Even his breathing stabilized and the veins that had been bulging with venom were slowly returning to normal.
"Captain, are you alright?"
"Let the man breathe."
"Can you talk, Captain? Answer us..."
The Captain slowly started to sit up with help from the second in command. "I can barely feel the stings now. This healing ability is unbelievable...it’s something else, it’s really out of this world."
Feeling pleased with himself, Sly blushed at the praise and finally released the captain’s hand.
"Wait Sly Foxx..I’m not fully healed yet...getting healing from you just feels so..so pleasurable.. Just spend a little more time on me please."
"Captain, you are out of the danger zone, just check your spiritbracelet, I brought your Toxicity Level from 74% down to 21%. There are other members on your team with higher Toxicity Levels from the wasp venom on your team that I need to assist with healing too."
Perhaps it was the feeling of being rejected but the B-tier Alpha Captain tried to use his brute strength to overwhelm Sly to do his bidding.
When he aggressively grabbed the ends of Sly’s shirt roughly, trying to trap Sly when he tried to move off.
