"Hope he's okay..."

After returning to the ship, Loren began praying for the God of Light and Fire.

After all, he only wanted the God of Fear to weaken Him, not actually kill Him.

If the God of Light and Fire failed to stop the God of Fear from descending, then it would truly be over.

Even if all the gods joined forces afterward, they probably wouldn't be able to defeat the God of Fear. The more the gods lost, the more terrified people would become, and the stronger the God of Fear would grow—this was a vicious cycle.

In the end, even Loren might find it difficult to stop Him.

The gods simply couldn't wage war against the Outer Gods. All the Orthodox Gods could do was use the world's rules to prevent their descent.

Truth be told, Loren had been genuinely furious at that moment. As they say, when enemies meet, eyes burn red. Loren had wanted to kill Uriel for a long time, and now that he finally had the chance, he had to go all out.

Loren thought about how if Naclis's mother had run just a little slower, or died a bit earlier, then not only Naclis, but Anna would have died too.

Back then, it was a heavy snow day, and Loren couldn't have gone outside anyway. He never imagined he would end up finding a Witch.

So whenever he thought about these things, Loren felt a chill of fear, and his hatred for Uriel deepened.

In the end, he couldn't hold back and summoned the Outer God.

"Forget it. Win or lose, it doesn't matter. Worst case, the main quest changes from fighting Orthodox Gods to fighting Outer Gods..."

"Master Mentor..."

Just as Loren was muttering to himself, Anna suddenly rushed over and hugged him.

Loren had returned completely unharmed, which made the situation crystal clear.

Anna led the charge, and then everyone else crowded in for hugs. This time, Naclis didn't hesitate too long. She seized a spot beside Loren before all the space was taken.

"Oh, right, Naclis. Here, take this."

Loren pulled several photos from his clothes—pictures of him and Orianna beating Uriel to a pulp.

"Even though I can't tell which angel is which, this should be Him."

"Yes, that's Him..."

Naclis's hands trembled as she held the photos. Finally, she dropped them and tightly hugged Loren.

"It wasn't convenient this time, so I couldn't kill Him directly. But next time, He won't be able to escape."

"Of course, there's also a chance the Outer God I summoned might kill Him this time."

"None of that matters. I just need you..."

Naclis gripped Loren's clothes and held him even tighter.

"..."

Loren didn't reply. He simply stroked Naclis's hair.

"Everything here is settled. Should we go home or keep traveling on the sea? There are plenty of unique islands out there."

"Let's head straight home. We need to deal with the Church situation first."

Anna made the suggestion, and it made sense. Loren nodded as well:

"Alright. It's a good chance to check on Noah's progress with the zombies..."

Loren hadn't forgotten about the things the Plague Church had unleashed. If the zombies really started spreading, it would be a major headache.

Mages could crush zombies easily, but ordinary people couldn't. Everything that had happened on the train earlier had already demonstrated that reality.

Still, Loren didn't hold much hope for Noah. He was a genius in physics but didn't understand biology or magic.

To solve the zombie problem, they would need Paqina's Arcane Ability.

"What about Melody?"

"She's in the fish tank in the bedroom. She can't climb out."

"Alright..."

Under Loren's control, the ship resurfaced on the ocean. Loren carried Melody and brought her up to the deck, letting her see sunlight again.

Although this ghost ship could dive, it wasn't comfortable at all. It didn't even let in any light, making it incredibly oppressive to stay in. So Loren planned to switch back to the Raging Tide.

By now, the Witches could see the situation in the Holy Flame Empire. The sky there had already turned dark, a jarring contrast to the sunlight on the sea.

"Hope he's okay."

Anna also pressed her hands together and began praying, imitating Loren's earlier gesture.

Loren was the first to jump onto the Raging Tide with Melody in his arms. He set her down on the deck before going back to bring Scarlett over.

The fish tank was inside Scarlett's space, and Scarlett couldn't cross over without Loren carrying her...

"Perfect timing. Let's have a banquet. We didn't eat well back in the Holy Flame Empire."

"Hooray!"

Anna was the first to cheer. She had been hungry for a while but didn't want to trouble Loren, so she hadn't said anything.

"Scarlett, bring out the grill."

Loren found a spot to sit down and glanced in the direction of the Holy Flame Empire.

Countless fishing lines were attached to him, stretching all the way to that place. As Loren switched the ability recorded on the World Card, those lines vanished.

Given Loren's nature, he wouldn't just leave like that. He had left plenty of contingency measures.

Earlier, Uriel had killed many people to intimidate the masses. Loren had quietly used the Angler to capture their souls.

Now, they would continue living normally like everyone else, but in truth, they were all time bombs that Loren had planted.

Many people had witnessed their deaths. Just seeing them come back to life would greatly increase fear.

Loren would watch the situation and decide when to hit the God of Light and Fire with something big, keeping Him too busy to launch a Divine War or hunt down Mythical Creatures.

Loren remembered one thing very clearly: the Divine War had been started by the God of Light and Fire.

If he had the chance, Loren would make sure the textbooks recorded that the Divine War officially began when the God of Light and Fire launched a blitzkrieg against the God of Freedom.

Mirrorheart had already lit the grill. Loren started grilling meat alongside her. Melody, who had never grilled before, also gave it a try. Unsurprisingly, she burned it, but she still ate happily, tirelessly grilling more.

Even though her meat was either too raw or burnt to a crisp, she was overjoyed, and it all went into her stomach anyway.

Loren wasn't worried about her getting sick from it. After all, half-raw meat was still better than completely raw.

...

Time passed peacefully. Soon, Loren and the others arrived on land, in the territory of the God of Vows and Wind, where they said goodbye to Melody.

"I once declared my loyalty to you. That vow is forever binding. If you ever need anything, I will not hesitate."

Melody handed Loren a conch shell and explained how to use it:

"Just blow into this conch, and I will sense your location. I will come to you as fast as I can."

"When I return, I will do my best to persuade more Merfolk to pledge loyalty to you. I firmly believe in Fate—you are the one who will lead us back to the sunlight."

Melody's tone was solemn. She clutched the pendant on her chest tightly:

"The Merfolk believe in the Perpetual Observer. We never lie, and we will fulfill our promises with our lives."

"The vows we make are even more unbreakable than those sworn to the God of Vows and Wind."
