While Arcane told Xervei and Florentine how much of a boon Valyr was to the existence of the Shadow Plane, the young man in question had made great progress after he was left to his own devices once more.
Whoosh!
Slowly opening his eyes, Valyr glanced at the large structure far before him, sensing that his connection with the second segment had now become fully solidified.
Continuing to look at the structure with an incomprehensible gaze, the young man soon shifted his attention towards the third segment, sending a fair chunk of his attention towards it.
Swoosh!
Within seconds, the third segment of the Void Core responded to his actions, sending over a large amount of information regarding both Shadow Energy and Void Energy.
Of course, having digested everything there was to know about Shadow Energy from the first two parts, the young man showed no fear towards the influx of information whatsoever.
Indeed.
From the moment Arcane left him until now, the young man had thoroughly mastered the contents of the Void Core's second segment in regards to Shadow Energy.
Naturally, wanting to fortify his foundations in preparation for the future, Valyr set aside all of the information regarding Void Energy aside, increasing the amount of knowledge he would need to go through once everything was said and done.
Yet, with his foundation merely fortified with the information from the first segment, the speed at which he assimilated the information from the second segment increased by leaps and bounds.
With that, it only took three months to comprehend everything about Shadow Energy from the second segment, just half of how long it took him to comprehend the first.
'If I continue to speed up the deeper I get into this Void Core, then I guess it'll only take me a couple of years to comprehend everything there is to offer about this,' muttered Valyr to himself as his understanding of Shadow Energy continued to deepen by the second.
However, after getting a rough idea of what the third segment offered, the young man shifted his attention away from the Void Core, breaking the connection he had formed with it.
After that, he closed his eyes for a bit as he consolidated all of the information he had on Shadow Energy.
"I suppose now's a good opportunity." Letting out a soft exhale as he opened his eyes, the young man turned to look at the unique mark hovering just a few meters away from him.
"…I've got to say. Your comprehension speed is unbelievable," said Arcane as she responded to his words through the mark. "If you keep this up, you probably wouldn't even need the whole decade to comprehend the Void Core in its entirety."
"My thoughts exactly," replied Valyr with a chuckle, only to then ask her for information regarding the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture.
In response, Arcane sent over the parts of the scripture she had already broken down, arranging them in a manner that made it easier for the young man to understand.
"I know that your current level of understanding allows you to make improvements to it, but it would be best if you were to only start modifying the scripture once you have a better understanding of Void Energy," she said, causing Valyr to pause for a bit.
"Is it because the latter part of the modification would lack substance if I didn't?" the latter asked in return, giving her words a bit of thought.
"Not necessarily." The mark gave off a feeling that made Valyr imagine that Arcane was shaking her head at him. "It's more so the quality of the resulting Void Energy."
"Of course, if you were to try using the scripture to convert your Void Energy, the result would end up being better than the Void Energy you had originally."
"Then again, compared to something like True Arcana at the 27th level, it'd be far behind in both potency and quality," she said.
"True," said the young man after some time. "But it still wouldn't hurt to try."
With those words ending their conversation, the young man soon delved into refining the scripture he had made in the past, making use of the information Arcane shared with him to turn the scripture into something better.
Of course, with his understanding of Shadow Energy now deeper than before, it did not take long for him to greatly improve the scripture's efficacy in terms of conversion.
In fact, the young man was confident that the scripture could already be practiced by those from the Shadow Plane in its current state.
"Compared to meeting the original requirements needed to transform Shadow Energy into Void Energy, practicing the current scripture is at least a thousand times easier."
Opening his eyes after a week of pure silence, Valyr uttered those words as he let out a soft sigh.
"But even though it's better than before, Arcane's ultimately right," he continued, faintly shaking his head. "In its current state, the resulting Void Energy I would get out of it is just marginally better than the one I have right now."
"As for those who would practice this scripture from scratch, they would only be able to grasp an inferior version of Void Energy."
"Though, I guess that's more of a perk of the scripture rather than a caveat." Valyr shrugged his shoulders at the thought.
"…I take back the words I said in the past." While the young man was still mulling over the changes he made to the scripture, Arcane could not help but look at Valyr through the mark as if he were an unpolished gem.
"Although the scripture only allows one to grasp a lesser form of Void Energy in its current state, the fact that it only took you less than a year to get to this point leaves me at a loss for words."
"For reference, it took Her just shy of ten thousand years to finally figure out how to transform Shadow Energy into Void Energy," said Arcane through the mark.
"After that, She took another million years or so to finally expand that conversion up to Abyssal Energy."
"That long?" Valyr sucked in a breath of cold air at those words.
"Well, as the one who brought Shadow Energy into existence, She had to figure out the path on her own," answered Arcane. "In comparison, you currently have access to the Void Core."
"If She were in the same situation as you, then I suppose it would only take a year for her to create a similar scripture that would allow one to grasp Abyssal Energy."
"Then again, knowing Her, she would instead convert the scripture into something that leads to the path beyond Chaos Energy."
"After all, She wasn't called the Ambitious One for no reason."
"Urk!" Realizing that she had slipped in keeping Her identity a secret, a look of horror appeared on Arcane's face as she looked at Valyr through the mark.
Seeing that the young man had no reaction to the words she had just said whatsoever, the former inwardly let out a sigh of relief as she reminded herself not to make a slip-up like that in the future.
But just as she thought that nothing had happened…
Rumble…
All of a sudden, a terrifying aura began to emanate out of the young man, forcing him to fall unconscious as Arcane watched this all unfold through the mark.
"Resonance of the Creators…" she muttered, her attention wholly on the unconscious young man before her.
"Valyr Zeihardt…"
"Who are you, really?"
