However, Su Zhou wasn’t afraid of them either.
Since Duke Naisel himself was merely Extraordinary High-tier, or perhaps Extraordinary Peak, then any enemy who didn’t dare to act while he was alive and only resorted to petty schemes after his death could be at most the same level. And Su Zhou was also Extraordinary High-tier.
’We’re both at the same tier. Who’s afraid of whom?’ Thinking this, Su Zhou couldn’t help but touch the scabbard at his waist. A searing, immense heat flowed within the blade.
’The Blade of Annihilation... it’s been a long time since I’ve drawn it.’
"What are you waiting for?"
Putting down the corpse, Su Zhou turned and watched the soldier with cold eyes. The man trembled as he took out a circular, disc-shaped communication device and activated its Array with Magic Power. He then immediately began shouting a string of words in a language Su Zhou couldn’t understand. It seemed he was relaying the message Su Zhou had given him, holding nothing back.
But after he finished speaking, the soldier, just like his colleague who had died so suddenly before, simply collapsed, stiff as a board. He was no longer breathing.
’They kill their own people so readily? What the hell kind of organization is this?!’
This scene made Su Zhou frown. When he killed people, he was killing his enemies; it was natural for him to be decisive. But his opponents were desperately killing their own men, as if terrified he would interrogate them and learn something... Such cowardice, not an ounce of courage. Su Zhou’s opinion of his enemies sank even lower.
Su Zhou didn’t leave. He had the tavern staff bring out his grilled fish, along with a table and chairs. He then proceeded to eat among the pile of corpses, a feast fit for a graveyard, completely unfazed as he waited for his enemies to arrive.
As for the injured commoner family—who, he guessed, had likely been in contact with the Naisel family heir—Su Zhou left them in the care of an adventurer who knew how to heal.
While Su Zhou was willing to help, he didn’t know any Healing Techniques himself, aside from his own Super Regeneration Ability. ’I can’t just use Holy Water or my own blood every time I heal someone, can I?’ Though Su Zhou himself didn’t mind, he had to admit it would be a bit horrifying for others.
Naturally, the tavern staff didn’t dare to refuse Su Zhou’s request. If their previous respect for him stemmed merely from the innate intimidation of an Extraordinary Tier master, now they were in awe of his sheer power—the power to send a dozen armored Soldiers flying with a single punch, shattering them and the very street they stood on.
Back in the tavern, most of the gathered adventurers had dispersed. Anyone could see that this lord was here specifically to challenge those foreign Soldiers. His strength was terrifying, and he might actually be able to take them all down.
Unfortunately, they weren’t strong enough and couldn’t afford to offend either side. In a battle between Transcendents, the aftershocks alone could annihilate them. It was better to head home, lie low, and wait for the dust to settle.
However, another group of adventurers didn’t leave. Whether they were drunk or simply found Su Zhou’s actions immensely satisfying, they instead began to evacuate the civilians from the surrounding streets.
In this Otherworld, adventurers held a status similar to volunteer community workers or vigilantes. They could tell Su Zhou intended to wait right there for the enemy’s retaliation, so they began evacuating the surrounding civilians to prevent needless casualties.
Numerous whispers arose from those gathered around Su Zhou, who continued to eat nonchalantly.
"That’s got to be the power of a peak Elite Tier, right...?"
"Seeing him in that hooded robe, I thought he was a Mage. I didn’t expect him to be a Knight or a Warrior."
"That level of strength... it’s probably on par with the Duke when he was still alive! Could he be a contingency the Duke left behind?"
"Maybe he’s just passing through?"
Although Su Zhou still couldn’t understand these Otherworld languages, he could perceive the emotional fluctuations of the crowd and recognized a few words he had learned through Soul communication. He knew they were talking about him, but he didn’t care. Instead, he watched with great interest as a short, very young-looking adventurer cast a spell to heal the most seriously injured man from the family.
He could see patterns of light, like ripples of water, flowing from the adventurer’s hands. This Water Element manifestation controlled the man’s blood, staunching the bleeding. Then, the Spiritual Light shifted, transforming into the fluctuations of the Earth Element, which controlled the flesh, causing it to knit together and seal the wound.
Soon, most of the man’s external wounds had healed, and he was no longer in danger of infection or excessive blood loss.
’Huh, so you can do it like that?’ For a moment, Su Zhou felt he had learned something. His eyes widened in pleasant surprise. ’That makes sense. If you can control blood and flesh, you can manage most external injuries. I think I can learn this Healing Technique too!’
’After all, with the Five Spirits Colorful Feathers having transformed into his Reverse Scale, Su Zhou certainly had the means to control the Spiritual Qi of all the major Attributes. Even if he wasn’t proficient, he could still practice.’
’But that raised a question: who would be the guinea pig for my Healing Technique?’
Just as Su Zhou was pondering this question, a piercing alarm suddenly blared.
The alarm, which usually only sounded when undead Demons besieged the city, hadn’t been heard in the peaceful Naisel City for decades. As a result, most people didn’t even react at first, wondering where the sound was coming from.
The adventurers looked bewildered, and the commoners exchanged confused glances.
