"Not enough?" The Daoist Saint sighed. "Ah, Su Zhou. When the future of over a billion citizens, and perhaps all of humanity, rests on your shoulders, you can’t afford to gamble. No matter how far-fetched the possibility or how weak the justification, we simply cannot take that risk."

’We cannot gamble.’ How similar that was to what the Water God had said before its death.

Su Zhou instantly understood. For an entire race and civilization, that reason was more than enough. He couldn’t help but frown.

The Daoist Saint watched the contemplative Su Zhou with some satisfaction and nodded. "It’s just like the Celestial Venerable of the Beast God Realm, the Tree of Life. Although it’s theoretically been dead for a long time, we still have to confirm it and eliminate any possibility of its revival."

"Besides, who ever said that all these intense preparations of ours were only to deal with the life forms and powers around Earth?"

All that remained was a group of the old, weak, and infirm who were left behind... This made things awkward. None of the powers on Earth knew if those aliens or alien factions still remembered Earth’s coordinates. Even if the other side had also lost many Transcends due to the severing of Spiritual Qi, they certainly wouldn’t be as empty as Earth, which hadn’t even retained the ability for Interstellar Travel. ①
