It was undoubtedly a great thing to have the state provide resources for his advancement.
Su Zhou, of course, wasn’t going to be polite about it. His advancement was extremely important, both for himself and for Zhengguo.
So he didn’t hold back. For the list of resources he wanted to requisition, Su Zhou first filled an entire A4 sheet, then filled another. It was a good thing the Daoist Saint had already left and didn’t witness this, or he would have instinctively gasped.
Of course, while it might have sounded like an exorbitant demand, what Su Zhou had actually requested were all just Classics about Immortal Gods and information on unusual Cultivation Techniques.
*The Great Aspiration Ksitigarbha Sutra*, *Praying for Heaven, Raising Wind and Clouds, and Bringing Rain Technique*, *The Great Aspiration of the Celestial and Human Teacher*, *Lamp God Summoning Technique*, *Safe, Simple, and Reliable Prayer Technique User Manual*...
Other than a few Gemstones of special sizes and shapes that had to be artificially produced and were extremely difficult to form naturally, Su Zhou didn’t request any other resources. He simply used his Citizen Points to redeem these Classics.
Although it might seem like something strange had been mixed in, it must be said that, theoretically, Aladdin was also from Zhengguo. Therefore, it was perfectly normal for Zhengguo to have the *Lamp God Summoning Technique*, so there was no need to make a fuss.
Moreover, anyone with knowledge from a third-year high school Spiritual Energy Class could easily tell that all these Classics were related to ’Prayer’ and ’Great Aspirations’.
In other words, they were all related to things like Desire Power and Merit.
Su Zhou checked the list one more time, and once he was satisfied, he walked out of the conference room and headed to the central reception desk of the Security Bureau to submit it.
The Daoist Saint had already given a heads-up before he left. Besides, Su Zhou himself was part of the Security Bureau’s upper leadership, so his resource application would be approved quickly. It was unlikely anyone would be foolish enough to hold up his resources.
But Su Zhou knew that for someone at the Commander Tier, the most crucial thing wasn’t resources, but an understanding of the essence of one’s own life and one’s Divine Techniques.
’I’ve already completely dissected the Evil-Devouring Demon Lord Divine Technique and isolated all its component spells. The core of my Divine Technique, the essence of the Evil Soul, is actually a Demon Dao ritual. It uses Curse Power as a sacrifice and the act of killing an opponent as the rite to strip the power from an enemy.’
After leaving the conference room, while waiting for the Classics to arrive, Su Zhou strolled through the Security Bureau.
The Celestial Capital Security Bureau was the largest headquarters for an Extraordinary Organization in the world. In terms of scale, not even the NW Foundation’s headquarters, the Exotic Item Management Bureau, could compare.
It was located in the Northern Suburb of Celestial Capital, beneath a reservoir. The entire reservoir and thirteen subterranean levels of fortifications served as its protection. Even if it were hit by a high-yield, earth-penetrating hydrogen bomb, the integrity of the core database could at least be guaranteed.
When the Daoist Saint had brought Su Zhou into the Security Bureau via the Teleportation Array, he had boasted that even if the Immortal Gods were to return, the Security Bureau had ways to deal with them—so long as they weren’t Immortal Heavenly Immortals.
The interior of the Celestial Capital Security Bureau was decorated in a stark, minimalist modern style, all in snow-white. The corridors and doors in critical areas required a specific Spiritual Power signature and a security pass to get through.
Su Zhou had a security pass with clearance second only to the highest level, allowing him to walk freely wherever he pleased. Most of the Security Bureau members recognized the well-known figure and would exchange nods when they passed him.
As he walked, he continued to contemplate the essence of his power.
’Stripping the power from Evil People and making it my own—that is the essence of the Evil-Devouring Demon Lord.’
Similar abilities existed all over the world. Even the most ancient Witchcraft and Gu Techniques included Witchcraft where eating an enemy’s heart allowed one to obtain their power. Among the various Demons, there were also similar types that could imprison the Souls of others, absorbing human fear and resentment to increase their own strength.
Su Zhou’s Divine Technique, the Evil-Devouring Demon Lord, sounded terrifying and unfathomable. But upon detailed analysis, it could be broken down into more than a dozen spells, both large and small. He had already fully completed this deconstruction.
But simply deconstructing the Divine Technique wasn’t enough to satisfy Su Zhou. What he wanted was to take another power born from thought, one in the same category as ’Curse’—the power of ’Desire Power’—and merge it into his Evil-Devouring Demon Lord Divine Technique.
’When Evil People are hated and Cursed, I can use the Curse Power surrounding them as a sacrifice. After killing them, I obtain their power. The core of this ability is Curse Power.’
’But what about the opposite? Could Desire Power also be used by me? For example, if many people prayed to me, asking for my help or for me to fulfill one of their wishes, could I then use that Desire Power as a sacrifice, with the fulfillment of the wish as the ritual, to obtain power?’
’It would be based on the same principle as Buddha’s Great Aspiration, or a Lamp God answering a wish. If I could just integrate that concept into my Divine Technique...’
This was the state Su Zhou wanted to achieve.
The Evil-Devouring Demon Lord, which utilized Curse Power, was an active hunter. Though this seemed to offer a lot of freedom, its purpose could only be achieved by killing people.
Su Zhou was friendly, peaceful, and enjoyed interacting with others. Everyone—including his doctor—said he was a good person. Therefore, the fact that he could only kill people was, in Su Zhou’s opinion, not good. It didn’t fit his image.
Using the power of Desire Power, on the other hand, would be like being a Bounty Hunter: accept a mission, complete the mission, and then convert the Desire Power pooled by the masses into his own.
Most importantly, these missions wouldn’t be limited to killing. For example, back when Naisel City suffered a flood, the entire city’s population prayed for someone to make the waters recede. After Su Zhou made the waters recede, he was able to obtain the Wish Soul, which was formed from the condensed Desire Power of everyone in Naisel City.
