Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 499 - 9: Wish Power Divine Techniques (Part 2)Actually, Su Zhou didn’t know if they were truly souls, but he would call them that for now. After all, the name had to go with the "Evil Souls" from before.
In any case, Su Zhou believed this was highly feasible. If successful, it would undoubtedly enhance the versatility of the Evil-Devouring Demon Lord. It would also allow him to completely master his Divine Technique and mold the Evil-Devouring Demon Lord into his own image.
"Captain Su, hello. The Classics you requested have been sent over via the Teleportation Array. Specialized personnel have delivered them to your office. However, the Artificial Gemstones still need some time to be made. They also need to be placed in a Spirit Vein for artificial Spiritual Energy sedimentation, which might take a few days."
As Su Zhou was wandering about, a 3D projection suddenly appeared before him. A young, cat-eared female Cultivator politely greeted him and reported the results of his resource request. "Will this cause you any inconvenience?"
"Not at all. Thank you for the update."
When Su Zhou had first returned to Earth, the cat ears would have surprised him. Now, however, he was used to it. ’They’re just Dao Mimic Cultivators. If I really wanted to see something, the Bai Family is full of young ladies with tiger ears.’
Ever since Mimic Dao was revealed to the public, with Su Zhou and Jin Qiong as its public faces, the Zhengguo People hadn’t just accepted cultivators with unique bloodlines—they had embraced it as a new trend. Ordinary Dao Mimic Cultivators, who once had to find ways to conceal their features, no longer needed to deliberately suppress their power. They could now walk the streets freely.
Granted, people still stared at them as if they were rare animals or the Iron-eating Beast, but compared to looks of disgust, gazes of excessive curiosity were friendly enough.
The female Cultivator should have ended the projection after finishing her report, but she seemed captivated by Su Zhou’s hat and couldn’t help but ask, "This may be forward of me, Captain Su, but your hat... it’s very stylish. May I ask where you bought it?"
"Oh, I made it myself using a Mimic Dao Cultivation Method. Pretty fashionable, right?"
Yara tugged at his hair, but Su Zhou’s expression didn’t change as he spoke. The surprising thing was, it wasn’t even a lie! Yara’s body was formed from Su Zhou’s blood, so the process of it transforming to mimic a hat was, in fact, a standard application of Mimic Dao!
His answer left the cat-eared young lady stunned. She murmured, ’You can even use your hair to mimic a hat... Is that the true Mimic Dao?!’ ’I understand now. This is the true essence of Mimic Dao...’
After she closed the projection, Su Zhou headed to his office to begin reading the Immortal God Scriptures.
Su Zhou’s office had no decorations aside from a desk, a chair, and a sofa, since he didn’t usually work here.
The simple decor, however, was perfect for allowing him to focus on reading the ancient Classics one by one. He was learning about Immortal Gods, Daoists, Mages, and various other professions and origins, and their understanding of and research into Desire Power.
At Su Zhou’s level, he could read even an Immortal God Inheritance without issue. He immersed himself completely in the wisdom of his predecessors, comparing it with his own experiences.
’Divine Techniques are intimately connected to each individual. With the exception of bloodline-based Divine Techniques, the Divine Techniques awakened by any two sentient beings are never identical. Even if they appear similar, the underlying Magic that forms their essence is bound to be different.’
’In the past, what I wanted to become was retribution against evil. The Evil-Devouring Demon Lord was born in response to my wish, truly making me a hunter of evil.’
One day passed, then two. Su Zhou remained immersed in his Cultivation. Aside from when he called for food delivery, none of the Sages disturbed him.
His office was sealed with layer upon layer of Arrays, making it no different from a dedicated Seclusion Chamber. Everyone gave Su Zhou the greatest possible freedom and held the highest of expectations for him.
And Su Zhou did not disappoint them.
He developed a method suited for himself, a way to gather Desire Power to make himself stronger.
[A Wish is the heart’s primal thought, the destination to which it is drawn.]
[A sincere heart makes a Wish. A searching heart makes a Prayer. A joyful heart makes a Blessing. A fearful heart makes a Plea. A determined heart makes an Oath. A resentful heart makes a Curse. A wrathful heart makes Strife—the hearts are in turmoil, yet the Wish alone is constant.]
The so-called Curse was merely born from the curse of a resentful heart, while Desire Power was related to sincere wishes. But it was more than that. Every human emotion could resonate with Spiritual Qi, producing different powers and effects.
By converting Curses into Desire Power, or into other forms of power, Su Zhou could be like a Lamp God or a Demon, gathering the Desire Power of supplicants by ’responding to wishes’!
"Yara, it’s time!"
Although there were still a few minor problems to be solved, what new Magic or Divine Technique was ever flawless from the moment of its creation? Before putting it to practical use, Su Zhou had done the best he could for now. As for the special Gemstones required for the ritual, Zhengguo had already provided them.
—A star-tetrahedron diamond, sublimated with a Secret Technique, becoming a translucent, Stardust-like smoke, representing the Source of all things.
—A regular tetrahedron Ruby, burned with a Secret Technique, becoming a blazing flame, representing the first impulse.
—A regular hexahedron agate, pulverized with a Secret Technique, becoming a fine dust, representing the sedimented foundation.
—A regular octahedron lapis lazuli, vaporized with a Secret Technique, becoming a surging Gale, representing the force of motion.
—A regular icosahedron Sapphire, liquefied with a Secret Technique, becoming flowing ripples, representing the filling of Perfection.
—And finally, a regular dodecahedron of Cyan Jade, solidified with a Secret Technique, absorbing and condensing all the spiritual elements above, representing the completed world.
This extremely demanding Secret Technique was fully prepared in a mere two days, thanks to the government’s power. Both the Array Disc for inscribing the Secret Technique and the various Spiritualized Gemstones were Divine Objects one could only hope to stumble upon in a normal world. For Su Zhou, however, this was the simplest part of the preparations.
He pressed the final jade, which had turned completely colorless and transparent as if it had been fully Spiritualized, to his forehead. Su Zhou felt the regular dodecahedron of Divine Jade gradually merge into his Soul, causing his Soul to surge and enter an unprecedented realm.
And so, he called out to Yara, preparing to begin the next stage of his Sacred Geometry Cultivation.
But strangely, Yara did not immediately respond to Su Zhou’s call as it usually did.
The Snake Spirit transformed from a hat back into its serpentine form. It coiled down Su Zhou’s neck and arm, wrapping around his right wrist, its red eyes meeting his.
Yara remained silent for a thought-provoking moment. Then, it spoke calmly.
"Su Zhou, do you know what a being that can grant the wishes of others without limit is?"
