Andres was a senior agent specializing in tracking such dangerous Extraordinary Creatures and criminals. Pursuits like these naturally resulted in casualties, so as long as he was careful, concealing his past wouldn’t be difficult.
"You swore an oath... never to harm any human, never to do any evil."
Aistena sighed. The tall man’s eyes were filled with sorrow, yet his tone remained as cold as the wind from the Far North Icefield. "How exactly did you deceive the Sincere Oath?"
"The Continuous Prayer Meeting has a Secret Technique that can muddle the concepts of good and evil, allowing my personal sense of good and evil to replace that of the Sincere Oath."
Kneeling on the ground, Andres spoke calmly, "It’s strange when you think about it... I genuinely want to protect the citizens of the Federation. But for some reason, when it comes to killing people who aren’t, I don’t feel the slightest bit of guilt..."
Andres was led away. A severe sentence from the American Federation government awaited him. Although there was a growing movement among the common people to abolish the death penalty, for a dangerous Transcendent like him, death was inevitable once every last bit of his value had been wrung out.
The man showed no fear at this prospect. He allowed himself to be led away calmly, casting a strange glance only at Su Zhou.
"I even used the Secret Technique to reverse good and evil this time."
Andres kept his head down, not daring to look his teammates from the action team in the eye. He muttered under his breath, "Logically, no alignment detection should have worked on me... So why, Professor Su, were you able to see my true nature?"
This was what confused him the most—and it was also what confused everyone else present.
But Su Zhou’s answer was simple. "Because my Secret Technique doesn’t care about what others think of themselves. It only cares about what *I* think of them."
This reason immediately caused the corners of the eyes of Aistena, the Daoist Saint, Rafael, and Anjie, who were standing by with furrowed brows, to twitch. ’So you use that kind of chaotic judgment too? You’re just like him!’
It takes a villain to handle a villain.
But they didn’t know that Su Zhou’s Evil-Devouring Demon Lord Divine Techniques originated from Yara’s Sacred Geometry Cultivation Method, which he had awakened naturally. The Holy Snake Spirit Prayer Association, in fact, also drew upon Yara’s power... In a way, Andres’s Secret Technique and Su Zhou’s abilities were indeed from the same source; Su Zhou’s was simply stronger.
Since a spy from the Mysterious Organization had appeared within the American Federation’s ranks, the other major powers naturally had to conduct their own screenings as well.
Fortunately, aside from the American Federation, no other major power turned up a spy from the Mysterious Organization. Su Zhou had also used his Evil-Devouring Demon Lord Divine Techniques to check everyone in turn, and he too found no one truly vile or wicked.
A spy popping up isn’t so bad. It’s just awkward for whoever’s team they’re on.
Meanwhile, in the Spiritual Space, Yara was teasing Su Zhou.
"Su Zhou, did you hear that?" the Snake Spirit said with a laugh. "Killing people and devouring souls... that’s the path to becoming a Vampire, or even a Demon Fiend. Did you feel a thrill when you were eating that Evil Soul? Are you already addicted?"
The Soul-devouring Secret Technique and the Evil-Devouring Demon Lord, which fed on Evil Souls, were indeed similar abilities in essence. Even their methods and results were very much alike.
"Let’s not even get into the fact that I’m a Demon Lord. As for my companion, she’s practically the etymological root of the word ’demon’."
Su Zhou was completely unfazed by Yara’s teasing. He just shrugged. "I’ve never denied it. My abilities are, indeed, very ’evil’."
"But the most important thing is that everyone has demons in their hearts, and they’re always looking for an excuse to do evil... From the moment I awakened my first ability at the age of six, I’ve faced that temptation constantly."
"Children far weaker than me would provoke me. Punks who I could knock unconscious with a single punch—or kill with a slightly harder one—would try to extort my friends. Criminals would commit their evil deeds right in front of me... I could have, without a doubt, used my power to kill them all. Secretly or openly, I could have done it. And to me, my retaliation would have been completely justified. Beating them, killing them—that wouldn’t have even counted as evil. At least, not to my younger self, who couldn’t yet grasp the meaning of killing."
Su Zhou laughed at this point. "But I didn’t do it. The difference between me and Andres is that he’s still a normal person at his core. He knows what good and evil are, so he needs to find reasons, to find an excuse to violate the beliefs in his heart. And then, just like a traitor treats his former comrades more cruelly than the enemy ever would, he goes on a rampage of evil, all while telling himself that he’s in the right."
"But I’m not normal. I’ve always done as I please. I just never cross the line."
Because of the Andres incident, the mobilization rally was brought to a hasty conclusion to prevent any further complications.
"Let’s move out."
The speaker was the leader of the Ross Country action team, ’Meteor’ Anjie Ilyich. He was a Spiritual Martial Cultivator with a build even more massive than Aistena’s. At over 2.7 meters tall, he was like a colossal polar bear, and when he spoke, the very air vibrated, making one’s head spin.
But it would be a huge mistake to think Anjie only had a powerful physique. He possessed a formidable Wind-Fire Dual Ability and also cultivated Secret Ceremony Arrays. His sturdy body, forged through Spiritual Martial Arts cultivation, was the perfect foundation upon which to inscribe countless Secret Ceremony Arrays. In other words, Anjie’s entire body was covered in rocket thrusters forged from Spiritual Power. At any moment, he could unleash an impact several times the speed of sound, charging into enemy lines like a meteor.
