Nobody and Toma continued walking. Nobody noticed that Toma had unconsciously moved closer to him. Neither of them mentioned it. After several minutes, they finally found the building.
Nobody looked up at the apartment number. "This is it."
Toma nodded.
They entered the building together. The elevator was broken,so they climbed the stairs. By the third floor, Toma was breathing slightly harder.
Nobody glanced back. "Need a break?"
"No."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"You look tired."
"I’m fine."
Nobody smiled. "You said that very seriously."
Toma gave him an annoyed look. "Because I am fine."
Nobody laughed.
For some reason, the moment felt strangely familiar. He couldn’t understand why.
They reached the fourth floor. Nobody stopped in front of the apartment. He raised his hand and knocked.
A few seconds passed. Nobody knocked again. Finally, the door opened slightly.
A woman looked through the gap. "Yes?"
Nobody showed the photograph of Daniel. "We’re looking for Daniel Cross."
The woman’s expression immediately changed. She opened the door a little wider. "Why are you looking for my brother?"
"We’re from Nathan Industries. We wanted to ask him about some work-related matters."
The woman hesitated. Then she stepped aside. "Come in."
Nobody and Toma entered.
The apartment was modest, but clean. The woman closed the door behind them.
"When was the last time you saw Daniel?" Nobody asked.
"About three months ago."
"Do you know where he went?"
She shook her head. "He said he had found another job."
"Where?"
"He never told me."
Nobody’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Did he mention Eclipse Corporation?"
The woman’s face became tense.
Toma noticed.
Nobody noticed too. "Why did you react like that?"
"I didn’t."
"You did."
The woman looked away. After a moment, she sighed. "Daniel was frightened."
"Of what?"
"I don’t know."
She walked toward a small cabinet. "He started receiving strange calls. Sometimes he would leave the apartment in the middle of the night."
Nobody exchanged a glance with Toma. "Did he ever mention a name?"
The woman shook her head. "Only once."
"What name?"
She looked directly at Nobody. "Eclipse."
Silence filled the room.
Nobody slowly stood. "Did he leave anything behind?"
The woman hesitated. Then she pointed toward a locked drawer. "He told me never to open it."
Nobody looked at the drawer.
Toma whispered,"Nobody..."
He nodded. "Let’s see what’s inside."
The woman handed him the key. The lock clicked open. Inside was a small black notebook. Nobody picked it up.
The first few pages contained ordinary notes. Dates, names and payments. Then he reached the final page.
One sentence had been written in red ink.
If anything happens to me, don’t trust anyone inside Nathan Industries.
Nobody’s expression became serious.
Toma stepped closer. "That’s not good."
"No."
Nobody closed the notebook. "We should take this to Aiden."
He slipped the notebook into his bag.
But as they left the apartment, Nobody couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching them. He looked toward the street. People moved normally. Cars passed.
Nobody narrowed his eyes. Somewhere nearby, there was a faint presence. Not enough for him to identify. But enough to make his instincts react.
Toma noticed his expression. "What is it?"
"Nothing." He looked at her. "Stay close."
Toma nodded.
Neither of them realized that a figure stood on the rooftop of a building across the street. The figure watched them leave.
Then he pulled out his phone. "They found the notebook."
A voice answered from the other side. "Then we move tonight."
The call ended.
The figure looked down at Nobody. He smiled. "You really don’t know what you’ve stepped into."
Then he disappeared from the rooftop. Nobody and Toma continued walking toward the main road. Neither noticed the shadow following them from a distance.
But Nobody would. Just not yet.
Tonight, when the city became dark, Nobody would become someone else. And the people following him would soon discover why that was a mistake
...........
The northern district slowly disappeared behind them as Nobody and Toma walked back toward the main road.
The evening sky had already begun to darken.
Streetlights flickered on one after another, casting pale circles of light across the pavement. Cars passed along the road, their headlights briefly illuminating the sidewalks before disappearing around the next corner.
Toma walked beside Nobody in silence.
She seemed distracted. Every few seconds, her fingers brushed against the strap of her bag, almost as if she were checking whether something was still there.
Nobody noticed. "You’re unusually quiet," he said.
Toma looked at him. "Am I?"
"Yes."
She smiled faintly. "I was thinking about Daniel."
Nobody’s expression became slightly more serious. "So was I."
"That notebook..." Toma hesitated. "There was something strange about it."
"What part?"
"The way he wrote it."
Nobody glanced toward her.
Toma continued. "It didn’t feel like someone writing notes for himself. It felt like someone who knew he might disappear."
Nobody didn’t answer immediately. Because he had thought the same thing. The final sentence in the notebook wasn’t a warning written casually. It was a last message.
If anything happens to me, don’t trust anyone inside Nathan Industries.
And Daniel Cross had disappeared three months ago. Nobody’s gaze moved toward the reflection of a shop window. For half a second, he saw something.
A figure standing across the street. Black jacket. Dark cap. Face hidden.
The figure wasn’t looking at the shops. It was looking directly at them.
Nobody slowed down. The figure immediately turned away.
Toma noticed Nobody’s change in pace. "What happened?"
"Nothing."
"You stopped."
"I was thinking."
"About what?"
Nobody smiled. "Dinner."
Toma stared at him. "Dinner?"
"I’m hungry."
She laughed despite herself. "You’re unbelievable."
"That’s what people tell me."
They continued walking. But Nobody’s eyes occasionally returned to the reflections in the windows. The figure was gone. Still, he knew what he had seen. They were being followed. He didn’t tell Toma. Not yet.
There was no reason to frighten her without knowing who the person was.
A few minutes later, they reached the intersection where they needed to separate.
Toma stopped. "I’ll take the bus from here."
Nobody nodded. "Okay."
She looked at him for a moment longer than necessary. "Thank you."
"For what?"
"For coming with me."
Nobody shrugged. "You don’t have to thank me."
Toma smiled. "I still want to."
For some reason, that smile felt strangely familiar to Nobody. He couldn’t explain why. Something about the way she looked at him. Something about her voice. Something about standing beneath the streetlight with the evening wind moving through her hair.
It felt like a memory he couldn’t reach. Nobody frowned slightly.
Toma noticed. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah."
"You looked like you remembered something."
Nobody paused. "I don’t know."
Toma’s smile disappeared slightly. "Me neither."
The two of them stood quietly for a moment. Neither understood why the moment felt heavier than it should.
Then Toma’s bus arrived. She stepped toward it, but before getting on, she turned around. "See you tomorrow."
Nobody smiled. "See you tomorrow."
The bus pulled away.
Nobody watched until it disappeared. Only then did his expression change. His eyes moved toward the opposite side of the street. The same black-jacketed figure stood beneath a broken streetlight. This time, Nobody didn’t pretend not to notice.
The figure stared at him.
Nobody stared back.
For several seconds, neither moved.
Then the figure turned and walked into a narrow alley.
Nobody’s eyes narrowed. "Well..." He slipped his hands into his pockets. "That wasn’t subtle."
A familiar mechanical voice appeared inside his head.

"...Fair."
Nobody glanced toward the alley again. He couldn’t chase the person now. Not while wearing normal clothes.
Too many cameras. Too many witnesses. And more importantly, Toma was still nearby.
Nobody walked away from the intersection. He didn’t hurry. He didn’t look back. But his mind was already making plans.
Tonight, he would investigate properly.
..........
Several kilometers away, inside an abandoned office building, the man in the black jacket entered a dark room.
Two other men were waiting. One sat behind an old wooden desk.
The other stood near the window. "Well?"
The man removed his cap. "They found the notebook."
The man behind the desk frowned. "Are you sure?"
"I saw it myself."
"Who found it?"
"Daniel Cross’s sister gave it to them."
"And who were they?"
The observer hesitated. "A Nathan Industries employee."
"Name?"
"Nobody."
The room became silent.
The man near the window turned around. "Nobody?"
"Yes."
He frowned. "That name again."
The man behind the desk leaned back. "We should’ve dealt with him earlier."
"He doesn’t look important."
"Neither did Aiden."
The observer lowered his head. "What should we do?"
The man behind the desk tapped his fingers against the table. "Recover the notebook."
"And the people?"
A pause. "Don’t touch them unless necessary."
The observer nodded. "And if they interfere?"
The man’s expression hardened.
"Then make sure they regret it."
