Mushroom Lord in the Underground City

Chapter 809 - 795: Great Worm Virelis

Chapter 809: Chapter 795: Great Worm Virelis

Shadow Worms, considered mere waste-case demons of a few levels, held impressive battle records under Lin Jun’s command, even once exchanging one for one with a Diamond Level warrior.

And this was mostly thanks to their one and only skill—Melting Shadow.

With this skill, Shadow Worms could create a mobile shadow, hide inside it, and control it to move along the ground or walls.

This ability is somewhat like opening a dimensional rift alone, but behind it is a dead silent shadow space where, except for elemental creatures, no other lifeform can survive.

The Shadow Worm itself has no attack means, relying solely on drowning its prey within this shadow environment for hunting.

Being captured by the shadow does not mean there are no escape methods. Although it’s impossible to attack the inside from outside, the shadow space created by the Shadow Worm isn’t large. When partially ensnared, as long as you can find a way to eliminate the hiding Shadow Worm from within, the space will close and spit out the person who hasn’t been entirely engulfed.

However, if the prey is already entirely entrapped, even killing the Shadow Worm before losing life in the shadow space would result only in the mutual disappearance of both the Shadow Worm and the prey from this world.

Puki was quite effective against Shadow Worms. If captured, it would self-destruct, leaving the shadow space with no room for the Shadow Worm to evade its self-destruction.

However, all of this is premised on the wielder of the Melting Shadow skill being the fragile Shadow Worm.

And now, the "worm" Norris and his team faced had nothing to do with "fragile"...

The Abyss Beast took a step forward, shadows swiftly spreading from beneath its feet, swallowing roads, trees, and the charging Pukis.

Under their feet, the Pukis’ vision blackened, akin to sinking into a quagmire, struggling and continuously descending. Regardless of deploying Mushroom Cannons, swinging Blade Whips, or self-destructing, all Pukis vanished into the shadow without a sound.

"Full retreat!" After losing an entire Puki charge squad, Louisa decisively ordered the army to retreat.

Yet no soldier’s footsteps could match the accelerating darkness, shadows chasing them, engulfing the last Fat Otaku Puki and Heavy Armor Puki before proceeding to pursue the remaining soldiers and Pukis.

"Sister Blood, take to the sky!" Also fleeing for his life, Norris shouted aloud in the Fungal Network.

Having been tormented a lot by the boss, he knew more about the unconventional demon Shadow Worm from the Abyss than Louisa.

Louisa likewise understood immediately. After receiving the reminder, considering the current situation, she quickly surmised the reason.

She promptly recalled the flying Pukis striking from the air at the Abyss Beast: "All members of the flying group, bring the soldiers into the sky!"

Soon, soldiers were lifted into the air by pairs of flying Pukis.

Indeed, shadows clung to the ground, engulfing forests, spread onto rock walls, turning the ground into an ocean of shadows, yet consistently stayed adhered to the ground, unable to rise up like true sea waves to attack those targets flying in the sky.

But those Pukis left behind were entirely swallowed by shadows, severing their connection with the soldiers.

The Abyss Beast’s scorpion tail abruptly struck, several flying Pukis desperately ascending were shattered, mycelium scattering. Several Puki Masters entwined by tentacles screamed as they plummeted into the shadows, swallowed by black tides.

"Hahaha... A Puki army that stops at nothing? Why run away?" Virelis stood atop the dragon’s head, cradling her heart, tilting her head, her voice sickeningly sweet, "Don’t end it so quickly; summon stronger Pukis like in Dragon’s Roar Valley! Our love has only just begun!"

Virelis looked at the Pukis in the sky, loudly expressing her expectations.

Yet Louisa entirely ignored her taunts. Under her command, the flying Pukis flapped their wings with all their might, speeding away from the Abyss Beast’s attack range.

The good news was, although the Abyss Beast had broken wings, it couldn’t fly.

Though it had an Abyss Cannon as a ranged technique, using it to target the dispersed flying Pukis all over the air was akin to using a cannon on mosquitoes, virtually pointless. No one would do that unless insane.

Boom——

A pitch-black energy beam erupted from the dragon’s head of the Abyss Beast, with several unfortunate individuals vanishing in this sudden attack.

"Madman!" Little Pig couldn’t help cursing, then commanded, "All troops, disperse for retreat, regroup at the designated location!"

It wasn’t that Louisa was afraid, but the current configuration of the Unity Fungal Network was indeed inadequately equipped to deal with Virelis, a larger Shadow Worm. She needed to reorganize her troops.

Later, she might change the whole Puki configuration to flying Pukis and Jida, or wait for the Second Fungal Network to converge, allowing Numer Four to confront Virelis.

Even though the Abyss Beast was gigantic, compared to Numer Four, it would be like a small dog. That spread of shadow probably couldn’t swallow Numer Four.

The worst scenario would merely be allowing Numer Four to perform an unprecedented great self-destruction. Louisa didn’t believe Virelis could survive Numer Four’s self-destruction now.

Boom——

Another Abyss Cannon blasted forth, this time only claiming two soldiers.

Virelis leaned against the dragon horn, weeping, long hair hanging between her fingers, her voice choked and aggrieved: "Don’t go... stay... feel my love..."

As if she truly was a girl abandoned, standing in the rain, watching her lover leave.

At that moment, two long dragon roars sounded from the sky.

Two Giant Dragons, entangled, burst into view from the horizon, flying closer at extreme speed.

Lightning churned from the Thunder Dragon’s throat, a pale flash striking the Black Dragon, which sidestepped, with the lightning hitting a distant peak, obliterating the entire summit in explosion.

The Black Dragon countered with Corrosive Dragon Breath, enveloping the Blue Dragon and the forest below.

In the black mist, a streak of electricity flashed, the Blue Dragon spread its wings and soared out, only some dragon scales blackened, but the forest affected turned into a desolate ruin after the black mist cleared.

Both dragons clashed numerous times in a short moment, leaving behind residual shadows at unmatched speeds given their massive sizes.

At one point, two shadows merged into one.

The two dragons, entangled, plummeted from the sky, with deafening roars, crashing into the city behind Virelis.

From the soaring dust, thunder exploded once more!

The Black Dragon was abruptly forced out by a frenzy of lightning, smashing into another corner of the city.

Blue Dragon Azra flapped its wings fiercely, clearing the dust entirely, though covered in injuries, its eyes burned with fierce battle spirit.

It stared at the Black Dragon climbing up again, raising its head and asked: "Great Dragon, how’s it? Regret not killing me last time?"

The Great Dragon clawed out several cracked dragon scales on its chest: "Enough talk, if you can kill me, it just means you’re more suited to become an Ancient Dragon, nothing more."

"Hahahaha, yes, that’s indeed true!"

Both dragons gazed at each other, battle spirit rekindled!

Suddenly, shadows rapidly extended from the side.

Along with them came Virelis’s scream: "You too, stay and share my love!"
