The teacher’s voice wasn’t loud. But it cracked across the stage like lightning itself.

"I moved to a new room."

"It’s in the Year 3 building. I had to move out of my old Year 2 building completely. I’m staying with the Year 3s now. Something else came up and I was late."

Lynx bowed, straight back, eyes down. "It will never happen again teacher."

Jace nodded, giving his approval. A single, sharp nod.

While internally he was stunned.

’This kid is staying at a Year 3 room?.’

And in case you forgot, you have to beat a person to stay the person’s room, and Year 2 students are no match for Year 3 students.

To take a Year 3’s room meant he’d beaten someone strong enough that the seniors couldn’t retaliate.

Jace looked at Lynx again, masking his emotions completely, before he accessed his other students. But the thought lingered.

He looked at his side and saw Eira.

"These fuckers, instead of listening to their teacher talks, they are gawking at Eira," Lynx thought, irritation bubbling under his calm face.

’She must be one of his women, or just his admirer,’ Ava thought, ’but the way he’s letting her stand too close to him is way pass the admirer stage. She’s definitely his woman.’

Ava removed her gaze from Lynx and fixed it at the teacher, but her hands had clenched into fists.

Lynx and Eira noticed what happened. They shared a look.

"So she’s your girlfriend?" Eira smirked, leaning in closer. Her perfume hit him. Sweet and sharp.

"Well, soon to be. Not yet, don’t worry, I’m not letting you go either."

"Oh I know."

And then Eira did it. She planted a kiss on his lips. Right there. On the stage, on live, where almost all the students that aren’t here in the stands and probably watching online from wherever they are could see it.

The Arena went quiet.

You could hear a pin drop. Then the livestream chat exploded.

Eira just declared that she’s Lynx woman.

Publicly. And so fucking bold.

Even Kira from the stands was slightly surprised. She sat frozen. Emily too, she came after Lynx went to the stage earlier and was sitting with Kira, and she nearly choked on her soda.

"Looks like we’ve got competition," Emily whispered to Kira, eyes wide. "with the way she’s even acting around him, I’m sure they must have done more than Kissing."

Kira face went red as she imagined what Emily said. Her ears burned.

"Stop blurting out shameless this like that. Beside I don’t really care who Lynx is with. I know I’ll always be in his heart."

She said it confidently. But her fingers were gripping the seat too hard. She was sure Lynx likes her. They kissed on the lips twice now.

"Arghn" she groaned. She decided to stop overthinking it.

On stage.

Ava glared at Eira. She mouthed "bitch" at her, slow and clear, while Teacher Jace expressionless face turned sour.

"Not only did you guys not listened to what I was saying but you’re also fooling around. Is this a joke?"

His voice dropped 10 degrees. The air got heavy. Static crawled over everyone’s skin.

Neither Lynx nor Eira answered him.

Lynx just looked forward, face neutral. Eira licked her lips and smiled like she didn’t have a care in the world.

Seeing that, Jace got more infuriated, his eyebrow’s twitched. Veins appeared at his temple. But he calmed himself. It wouldn’t be good if he blew this place up because of some kids kissing when he was talking.

"Okay, Now we will start. I already know My strongest Students. During our classes, we’ve had a lot of combat, real and practical."

The students nodded. They already knew their top students and who’s likely to get chosen from their class. Teacher Jace made sure to check their progress and gauge their strength every 2 weeks. He was thorough. Brutal, but thorough.

"But because of the rules. We will still have to undergo the Ascension trials. But Mine will Be different."

The students now were eager to know. Murmurs started. Even Lynx was curious. He didn’t know all these.

How was he supposed to know that the Lightning affinity student already knew their top 10 and top 2 students.

He hasn’t attended any other affinity class other than Fire Affinity. He’d been too busy fighting for his life in the forbidden zone and fucking some bad bitches on this planet.

"You guys will face me directly. Each and Everyone of you."

He let that sink in before he continued. Once again, the arena was quiet too.

"The rules are simple. Survive 8-10 minutes against me and you qualifies."

Murmurs rippled among the students at the stands instantly.

"Does Teacher Jace wants to Kill his students"

"I heard that he’s the second strongest Lightning Affinity teacher in this academy"

"Who the fuck will last 5 minutes against teacher Jace"

But On the stage, the students were having a different reaction.

They were happy, smiling.

"Finally we have to fight the master," one said, pumping his fist.

"Yeah, we already know the 10 strongest students in our class. Would be boring if we just fought each other again."

"Yeah, at least this way we learn something."

"Okay quiet down," Jace finally spoke. Lightning sparked at his fingertips, and the noise died instantly.

"I’m not going nowhere near easy on you guys. This isn’t some training. The 2 Students who will survive up to 8 Mins against me..."

He paused. His eyes swept over the 30 students present on stage, sharp and assessing.

"Will be the Students chosen to represent Aether Academy on the big day."

The students were... not that shocked. Because they already expected it.

If they were to follow the normal rules, it would have be boring. Since they knew the strongests students in their class, if they were to fight each other, they wouldn’t even try because they knew they won’t win and won’t give their best.

They’ve already fight against each other countless times during combat training and tests.

But if they were to fight their Teacher, their master...

Not only will all of them give it their all, they will also finally fight against their Master and Teacher. Although they knew they won’t win, they will try to survive the 8-10 mins against him. That alone was an honor.

Lynx understood what they were thinking. He checked their stats one by one, the information flooding his vision.

While he stifled his laughter and shakes his head.

"Something funny?" Eira asked, noticing.

"Nope, just inner thoughts," Lynx replied, while going back to his neutral expression.

Cause how would he explain to her that, none of them except him, could last 8 fucking minutes against that monster.

That man who just had to get angry and get this done with in few seconds. Hell he didn’t even need to get angry. One serious bolt and the stage and students would be fried before they could blink.

Well, maybe some students will surprise both him and the Teacher. You never know. Underdogs existed for a reason.

The students chatter died down. The Arena was quiet once more.

Jace pointed at the hologram in the air and shot a straight simple lightning to it.

The names scrambled and arranged.

Ava Musk was second. Eira was 10th.

While Lynx was the last person to fight.

"Kyle Julep. Step forward. The rest of you guys leave the stage. This Ascension trials will start and end today."

Jace spoke loud enough for the students to hear, voice carrying to the last seat.

They left the stage in an orderly line. Leaving only Kyle and Teacher Jace.

Kyle was sweating bullets. His legs were shaking.

The teacher set a timer. A big red 10:00 appeared in the air above them.

The remaining 29 students didn’t went to the spectator stands. They each found a spot, at the back and side of the stage. Awaiting their turn. Close enough to learn, far enough not to get electrocuted.

Lynx was with Ava at his right, Eira at his left.

Instead of watching the fight which was about to happen, the students at the spectator areas where watching them.

The Boy with Godly looks with two beautiful goddess by his side. One glaring daggers, the other smiling like she owned him. Breast Big And Bouncy but Eira Edge Ava on that one slightly. Both got Jucy Ass.

And Somehow he was still more attractive than them.

Kyle took his stance. Jace cracked his hands. "Let’s get this over with."
