The morning light cut through the big curtains in thin gold lines and landed right across Lynx’s face, but he didn’t wake from that.
He woke from the vibration on the nightstand, once, then twice, buzzing against the wood like an angry insect.
He was still half tangled in sheets and Amira, her head on his chest, one leg thrown over his.
Her breathing slow and warm against his skin, and for a second he just laid there, listening to her, feeling the faint glow still humming under her skin from last night.
Then the phone buzzed again.
Lynx groaned and reached over her, snagging it without looking, and when he did look, his eyes narrowed immediately.
ROSE: COME TO THE ACADEMY NOW.
MY OFFICE.
"What the hell," he said out loud, because 8:07 AM was way too early for all caps from Rose Firehart.
Amira shifted, her eyes still closed, voice muffled against his collarbone. "Who’s texting you this early," she mumbled.
"My teacher Rose," Lynx said, sitting up and running a hand through his hair. "She wants me at the academy, right now, in her office, and she’s not asking."
That made Amira open her eyes, grey and still soft with sleep. "The strict always angry one you kissed?" she said, pushing herself up on her elbows.
"Yeah..." Lynx murmured
"What’s with that face, you fucked your aunt. And you kissed your teacher. You got balls my young man." Amira laughed at lynx face when she said that as the sheet slipped down and she didn’t even care. "Is it an emergency?"
"Don’t know," Lynx said, typing back to Rose fast, ignoring what Amira just said. "Is there an emergency?"
Three dots, then: ROSE: DONT ASK. COME HERE NOW.
"Yeah," Lynx said, tossing the phone down.
"There’s a problem."
He turned to Amira, cupped her cheek with his palm, thumb brushing over her cheekbone. "Come on, love, we gotta move."
She groaned but nodded, and they got up together.
Neither of them technically needed to bathe, Primordial Healing had already scrubbed Lynx clean down to the cells, and Amira was a Blessed.
She could go a week in a dungeon and still smell like vanilla and sunlight, but they were human too, or at least raised human, so the habit was stuck in them.
So they went to the bathroom together, stood under the hot water, and Lynx washed her hair for her while she leaned back into him.
Her eyes closed, humming. He brushed her teeth with her, then his, the mirror fogged and both of them were looking wrecked in the best way.
After that came clothes, and breakfast.
Amira was getting scary good at cooking after almost two weeks with him in the mansion.
No more burnt toast, no more weird soup experiments. This morning it was pancakes with berries, eggs that weren’t rubber, and coffee that actually tasted like coffee instead of punishment.
Lynx ate two full plates because his body could, and because she kept watching him with that little proud smile like she’d just conquered a war.
While she was rinsing dishes he pulled out his phone and opened the group chat he’d accidentally made weeks ago.
[LYNX: Change of plans. I’ll be at the academy today... emergency]
It exploded instantly.
[EIRA: wait what?? I thought you were coming on the weekend]
[KIRA: what happened]
[EMILY: are you okay]
[LIRA: YOU’RE COMING TODAY???]
[AVA: Reallyy finally]
[LYNX: Teacher Rose texted me, told me to come to her office now, she was typing in all caps and didn’t sound happy]
[EIRA: oh, yeah that’s an emergency then]
[LIRA: but that’s not fair, you watched my fight on live but you didn’t come physically]
[LYNX: I’ll pay you back, I promise]
[LIRA: you better]
[KIRA: just don’t piss her off, she’s scary]
[EIRA: see you soon, big boy]
Lynx pocketed the phone and looked over at Amira. "Ready?"
She nodded, already grabbing her keys and her bag. "Let’s go deal with whatever Rose wants."
They left the mansion in her automobile, Amira driving, Lynx chilling in the passenger seat like a princess. The automobile smelled like her, like vanilla and that sweet lotion she used after showers.
The first few minutes were quiet, just the sound of the engine and music low in the background, but then Amira reached over and put her hand on his thigh.
"Text me every day," she said, not looking at him.
"I will," Lynx said immediately.
"And visit when you can," she added, squeezing. "Even if it’s just for a few hours, I don’t care."
"I will," he repeated, covering her hand with his. "I promise, Amira."
She glanced at him, then back at the road, and smiled a little. "The clothes I bought you are still in the closet, anytime you come back they’ll be there for you, so don’t think you have to bring anything."
Lynx laughed softly. "You just trying to make sure I have a reason to come back?"
"Maybe," she said, and her smile got bigger. "Is it working?"
"Yeah," he said. "It’s working."
They pulled up to the academy gates twenty minutes later.
Lynx got out first, stretching his arms over his head, and Amira came around the car to meet him. Before he could even speak she was in his arms, kissing him like she didn’t want to let go, and he kissed her back, his hand in caressing her face and her hair.
"Be safe," she whispered when they broke apart.
"Always, I’m strong remember," he said, hugging her tight one more time. She laughed at that.
And that’s when he heard it. That word.
"Awwwnn."
They both turned.
Eira was standing at the gate in full academy uniform, and it looked criminal on her, the skirt short, the jacket fitted, breast big, curves full, plump ass, her tan skin glowing.
Her dark eyes were sharp, her dark hair falling past her shoulders, and behind her were Ava and Lira, both staring with their mouths slightly open.
Amira let go of Lynx but kept hold of his hand, and stepped forward with a smile. "Nice to meet you too," she said. The girls took good look at Amira and were stunned.
Eira recovered first, grinning. "Eira," she said, looking at Amira again, up and down. "Holy shit, you’re even prettier in person. You’re eyes are so beautiful. You’re so hot. I can see why Lynx don’t want to come back to the academy. Hell if I was living with you? I won’t be anywhere else."
Amira laughed. "Thank you, and you, your uniform looks really good on you, and your hair, it’s darker than mine, I love it."
Eira flushed, clearly pleased. "You think? Thanks."
Ava came next, white hair, blue eyes, and yeah, the big boobs that Eira always compared with hers about in the chat. Even though they had almost the same massive boobs for their ages. "I’m Ava," she said, offering a hand. "You’re gorgeous."
"You are too," Amira said. "I love your hair, and your eyes, and... well, everything."
And then Lira, green hair, green eyes, and she looked like she was about to pass out. "I’m Lira," she said quietly. "You’re really beautiful."
Amira smiled at her, soft and warm. "And you’re cute, really beautiful too, all of you, you look way better than on calls."
Lira blushed hard and ducked her head. "Th-thank you."
Lynx looked around them. "Where are Kira and Emily?"
Lira looked up, still pink from the compliment. "They have a match at eleven, so they’re in the training rooms getting ready and stuff like that."
Amira nodded. "Then I should go, nice to meet you all once again."
She turned back to Lynx, kissed him one more time, slow and lingering. "Text me," she whispered.
"I will," he said.
She got in the car and drove off, waving once through the window.
The second she was gone, Lynx was being attacked by three girls at once. Eira on his right arm, Ava on his left, Lira practically glued to his side, hugging him like she was afraid he’d disappear.
"I can’t believe you’re actually here," Lira whispered, looking up at him. "Like, you’re really here, and you’re so... you."
"What do you mean ’so you’," Lynx said, laughing.
"Nothing," Lira said quickly, but her eyes were stuck on his face, on his heterochromatic eyes, one blue, one silver, both ringed with gold and she couldn’t stop staring. "You’re just really handsome, okay, it’s not fair."
Eira rolled her eyes. "Alright, let the man breathe, Lira."
They started walking back toward the main building, the four of them, and Lynx was sandwiched between them, and honestly he didn’t hate it. Why the hell would he.
"So," Ava said. "Professor Rose was really screaming through chat?"
"Yeah," Lynx said. "By the way. Which one of you actually knows where her office is?"
All three of them burst out laughing.
"What," Lynx said.
"You’re so funny," Eira said, wiping her eyes. "You’ve been here how long and you don’t know where anything is?"
"I’ve been in the trials," Lynx said, shrugging. "And training. I haven’t had time for a tour."
"Hmmm," Eira said, dragging the sound out. "Right, the trial, and training. Or you mean having sex?"
Lynx shot her a look. "I haven’t had sex with any girl in the academy, for the record."
Eira raised a brow, smirking. "Hmmm."
"It’s true," Lynx said, serious now. "I don’t have sex randomly."
Ava snorted. "Sure you don’t."
After some minutes they reached Teacher Rose Office. A brass plate was at the door that read.
"PROFESSOR ROSE FIREHART. YEAR 2 FIRE AFFINITY TEACHER."
"Here," Eira said, pointing. "This is it."
"We’ll see you in the arena after," Ava said softly. "Just don’t piss her off, okay?. She’s takes things really seriously."
"She’s not nice, maybe worse than Professor Selene," Lira added quickly, looking worried. "I’ve heard lot of rumors about her too."
Lynx laughed. "You guys aren’t even in her class though."
"You’ve been in her class like once or twice. While we’ve been here long enough to know her."
"Fairs," Lynx said, nodding.
Lira hugged him one more time, tight. "Be good, okay, don’t make her mad."
"I won’t," Lynx promised, kissing the top of her head.
And then Lira, probably without thinking, went up on her toes and pressed a quick, feather light kiss to his cheek.
Barely there at all, and then she gasped and ran off with Eira and Ava, all three of them whispering and giggling as they walked away.
Lynx rubbed the spot on his cheek and laughed softly under his breath. "She’s so Cute," he murmured.
Then he turned back to the door.
He took a breath, and before he knocked he flicked his eyes up and pulled up his stats, the bluish screen appearing only for him.

He stared at the numbers for a second, then closed it. "Yeah," he thought, "days of intense sex with Amira paid off, I got stronger, and my body is still absorbing the small amount of power I took from Nyx during our nights together."
He raised his hand and knocked, three solid knocks against the wood.
For a few seconds there was nothing, just silence from inside, then he heard a click, and a voice from inside, it was low and sharp.
"Come in."
Lynx exhaled, reached for the handle, and opened the door, stepping inside.
A/N: I think I’ll be changing the word to professor now. Could have done this earlier. Or should I keep using teacher? Lemme know. Thanks.
