My Beasts Grind Proficiency For Me
Chapter 509 - 23: 9 Yang Life Generating PillThe Black Tortoise withdraws into its shell; the Soaring Serpent coils upon itself. Here lies the wellspring of motion and stillness, the mother of Yin and Yang.
When a Soaring Serpent is born, its Divine Soul naturally contains a wisp of Innate Chaotic Qi.
This Qi is exceptionally precious, even more so than Innate Pure Yang Qi or Innate Pure Yin Qi. It is typically only created when a Realm is first carved out of the void. If it can be extracted in its entirety, it possesses the miraculous ability to help a Nascent Soul Cultivator transcend their tribulation and break through to the Divinity Transformation Realm.
In the Nine Heavens World, Heaven and Earth Spiritual Objects that can help a Nascent Soul Cultivator break through to Divinity Transformation are few and far between. They are typically monopolized by the top Major Sects of the Central Continent.
Although the Purple Mist Sect was one of the more prominent Major Sects on the Central Continent, it was only comparable in scale to the Six Sects of the Western Continent and naturally possessed no such Heaven and Earth Spiritual Objects. Even if the sect acquired one by a stroke of luck, it would certainly never be given to Danxia True Monarch, who, despite his mastery of the Alchemy Skill, had merely mediocre cultivation Talent.
Years ago, Danxia True Monarch had been invited by the Jade Poison Great Saint to perform Alchemy for a Consort in the harem to ensure a safe pregnancy. When he realized the newborn Si Taizhen was not merely of the Soaring Serpent Bloodline but a genuine, living Soaring Serpent, his Dao heart nearly collapsed, almost causing him to suffer a qi deviation.
He forced himself to remain calm, hoping to deceive the Jade Poison Great Saint. But the Great Saint had not survived by maneuvering between the Three Great Demon Realms through sheer Power alone; he easily saw that something was amiss with Danxia True Monarch.
At the time, Danxia True Monarch only had an Early Stage Nascent Soul cultivation and specialized in Alchemy, not Magical Combat. How could he possibly stand against the battle-hardened Jade Poison Great Saint? With no other choice, he confessed everything he knew.
The Jade Poison Great Saint valued his eleventh son’s astonishing Talent, but he valued his own Cultivation far more. If it meant breaking through to the Divinity Transformation Realm, he would sacrifice the boy without a second thought.
However, Si Taizhen had only just been born, and the Innate Chaotic Qi within his Divine Soul was still weak. At most, it was only enough to help a single Nascent Soul Cultivator break through to the Divinity Transformation Realm.
Having stumbled upon this once-in-a-millennium opportunity, Danxia True Monarch swore he would die before Refining the Chaos Pill for the Jade Poison Great Saint.
Besides Danxia True Monarch, the Jade Poison Great Saint didn’t know many other Alchemists. Furthermore, Danxia True Monarch wasn’t some nobody without backing. If he were to die suddenly in the Jade Poison Kingdom, the Purple Mist Sect would undoubtedly come seeking answers, a troublesome prospect even for the Great Saint.
The two could only come to an agreement: they would wait until Danxia True Monarch reached Nascent Soul Perfection and the Innate Chaotic Qi within Si Taizhen’s Divine Soul was potent enough for both of them. Only then would they join forces to refine the Chaos Pill.
To prevent Si Taizhen from falling in love or having his Innate Chaotic Qi triggered by the forces of Yin and Yang, which would cause it to dissipate, Danxia True Monarch went so far as to refine a Nine Yin Transformation Pill and a Nine Yang Life-giving Pill as a precaution.
Ten years ago, he had secretly observed Si Taizhen and saw that the Chaos Qi was stable and showed no signs of disturbance. He had thought he could save these two precious Tier Four Elixirs, but an accident had occurred nonetheless.
’How strange.’
Danxia True Monarch had discovered the anomaly long ago. But after a covert investigation, he found no traces of Extreme Yang or Pure Yang Qi. He could only conclude that Si Taizhen must have fallen for some man.
’The path to great things is never smooth.’
It had been eight hundred years. Motivated by the promise of the Innate Chaotic Qi, he had unleashed incredible potential. A year ago, despite his mediocre talent, he had actually managed to reach the Nascent Soul Perfection Realm and had even received a few words of praise from his sect’s Divinity Transformation Ancestor.
Just as he was preparing to team up with the Jade Poison Great Saint to refine a cauldron of Chaos Pills, an unexpected complication arose—the sudden emergence of the Xuyu Coral.
Now, not only did several Nascent Soul Realm Demon Cultivators have their eyes on the Jade Poison Kingdom, but even Celestial Demons wanted to get involved.
The Jade Poison Kingdom had become a hornet’s nest.
Danxia True Monarch was a cautious man. His original plan was to delay for a few more years until the storm over the Xuyu Coral passed. He never imagined that the Innate Chaotic Qi within Si Taizhen’s Divine Soul would suddenly begin to change.
This was tantamount to ripping out his very lifeblood.
Though he managed to maintain some semblance of composure in front of his disciples, inwardly he was as anxious as an ant on a hot skillet.
The Jade Poison Great Saint, for his part, was overwhelmed dealing with the Demon Cultivators and Celestial Demons, and had left the task of stabilizing the Innate Chaotic Qi to him.
Danxia True Monarch could only pin his hopes on the Nine Yin Transformation Pill.
’I would have thought, given Taizhen’s heroic nature, that if he were to fall for someone, it would be a woman, causing the Chaos Qi to turn yang. I never expected it to be a man. Who could it be?’
He had found no evidence of Si Taizhen coming into contact with Pure Yang Qi, so he could only assume the prince had lost his heart to some man.
But no matter how much Danxia True Monarch racked his brain, he couldn’t guess the man’s identity.
* * *
"Crown Prince! How could you drink so much?" Eunuch Gui said, looking at the staggering, drunken Si Taizhen.
At the banquet, after easily defeating the Seventh Prince, Si Taizhen had started drinking nonstop. The alcohol served today happened to be a rare Spirit Wine, and he had quickly become completely intoxicated.
"It’s nothing, it’s nothing," Si Taizhen slurred. "My brothers always refuse to spar with me. It’s not every day I get to have a proper match with my seventh brother. I’m just so happy."
Within the Jade Poison Kingdom, his Martial Arts were such that he had few rivals.
His elder brothers, afraid of losing face, rarely agreed to spar with him after being defeated once. As for the other Golden Core Cultivators in the Bishui Kingdom, they were even less of a match. It was only because the Seventh Prince had been so stubborn this time that Si Taizhen had finally gotten a satisfying fight.
He could have circulated his True Gang to sober up, but he was enjoying the rare sensation of being tipsy and didn’t care in the slightest that his face was flushed beet-red.
With a resigned sigh, Yang Jing twisted his body and transformed into a massive serpent.
Si Taizhen clambered onto his serpentine body. Yang Jing was about to take flight by manipulating the water below when Si Taizhen suddenly staggered, flopping forward onto his back and nearly sliding off completely.
"The Crown Prince is too drunk," Eunuch Gui said with a sigh. "Si Bing, change back to your human form and carry him on your back."
"What are you looking at me for? You don’t expect *me* to carry him, do you? When the Crown Prince is drunk, he doesn’t know his own strength. One careless move and he’ll snap this old man’s neck!"
Yang Jing could only change back into his human form and lift Si Taizhen onto his back. The Crown Prince felt boneless, as pliant as water against him. A pair of long, slender arms draped over Yang Jing’s shoulders, emitting a faint, refreshing coolness.
"Si Bing," Si Taizhen murmured, his head resting on Yang Jing’s back. "You smell so nice."
The fine hairs on Yang Jing’s body stood on end. ’Snakes are lustful by nature,’ he thought. ’Could this Si Taizhen actually be into men?’
"Eunuch Gui, can’t we borrow a carriage from the Third Prince’s Mansion? I’ll pull it back myself."
"Hmph. The Crown Prince is already in this state. I wouldn’t dare borrow anything from the Third Prince," Eunuch Gui snorted, worried that the carriage might be rigged with some kind of trick.
"You big oaf! I ask you to carry the Crown Prince for a little while and you try every excuse to get out of it!"
