My Beasts Grind Proficiency For Me
Chapter 633 - 147: Yangyi General, Sun Worship GeneralChapter 633: Chapter 147: Yangyi General, Sun Worship General
Over twenty Flying Boats formed a fleet, weaving through the sea of clouds like a school of fish. The clouds surged like mountains and oceans. The Flying Boats, massive as they were, seemed as insignificant as a single grain in the vast sea when compared to the skyscape.
The boundless sky and the endless azure expanse stretched out before them, an infinite vista to behold.
Many of the Cultivators aboard the Flying Boats were dumbfounded, having never witnessed such a magnificent sight.
Yang Jing sat aboard the Tier Four Flying Boat. All emblems of the Red Sun Sect had been removed, and it had been renamed the *Wave-Tamer*. The other Flying Boats had either been gathered from the Noble Families of the Western Continent or purchased with Spirit Stones. The ships were all different, a motley collection of various types.
"Relay the order to all ships: form a V-formation!"
When a single Flying Boat fought, there was no formation to speak of; it relied entirely on the Arrays aboard the ship. But in fleet combat, formations were paramount. A well-arranged formation allowed a fleet to concentrate its numbers and Power in a localized area, overwhelming a weaker or smaller enemy force.
There were many intricacies to this. Different types of Flying Boats would produce vastly different results even when forming the same V-formation or standard formation. The genius of its application lay in the mind of the commander.
The Demon Court was completely incapable of building Flying Boats, and the Demon Sect’s vessels were far weaker than those of the Righteous Dao. Therefore, Yang Jing didn’t expect his fleet to shift formations as if they were an extension of his own limbs. He only hoped they could form up successfully without any mistakes.
At Yang Jing’s command, the entire Flying Ship Fleet began to maneuver. However, the pilots’ skills were uneven, so the change in formation was clumsy and halting. After an entire hour, they finally managed to form a somewhat messy V-formation.
This formation was mostly used in major battles. The Flying Boats would spread out like a flock of geese in flight, allowing them to maximize the Power of their various offensive Grand Arrays.
After directing the fleet through several minor variations of the V-formation, Yang Jing issued another command: form a standard formation.
The standard formation was a defensive arrangement, often used when the fleet was flying through dangerous territory. If a sudden attack was necessary, the entire fleet could rapidly switch to an offensive formation to engage the enemy and cover any damaged Flying Boats.
This formation was the most common, but because the spacing between the Flying Boats was smaller than in the V-formation, it was actually more difficult to execute.
The Flying Boats moved at incredible speeds. The slightest error from a pilot could lead to a collision.
The pilots scrambled to adjust their positions.
The crews of two Flying Boats suddenly cried out in alarm. The Cultivator piloting one of them had failed to maintain the proper distance, and the two ships were about to collide.
The Array Masters on board scrambled to activate the Defensive Arrays to prevent both Flying Boats from being destroyed.
Even so, the Flying Boats were enormous. The force of their impact, even from a light graze, was immense. A hastily activated Defensive Array might not be able to block it.
At that critical moment, two giant, Five-Colored hands suddenly grabbed the hulls of the Flying Boats. The momentum of the two ships was instantly halted, and the hands forcibly pulled them apart.
The crew members on the ships didn’t even know what had happened. They only felt a dazzling, five-colored light envelop them before their Flying Boat came to a dead stop.
Yang Jing retracted the two Five-Colored hands. He knew accidents were inevitable when first practicing the standard formation, so he had been ready to intervene.
"The pilots and captains of both ships will each be disciplined with fifty strokes of the military rod. Continue the drill. Do not slack off."
Witnessing Yang Jing wield such unfathomable Great Magical Power, no one on the Flying Boats dared to slack off in the slightest.
After seven days of drills at sea, Yang Jing led the fleet back to Dawn Island, where they anchored in the sky above.
"Make sure to carefully record all oversights and accidents that occurred during the drills. Announce them to the entire army so they are not repeated."
Yang Jing said, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
Even with his Magical Power, constantly intervening with the Flying Boats for seven days had left him quite exhausted.
"As you command."
Yinjiao accepted the order with a solemn expression.
Yang Jing had already placed Yinjiao in command of the Flying Boats, with the title of Yangyi General, and put Iron Head in command of the Cultivator army, with the title of Sun Worship General. However, without an official decree from the Western Continent, he had not named himself Governor.
He flew down from the Flying Boat and saw that the army on the island was already taking shape. It had been divided into two forces and was conducting offensive and defensive drills. Dust billowed and signal smoke rose to the heavens.
Yang Jing had barely landed when Wood Palace True Monarch hurried over to greet him. He was even more excited than Xuan Yang True Monarch had been during his visit the other day.
"Fellow Daoist Yang, Fellow Daoist Yang! Six Divinity Transformation Ancestors have come to visit this time! A full six of them!"
Before today, Wood Palace True Monarch had never even met a Divinity Transformation Cultivator. Now, seeing six at once, he found it impossible to remain composed.
Yang Jing nodded, his expression calm. ’The Divinity Transformation Cultivator from the Red Sun Sect who fled some time ago comes to mind,’ he thought. ’He must have already switched to the Puppet body, and the Power he displayed must have been extraordinary. Otherwise, these six Divinity Transformation Cultivators wouldn’t have all shown up at my door.’
’Looks like the Red Sun Sect gave me some free advertising.’
As Yang Jing stepped into the hall, six pairs of eyes fell upon him at once. Even just bearing the faint remnants of their aura, Wood Palace True Monarch was instantly drenched in sweat. He had to circulate his Magical Power with all his might just to keep from collapsing to the floor.
"Greetings to the six of you, seniors."
Yang Jing said, neither servile nor overbearing, as if completely unaffected by their presence.
"A fine young man. I wager it won’t even take you a thousand years to stand among our ranks."
The middle-aged man who had previously stopped the two from the Red Sun Sect praised him while stroking his long beard, looking every bit the part of a magnanimous elder.
"You flatter me, senior."
Yang Jing replied.
"Yang Jing, you should be able to guess why we’ve come," the child-like Divinity Transformation Cultivator, an impatient sort, said bluntly.
"If this junior is not mistaken, you seniors must be here for the Life-Extending Puppets."
Yang Jing answered.
"Well said! I like how straightforward you are," the Child said, slapping his hands together. "The six of us still have plenty of lifespan left, but it never hurts to prepare for a rainy day. We’d like to ask you to refine Life-Extending Puppets for us."
"Name your price. Whether it’s Divine Skills and Techniques, Celestial and Earthly Treasures, or wondrous Magical Treasures, we can give it to you."
With these six Divinity Transformation Cultivators working together, there was very little in the entire Nine Heavens World that they couldn’t find.
"I have traded with the senior from the Red Sun Sect before. My price is two Tier Four Flying Boats and three Tier Three Flying Boats, and for that, I will refine a Puppet for each of you seniors."
"Hmph! You brat, Yang Jing! You only charged Old Ghost Zhang of the Red Sun Sect one Tier Four Flying Boat and three Tier Three Flying Boats. How is it that when it comes to us, you’ve added another one!" an old woman said, opening her eyes.
"At the time of Senior Zhang’s deal, you seniors were not yet aware of the Life-Extending Puppet’s effects. Naturally, I had to set the price a bit lower. Now that you are all aware of what it can do, that price is no longer available."
Yang Jing said without the slightest bit of panic.
The old woman wanted to haggle further, but the other Divinity Transformation Cultivators stopped her.
"Fine. That’s the price."
