My CEO Husband Says I'm Irreplaceable

Chapter 141: Shiloh Sloan, We Need to Talk

Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Shiloh Sloan, We Need to Talk

"Nolan, you have to believe me! This video is a complete fake! What could Jason Rivers possibly know? If he were really so capable, he wouldn’t still be just a junior employee."

Her words were tantamount to crushing Jason Rivers’s dignity in front of everyone.

He shot to his feet, seething with rage.

"Summer, are you questioning my professional ability? You’re the one who did something filthy, yet you refuse to admit it. I have no respect for a bitch like you! Mr. Forrester, you absolutely must not be fooled by her fake act!"

"The evidence is staring you in the face, and you’re still trying to lie your way out of it. You really have no shame!"

"Shiloh Sloan, I was a fool. This woman had me fooled for years, and I misunderstood you for so long. I apologize!"

As Jason Rivers spoke, he gave her a deep, formal bow of apology, his attitude utterly sincere.

With him taking the lead, the people who had jumped on the bandwagon to criticize Shiloh Sloan also began to apologize one by one.

Shiloh Sloan’s lips curled into a sarcastic smirk, but she still feigned magnanimity. "I know you were all just deceived. It’s good that you see the truth now, so you don’t end up being led around like dogs on a leash, doing all the work and getting nothing but trouble for it."

Seeing the situation was lost, Summer desperately gripped Nolan Forrester’s arm as if it were her last lifeline.

Her eyes brimming with tears, she pleaded, "Nolan, you have to believe me. I’m the one who truly loves you. Shiloh Sloan just can’t stand to see us happy, so she deliberately chose the class reunion to ruin my reputation..."

Her original plan had been to publicly announce her and Nolan Forrester’s impending engagement today, watching as Shiloh Sloan was left humiliated, dejected, and utterly disgraced.

But she had never imagined that Shiloh Sloan would have proof, turning her into a public laughingstock and completely destroying her reputation.

Nolan Forrester’s expression was frosty. He ruthlessly pulled his arm from her grasp, his voice completely devoid of warmth.

"You deliberately plotted to harm someone and stir up trouble. Now that the evidence is irrefutable, you’re still trying to turn things around and blame the victim?"

"No, how can you believe her side of the story? We’ve been together for so long. Don’t you know what kind of person I am?"

"Even now, you’re still stubbornly unrepentant. You disgust me!"

He looked at the tear-streaked woman before him, feeling nothing but bone-deep revulsion.

"Summer, I’ve also brought the man in question here today," he said. "Let him confront you face-to-face."

Shiloh Sloan clapped her hands. The door to the private room was pushed open, and a man walked in.

When she got a clear look at the man, Summer stumbled backward, her eyes darting away.

The man walked straight up to her.

"Miss Summers, if I hadn’t been desperate for money back then, I never would have taken this job from you. I saw that the young lady was about the same age as my own daughter. I couldn’t bring myself to ruin her, so I never touched her."

"You’ve got the wrong person. I’ve never seen you before."

"My, how forgetful the great can be. It’s only been a few years, and you don’t recognize me anymore? By the way, you saw that video earlier, right? I was the one who provided it."

Back then, he had lost a fortune gambling. Beaten black and blue by debt collectors, he was in a miserable state. That was when Summer found him and asked if he wanted to make some money.

The loan sharks had given him a final deadline. If he couldn’t pay them back in three days, they were going to break both his hands.

With no other choice, he had to agree.

The next day, Summer arranged to meet him in a private room at a coffee shop. He arrived first and, being cautious, started a video recording on his phone ahead of time.

He was originally worried she might go back on her word and refuse to pay, so he wanted some evidence as insurance.

But to his surprise, Summer paid him without any hesitation.

So, the recording became useless and just stayed on his phone all this time.

Last month, while being pressed by debt collectors at his home, he spotted Shiloh Sloan and immediately recognized her.

He used the evidence in his possession to get that loan waived.

Summer’s pupils shrank. Her eyes flew wide, rage practically spilling from them.

"You treacherous piece of shit! You took my money and then dared to stab me in the back! You’re despicable and shameless!"

What she found even harder to accept was that he hadn’t even done what she’d paid him for—he hadn’t ruined Shiloh Sloan.

"You can’t blame me for that, Miss Summers. She’s about the same age as my daughter. Looking at her, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. So, let’s just say I’ve wronged you."

"I’ll kill you!"

Summer’s eyes were bloodshot. She shrieked and lunged, clawing and scratching at the man, punching and kicking wildly.

At first, the man just tried to dodge her attacks, but he grew increasingly impatient. Finally, having had enough, he forcefully shoved her away.

Losing her balance, Summer staggered back several steps from the shove. Her forehead slammed hard against the corner of a table. With a muffled grunt, her vision went black, and she crumpled to the floor.

Bright red blood trickled down her forehead. The man panicked. He started to step forward to help her up, but then seemed to think better of it and sheepishly pulled his hand back.

"Miss Sloan, can I go now?"

Shiloh Sloan nodded.

As if granted a pardon, the man fled without a backward glance.

Shiloh Sloan looked down at her. "Summer, you brought all of this on yourself. Now you get a taste of what it feels like to be helpless, alone, and infamous. What goes around, comes around. You always have to pay back what you owe."

With that, she took Vesper Grayson by the hand and walked out of the private room.

Nolan Forrester’s eyes darkened. He snatched his jacket from the back of his chair and hurried out after them.

Hearing footsteps behind them, Shiloh Sloan quickened her pace, pulling her friend along as if escaping a venomous snake.

"Shiloh Sloan!" Nolan Forrester blocked her path, his dark eyes locking onto hers, a complex mix of emotions swirling within them. "We need to talk."

"I have nothing to talk about with you!" Shiloh Sloan shot him a cold look, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Aren’t you afraid your girlfriend will get jealous if you chase after me like this, Mr. Forrester? That she’ll start scheming up new ways to frame me?"

Nolan Forrester’s throat worked. "I never thought of you like that. And I don’t like her."

"That’s your problem. You made your choice back then, so don’t you dare regret it now!"

She pulled Vesper Grayson with her, trying to get around him and to the car, but Nolan Forrester seemed determined not to let her leave and blocked her path again.

"There’s been a misunderstanding between us. I have to make things clear to you."

"What bullshit misunderstanding? Even if it was some colossal misunderstanding, I don’t want to hear it. Get the hell away from me."

A black Bentley pulled up beside them. The window rolled down partway, and Maxim Chandler said, "Miss Grayson, President Hawthorne is here to pick you up."

Vesper Grayson said in a low voice, "Shiloh, why don’t you hear what he has to say? If there’s a misunderstanding, it should be cleared up. Even if you don’t want to be friends later, you can at least be proper strangers."

Shiloh Sloan frowned but let go of her.

"You’d better have something useful to say, or else..." She rolled her wrists and gave a cold smile. ’She’d learned quite a few moves from Magnus lately and wouldn’t mind using them all on him.’

Nolan Forrester grabbed her wrist. "Come with me."

Watching their retreating figures, Vesper Grayson got into the car.

The man inside was dressed in a sharply tailored, dark, high-end suit. He was leaning back against the seat, his legs crossed elegantly. His posture was languid and casual, yet it couldn’t conceal the innate aristocratic air that was etched into his very being.

Jared Hawthorne gently took her hand. The pads of his thumbs began to slowly stroke her slender, soft fingers in a casual yet tender gesture.

"Finished so early? Did you have fun?"
