’Who? Who did she say she was?’
’Julian Sherman’s agent?’
Cecelia Archer had been worrying about how to find Julian Sherman, and now she’d actually met his agent!
"My name is Luna Linden. It’s a pleasure to meet you; I’ve heard so much about you. I’m a huge fan of Julian Sherman’s. I heard he was attending an event here today, so I came specifically to try and get his autograph. I never expected to meet you! It’s such an honor!"
’A fan of Julian’s?’ This girl was gorgeous, and her elegant outfit screamed money. She was clearly a wealthy heiress. Lena’s interest was instantly piqued.
"Is that so? What a coincidence! It’s like they say, birds of a feather flock together. This must be fate. Come on, I’ll take you to see Julian right now."
"Oh, and what happened today is a secret. Don’t you dare tell a soul."
In the next moment, the two of them also left the restroom.
Lena led her through the crowd, and it wasn’t long before they spotted Julian Sherman.
"Julian, over here!"
She waved in his direction. Cecelia followed her gaze and saw a tall, elegant man standing alone, holding a glass of wine. He seemed a little out of place.
’Isn’t that the guy from before? The one whose arm I was holding when I came in? The man with the sports car?’
’He’s Julian Sherman? No way, it can’t be.’
’I know what Julian Sherman looks like. He doesn’t look like this in his pictures online.’
As they spoke, Julian Sherman walked over, and Lena introduced Cecelia Archer to him.
Cecelia Archer’s eyes went wide.
"Lena, this is my first time seeing him in person. Why does he look so different from his photos and videos?"
Lena said, "That’s where our Julian loses out. He’s a perfect 100 in terms of handsomeness, but the camera only captures about a 90. He’s much more handsome in person than on screen, isn’t he? You’re not the only one; everyone says so."
"But you’re different, Luna Linden. Based on my years of industry experience, I can tell at a glance you have an extremely photogenic face. Even if you’re an 80 in real life, you’d be a 100 on camera. You’re the kind of person who was born for the lens."
Cecelia Archer was speechless.
’Is she laying it on this thick just because I helped her? All this praise is making me feel awkward.’
"Not at all, Lena. You’re too kind."
"I’m not just being kind. I genuinely think you’re a talent I want to sign."
As she spoke, she glanced at her watch.
"It’s not convenient to talk here. In any case, the banquet won’t be starting for a little while. Let’s go talk over there."
She took Julian Sherman’s arm with one hand and pulled Cecelia Archer along with the other, wanting to find a different place to discuss signing her.
But Cecelia Archer’s mind wasn’t on this. She was just being polite; her thoughts were consumed with Grace Sterling.
Just as she was about to show Julian Sherman the photo of Grace Sterling and ask if he had seen the girl, her gaze suddenly shifted. She noticed an intense stare from the crowd fixed in their direction.
The girl was dressed to the nines, her eyes sparkling with adoration. She looked so familiar—it was Grace Sterling!
"Wait, Lena. I came with a friend. She’s calling for me; let me bring her with us."
Cecelia Archer pulled her hand free from Lena’s, ran up to Grace Sterling, and yanked her over.
"This is my friend, Grace Sterling. She’s also a huge fan of Julian’s. Let her join us."
Grace Sterling had called in favors with several friends, gone through multiple channels, and spent over a hundred thousand just to get a ticket and sneak in here.
She hadn’t dared to approach Julian Sherman, thinking she would be satisfied just watching him from a distance all night. She never imagined that she would not only end up right in front of him but even get personally introduced!
She looked so happy she was about to faint, and Cecelia Archer quickly steadied her.
"I was sent by your dad. Don’t get overexcited. Just come with me."
’So she was sent by Dad!’
’Dad always tells me to stop chasing celebrities, but he actually went to all this trouble for me!’
’AHHH!’
Grace Sterling jumped up and down in excitement.
"Okay, okay, okay! Where are we going?"
Lena led them to a lounge.
"Miss Linden, are you considering my suggestion? Your looks are outstanding, and you’re a fan of Julian’s. If you come to our company, I can package you two as a ’couple.’ You’d get to follow your idol and build up your own fame at the same time. What’s not to love?"
Cecelia Archer had never imagined entering the entertainment industry one day. She wasn’t interested, but to maintain a good image in front of Grace Sterling and make the subsequent negotiation easier, she humored Lena for a while.
The event outside was about to officially start, so Lena and Julian Sherman left first, leaving her with contact information.
"Okay, well, give it some more thought. This is my number. Call me when you’ve decided."
Once they were the only two left in the room, Grace Sterling looked at Cecelia Archer, completely bewildered.
"Didn’t you say my dad sent you? Why does she want to sign you instead of me? You’re going to be marketed as a couple with Julian? Then where does that leave me? What kind of trick is my dad playing?"
Cecelia Archer told her, "The contract thing wasn’t arranged by your dad. I just helped Lena with a small problem, and I guess she wants to repay the favor."
Cecelia Archer gave her a brief, edited version of what happened in the restroom, and Grace Sterling suddenly understood.
"So what are you going to do now? Are you going to sign with her?"
"No! I don’t want you to be paired up with Julian! He’s my husband! If you’re in a publicity romance with him, I’ll die of sadness!"
Cecelia Archer seized the opportunity to lay out her terms.
"Whether or not I join his company is actually all up to you."
"If you go home quietly and listen to Mr. Grant, then I can keep my job, and I really don’t want to wade into the messy waters of the entertainment industry. Besides, I have a boyfriend, and I don’t want to be separated from him."
"But if you don’t cooperate, Mr. Grant will think I’m useless and fire me. Then I won’t be able to find a job, and I’ll have no money for food or rent..."
Grace Sterling hastily declared her position.
"I’ll go home! As long as you stay away from my husband, I’ll go home right now! Throw that business card away, and let’s go together!"
’I didn’t expect this to be resolved so smoothly. Does this mean I’ll be able to help Shane Grant raise that money soon?’
Cecelia Archer felt a surge of excitement. She tossed the business card and left the lounge with Grace Sterling.
But she never expected that as soon as they stepped out, she’d see Wyatt Wynn’s familiar face.
He was holding a wine glass, happily chatting with a beautiful woman, and facing their direction.
Cecelia Archer quickly grabbed Grace Sterling and spun them around.
"Is there a side door or a back door around here? We snuck in, so we’d better not use the front entrance."
Grace Sterling reluctantly craned her neck to look back, desperately searching for a glimpse of her "husband."
"But I want to see him one more time... I’ve waited over a month for tonight..."
"Are you going back on your word? In that case, I’m not leaving either. I’ll just go talk to Lena..."
Wyatt Wynn’s sharp eyes noticed two beautiful women with nice figures over in that direction.
Grace Sterling, terrified that Cecelia Archer would go hit on Julian Sherman, blurted out, "Hey, I never said I wasn’t leaving! Can’t I have one more look? The side door is this way, let’s go, let’s go!"
She turned the tables and started pushing Cecelia Archer toward the exit.
A profile flashed past, and Wyatt Wynn’s casual, appraising gaze suddenly hardened.
’Cecelia Archer?’
’That woman who just rushed past... why did she look so much like Cecelia Archer!’
