Chapter 169
"I gave you two choices... Leave or die. And you chose to throw your life away. You humans are really beyond foolish," the Beastman said those words before finally opening his eyes, which had remained closed all this while.
They opened slowly, and when they did, a pair of crimson, glowing slit eyes were revealed.
The moment the Sect Leader looked into those eyes, every hair on his body stood on end, and an immense sense of danger instantly washed over him... a danger so intense that his instincts screamed at him to retreat immediately.
Yet what amplified that fear even further was the fact that one of his most certain killing moves, Spatial Cleave (a powerful Sky-Grade Obsidian Technique that utilized one of the world’s deadliest and most powerful affinities, the Space Affinity, to deliver a sure-death blow), had been caught by this man.
And not just caught, the Beastman had taken it into his grasp as casually as if he were holding nothing more than a simple twig.
The terrifying spatial attack that had been powerful enough to tear apart space itself hadn’t even managed to ruffle his hair, it hadn’t wounded him, it hadn’t left a mark, and it hadn’t even pushed him backward.
If anything... it seemed that the attack had merely served to wake him from his meditation, and that might not be a good thing. All of these thoughts flashed through the Sect Lord’s mind in an instant as he tried to react, but he wasn’t fast enough. A deadly blow struck him head-on.
BOOM!
His body was sent flying through the air, the Sect Lord’s figure shooting backward like a cannonball as he was unable to control his body while the terrifying force carried him away.
Two of his most powerful elders immediately rushed forward and caught him, supporting his body before he could crash into the ground, and with their assistance, the Sect Lord managed to regain his footing. For a while, he simply stood there, calm and composed as if nothing had happened, then...
"Cough!"
Blood suddenly spilled from his mouth, and a few broken teeth were mixed within the blood he coughed out, revealing just how brutally wounded he had been from what appeared to be nothing more than a casual punch from the Beastman. And the most terrifying part?
The Beastman was still sitting there. He hadn’t even stood up, and he hadn’t moved from the boulder. His crimson eyes slowly swept across everyone who had surrounded him, with not the slightest trace of fear within them.
If anything, the Beastman looked at the hundreds of cultivators surrounding him as if they were nothing more than a mild inconvenience... something that wasn’t even worth getting serious about.
The Beastman shifted his gaze toward the Sect Leader, who was currently wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, and then he spoke.
His tone remained that same deep, rumbling voice, a voice that seemed to carry an indescribable weight, almost as if the world itself was speaking through him.
"I usually don’t give my prey a chance to escape."
His crimson eyes narrowed slightly.
"But I will give you all another chance. Within the next one minute, vanish from my sight... and I will spare your pathetic lives."
His voice became colder.
"You stay... and you die."
After saying those words, the Beastman closed his eyes once more, just like that, as if dealing with them was something far too beneath him and as if they were no longer worth his attention.
The eyes of the elders and the rest of the Red Dragon Sect members who had come to this place twitched when they heard the Beastman’s words. What did he mean by giving them a chance to survive?
He was only at the peak of the Golden Core Realm, just like their Sect Leader, just like the rest of their elders. They had fifty Golden Core cultivators on their side... fifty!... and there was only one of him, one single Beastman.
So who was supposed to be sparing whom? The situation was completely reversed, and the Beastman should be the one begging for his life, not them.
"Sect Leader, we shouldn’t waste any more time here. Let’s kill this Beast and cut off his head to give to the Imperials!" the elder with the high temper shouted as he unsheathed his own blade.
The weapon was long and sturdy, radiating an intimidating aura... a powerful great blade. There was no doubt that it was an extraordinary weapon, and the elder gripped it tightly as he prepared to dive into action.
The Sect Leader hesitated. For a brief moment, he didn’t move, because after all, from his earliest exchange with the Beastman, he could instantly tell that this man was far beyond an ordinary Golden Core cultivator.
The fact that he had been able to deal such massive damage to him with a single punch... a punch that didn’t even seem to contain his full strength... made the Sect Leader want to rethink the entire situation.
This Beastman seems to be far from normal. No, he took that thought back; the Beastman wasn’t normal, not at all, and he was insanely powerful. Even the Sect Leader himself had never encountered a Golden Core cultivator with such terrifying physical strength.
But he couldn’t allow himself to freak out. No, he hated even thinking like this. There were forty-nine Golden Core cultivators here apart from him... forty-nine! And not only that, there were more than two hundred Silver Core cultivators, while the rest were all Bronze Core cultivators.
None of them were weak. Every single person here was an elite member of the Red Dragon Sect, and the combined force of all of them... surely, it was impossible for them to lose against a single man.
Whether he carried the title of Beastman or not didn’t matter. If they were unable to take down a single man with such an overwhelming force, then the fearsome name of the Red Dragon Sect would be dragged through the mud, their reputation would be destroyed, and the entire continent would laugh at them.
And as the Sect Leader... he couldn’t stand back and watch that happen, he couldn’t allow one Beastman to make the Red Dragon Sect look weak, and he couldn’t allow fear to control him.
And so... he steeled his heart. They were going to take that Beastman’s head, no matter how powerful he was, no matter what kind of monster he truly was, because they had come here for his head, and they would leave with it.
At the exact moment the Sect Leader made that decision and completely steeled his resolve... the Beastman’s eyes suddenly snapped open once more. The Beastman looked at the humans with clear irritation in his crimson eyes.
"You humans are truly foolish creatures."
As he said that, he landed on the ground with a light thud. His gaze remained calm and composed, showing no hint of panic or fear whatsoever. If anything... he was calm, far too calm.
The Beastman slowly began walking right into the midst of the large group of Red Dragon Sect members, all of whom had already unsheathed their blades and were ready to battle things out with him.
He didn’t rush, he didn’t prepare himself for an attack, and he simply walked, step after step, until he stood calmly in the middle of the enormous group. His crimson eyes slowly swept across the faces of the Red Dragon Sect members surrounding him, looking at each and every one of them, and then he spoke.
"Just all of you?"
His tone was filled with disbelief.
"Sending a bunch of weaklings like yourselves to hunt me down..."
He paused.
"The Imperials seem to have grown two heads and are losing their senses, aren’t they?"
His gaze continued moving across the five hundred powerful cultivators surrounding him, with little to no interest in his eyes, as it was almost as if he wasn’t looking at five hundred cultivators at all, but instead at a group of insignificant ants that had gathered around him.
"Remember my face well."
His voice suddenly became colder.
"This is the face of the person who will be killing you all in cold blood."
The moment he said those words... his suppressed bestial aura was finally released.
BOOM!
If his suppressed aura alone was enough to make someone feel the terrifying grip of suffocation and powerlessness, then his completely unleashed aura was on an entirely different level... heavy, overwhelming, and totally unrestrained.
The moment it erupted, it spread outward in all directions like an invisible tsunami, the air itself seemed to become heavier, the surrounding trees trembled violently, the ground beneath their feet seemed to groan under the pressure, and the skin of every single warrior present began to crawl.
A deep feeling of fear started spreading through their minds, and their instincts screamed at them to run and get away from this monster. For a brief moment, some of them almost lost control of their bodies, yet they quickly forced themselves to calm down.
They weren’t going to flee like prey; they were the predators here, and they greatly outnumbered this man, not only outmatching him in terms of numbers but also in overall combat force.
The fact that they had hundreds of cultivators surrounding a single person was enough to bolster the confidence of the Red Dragon Sect members, so the apprehension they had felt from the Beastman’s terrifying aura quickly vanished.
They were five hundred powerful cultivators... what did they have to fear? The Beastman was only one person, one! They all turned their gazes toward the man, their weapons raised and their bodies ready to attack.
"Deploy the World Bind Formation now!"
The Sect Lord’s sharp voice rang throughout the forest. Immediately, the Red Dragon Sect members moved.
Half of the Silver Core Realm cultivators, alongside several Golden Core experts, quickly spread out and surrounded the Beastman, their positions forming a strange and intricate pattern as they moved around him while their Qi surged simultaneously. Then...
"World Bind Formation!"
The formation instantly activated. A terrifying binding force descended upon the Beastman, the space around him seemed to solidify, and his movements were instantly restricted as invisible forces locked him firmly in place.
He was immobilized, completely restrained, as if countless invisible chains had wrapped around his body and pinned him down... a chained prey waiting for nothing more than to be slaughtered.
The faces of the Red Dragon Sect members lit up instantly, their confidence soared, and their victory was certain. At least, that was what they believed, because after all, not even someone as powerful as their Sect Lord could easily escape from the World Bind Formation, and this Beastman... he had simply stood there and allowed himself to be caught.
That was his biggest mistake... his arrogance, his pride, his underestimation of them. Now... he would die.
The Sect Lord and the rest didn’t waste any more time, immediately beginning to charge their most powerful attacks. Qi surged, power gathered, and dozens upon dozens of terrifying attacks were unleashed simultaneously.
Sword lights, energy blasts, techniques, and killing moves... all of them were launched toward one single person, the Beastman.
The attacks tore through the air from every direction, carrying enough destructive force to turn an ordinary cultivator into nothing but dust, and just when those attacks were about to strike him... the Beastman’s crimson eyes finally showed an expression. But it wasn’t fear, it wasn’t panic, and it wasn’t even surprise; it was irritation and anger.
So weak.
The thought appeared in his mind. Why so weak...? Then... a dark red aura suddenly erupted from his body, spreading outward faster and faster until it suddenly transformed into something resembling an enormous maw.
The terrifying dark-red maw opened wide, and then... it swallowed every single attack coming toward him all at once, just like that.
The countless attacks that had been launched by the Red Dragon Sect were consumed as if they were nothing, with no explosion, no clash, and no resistance, as they simply vanished into the enormous dark-red maw.
