Chapter 186

Liyu couldn’t help the curse that escaped his mouth when he heard what the system had to say. "What in the actual hell..." Liyu cursed at the same time he barely dodged another of Haoran’s attacks.

Although he was fast enough to avoid taking the attack head-on, he wasn’t fast enough to escape it completely unscathed. The force of the attack grazed his body, and the impact was anything but subtle.

BOOM!

The violent force sent a jolt through his entire body, making him reel slightly in pain as he quickly created several meters of distance between himself and Haoran. Liyu’s expression became increasingly solemn. "Okay, let’s finalize this discussion."

He took a deep breath while his gaze remained locked on Haoran. "This damn freak is getting stronger every passing second over and over again. At the same time, his eyes... which were not supposed to heal themselves... are actually healing themselves as well. And in a few minutes, he will regain his sight." Liyu’s mouth twitched.

"Which means that my situation would immediately go from worse to worst."

And then there was the other problem. His transformation. It wasn’t merely continuing. It had actually sped up.

And soon, the transformation would be complete. Meaning that this dark-white state of his... whatever the hell it was... would reach its final stage. Liyu’s gaze twitched. No one needed to tell him what would happen after that. He already knew. He would be cooked. Completely and utterly cooked. "Isn’t it?"

The system remained silent for a brief moment before finally responding. "Host, I hate to say this, but the only way you might still be able to win this is to call and merge with your clones."

The system’s voice was unusually serious. "You should try merging with two of them. That could still give you a chance to salvage this before it gets completely out of hand."

Liyu’s gaze remained dark as he slowly shook his head. "No."

"Host, this is not the time to be stubborn." The system’s tone became slightly more urgent. "It’s either you do that, or you give up on this tournament. There is no other way for you to secure the victory."

Liyu remained silent for a while. He watched Haoran’s figure from a distance, his mind rapidly turning over the countless possibilities available to him. Then he shook his head once more. "That’s not it, Sys." His voice was calm. "I am not planning on not merging with them because I am afraid of losing."

The system went silent.

"It’s because they might be in danger." Liyu’s expression became even more serious. "If the three of them truly are in a danger that has the three enthralled... which I’m more than certain about at this point... then I can’t just call them here."

His clones were a part of him. They were deeply connected to him. And because of that connection, Liyu could faintly feel that the other two were in danger as well. He could sense it. Something was wrong.

And if he summoned and merged with two of them, leaving the third alone... that would be more than dire. The third clone might truly be destroyed. And if that happened, Liyu would lose a massive amount of potential.

No. He didn’t want that. His clones were not disposable pieces that he could simply sacrifice whenever the situation became difficult. They were him. And he was them. Besides, the Call skill could only be used at several-minute intervals, with only one clone being called within that time frame.

He couldn’t rely on it to save the third clone afterward. By the time the skill became available again, the third clone might already be dead.

No. He wasn’t going to rely on his clones for this one.

After all... there was something else he could still try. Something that might give him a chance to win this. The chance might be incredibly small. It might even be so small that anyone else would have already given up. But Liyu hadn’t lost hope. Not yet.

"Tell me, Sys..." Liyu’s eyes narrowed as he stared directly at Haoran. "How many minutes do I have left before this freak’s transformation is complete?"

The system remained silent for a while, as if it was carefully analyzing the situation and calculating the result. Several seconds passed. Then finally, the answer came. "Approximately five to fifteen minutes at most."

Liyu nodded slowly. "Alright, then." His gaze became sharp. "Then I just have to take him down before that happens." His fingers slowly curled into claws. "I would have to make sure that I take him down before his transformation is completed."

Liyu came to that conclusion almost instantly. There was no hesitation. No doubt. No fear. The moment he made his decision, his body moved.

BOOM!

Liyu launched himself right back into the fray. His figure shot through the air at top speed, and he threw forward an attack with every ounce of strength he could muster. At almost the exact same moment, Guan Haoran’s own fist shot forward toward him.

BOOM!

The two attacks collided head-on, and a terrifying bang rang outward, the impact causing the very air around them to tremble violently. The two started to clash once more. Was this their twentieth clash? Or perhaps even more? No one could tell anymore.

What the people watching could tell for sure, however, was the fact that the battle between the duo had lasted the longest. It had gone on for several hours, and throughout all those hours, the battle had remained thrilling, ecstatic, and completely filled with surprises.

Just when everyone thought they had figured out how the battle would proceed, something unexpected would happen and turn everything around once more.

And now, Liyu and Haoran were once again entangled in a deep brawl, their figures constantly flashing across the battle stage as the two fought with everything they had.

Or rather... it was Liyu who was fighting with everything he had. He knew exactly what was on the line, and he couldn’t afford to be careless. Not even for a single moment. If he made even one mistake, if he allowed Haoran to gain the slightest advantage, then he wouldn’t be able to survive for long.

So Liyu did the only thing he had never, ever tried to do before. He combined every aspect of himself and brought them all to their absolute height. Momentum. Perfect Efficiency. Eagle Eyes. Linear Blink. Camouflage. Origin Eyes.

Every single skill he possessed was being utilized to its fullest extent, and rather than using them individually, Liyu combined them together, allowing each ability to complement the others and cover their weaknesses.

But that wasn’t all. He combined those skills with his combat style. The combat style of a feral beast. A fighting style that was wild, savage, instinctive, and completely unrestrained.

Then he combined that with his mastery of Tai Chi, allowing the seemingly contradictory styles to work together in a way that only Liyu could accomplish. Feral brutality. Tai Chi’s fluidity. The precision of his skills.

The terrifying reflexes granted by his Hybrid Form. His enhanced physical abilities. His senses. His instincts. Everything. He brought all of it together. And then he pushed it even further. He brought his bloodlust to the absolute forefront.

There was no longer any restraint. No hesitation. No holding back. Every movement, every attack, every dodge, every shift of his body carried the terrifying intent of someone who was fighting not merely to win, but to survive.

With everything placed together and allowed to work in perfect tandem, Liyu achieved something that could only be described as him breaking his limit once more. Because that was exactly what he was doing. Breaking his limit, right there, right at that moment.

Right on that battlefield. Liyu was at his absolute best. He had never fought like this before. He had never combined everything he possessed in such a manner before. And with all of that, with every single ounce of power he could bring forth, he fought Guan Haoran.

For a while... it seemed to work. Liyu actually began to take the upper hand. His attacks started finding their marks, and although the wounds he inflicted on Haoran weren’t massive, they were there. Small. Subtle.

Barely noticeable compared to the monstrous body of Haoran. But they were still wounds. And to Liyu, that tiny progress was nothing short of good news. It meant that his attacks were finally having an effect. It meant that he could hurt the bastard. So he pressed on. Harder. Faster. More ruthlessly. He didn’t give Haoran even a moment to breathe.

But as the minutes passed, Liyu’s gaze gradually changed. The excitement that had briefly appeared within his eyes slowly disappeared. His expression became solemn. Because he realized something.

Or rather... he already knew this would happen. He had simply been hoping that it wouldn’t happen so soon. And yet, here it was. The thing he had been dreading. Haoran was adapting once more. And his power was once again increasing.

Over and over again. At first, Liyu had managed to suppress him. Then Haoran adjusted. Their positions became equal. Then Haoran adjusted again. And gradually... Liyu started becoming the one who was being suppressed.

His attacks that had once been landing with increasing frequency were becoming harder to connect. His movements that had once been difficult for Haoran to predict were becoming easier for the man to read. The advantage he had painstakingly created was disappearing right before his eyes.

And with every passing second, Haoran was becoming stronger. Faster. More precise. More familiar with Liyu’s fighting style. Until eventually, the situation had completely reversed once more.

"Damn it..." Liyu cursed through gritted teeth.

He tried to push harder. He increased his speed. He changed his rhythm. He altered his movements. He combined his skills in different ways. He pushed his body even further. And yet... nothing was working. No matter what he did, Haoran simply continued to adapt.

It was as though every advantage Liyu gained could only exist temporarily before Haoran found a way to erase it. Liyu’s eyes twitched violently. How the hell was he supposed to beat someone like this? He had already pushed himself to his absolute limit. No. He had gone beyond his limit.

And yet, this bastard was still adapting to him. Still growing stronger. Still becoming harder to defeat.

At the seat of the leaders, Li San watched Liyu struggle against Haoran with a faint frown on his face. There was a small look in his eyes that came dangerously close to pity. He knew. The moment Liyu had agreed to Elder Ting’s request earlier, he had made a big mistake.

After all, even without considering the others, Li San could feel that Guan Haoran and Shi Tian were far from being people who could be beaten or taken down easily. Of course, Liyu had more than tried.

He had fought Haoran with everything he had and, for a while, it had genuinely seemed as though he would win. In fact, he surely would have won if things had remained the way they were. But now... Li San slowly shook his head. His gaze shifted toward the dark figure of Haoran standing on the battlefield.

The white tattoos spreading across Haoran’s body were glowing more and more fiercely with every passing moment, their radiance becoming increasingly intense until they were beginning to become slightly blinding.

Li San’s expression turned solemn. "The kid has stepped into the legendary state of Overflow..." His voice was low, almost as if he was speaking only to himself. And with complete certainty, Li San could say one thing. Liyu couldn’t win this anymore. He wanted Liyu to win. He really did. But reality was simply too cruel.

There was no way Liyu would be able to win anymore. Not after Haoran’s transformation was so close to being completely completed. Not after he had already reached this terrifying state. Li San let out a heavy sigh. It seemed the Tournament of the Three Great Clans would be ending soon.

And the Li Clan... it seemed they had failed to escape defeat after all. "It is over..." Li San said under his breath, his gaze becoming slightly dim.

Back on the stage, Liyu was still exchanging moves with Haoran.

The two figures constantly clashed, their movements so fast that ordinary spectators could barely follow them. But then... Liyu suddenly sensed that something was terribly wrong. Before he could even react, a massive force slammed into him.

BOOM!

His body was sent skidding violently across the battle stage. The sturdy marble beneath him cracked and scraped beneath his body as he was dragged several meters before Liyu finally managed to regain his balance.

He immediately pushed himself up, dropping onto one knee as he gasped heavily for air. His chest rose and fell. His entire body was aching. His muscles screamed. His breathing was labored. He had truly given it his all. Every ounce of strength, every skill and every trick.

Every advantage he possessed. He had thrown everything he had into this battle. But... it wasn’t enough. And now, it seemed the bastard had finally completed his transformation.

Liyu slowly lifted his head. His gaze locked onto the blinding white light that currently engulfed Haoran at the center of the battle stage. His eyes twitched slightly. He didn’t say anything. He simply watched.

There was nothing else he could do at this moment. He watched as the transformation finally began to wrap up. The white light surrounding Haoran slowly receded. It faded little by little, revealing the figure standing within it. And finally, everyone could see what was happening. Or rather... what had happened.

Guan Haoran stood calmly in the center of the stage. His posture was composed. His expression was calm. His presence, however... was anything but calm. His short white hair had grown, transforming into medium-length white hair that framed his face.

And his body... his body radiated even more power than before. If his aura before had been domineering and suppressive, then what it had become now was on an entirely different level. Ten times worse? Twenty times worse?

Perhaps even more. Just standing near him had become oppressive. Liyu, who was relatively close to Haoran, suddenly found breathing to be slightly difficult. The air itself seemed heavier. Every breath felt as though he was inhaling something far denser than ordinary air.

This Haoran... he no longer seemed like a human. He looked like some kind of divine warrior that had descended into the mortal world. Pure World Qi surrounded his body. It appeared in the shape of white qi, which continuously coagulated around him before forming armor.

It wasn’t a complete set of armor covering his entire body. Instead, it was strange. The armor only covered certain parts of his body... his limbs, chest, and several other areas... while leaving other portions completely exposed. Yet somehow, that incomplete armor made him look even more imposing. More divine and more terrifying.

Then... Haoran’s eyes snapped open.

BOOM!

The aura surrounding him thickened once more. His eyes... they had been completely restored. Not only restored, but seemingly strengthened. Those blinding white eyes now brimmed with even greater power than before, and the moment they opened, Liyu felt an invisible pressure descend upon him. Guan Haoran’s transformation... was complete.

And at that exact same moment, Liyu received a system notification that made his already terrible mood sink even further.

Ding!

Thirty-minute mark has passed.

All temporary boosts obtained from the Surge Elixirs have faded.

Liyu suddenly felt it. The drop was significant. His physical strength plummeted. His speed decreased. His endurance weakened. His stamina fell.

The explosive power he had gained from the elixirs disappeared almost instantly, leaving behind a massive difference that Liyu could feel throughout every part of his body. His hand twitched.

"Damnation..." He cursed under his breath.

And at almost the same time, the system’s voice rang clearly inside his mind.

Host, I have only one word for you.

A brief pause.

Quit.
