My Cuckhold System

Chapter 337: Are You Alright?

Just as the skirt reached the point where another tug would bare everything, the office door exploded inward.

The boss jerked his head around in shock.

However, before he could react, an open palm slammed into his face with brutal force.

BAM!

The impact launched him backward, sending his body crashing through the large glass pane behind the desk.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!"

Shards of glass burst outward in a glittering spray as his scream echoed across the vicinity while he vanished from view, falling to the very bottom.

Silence dropped over the room except for the low whistle of wind through the broken window.

Liz stayed bent over the desk for a heartbeat longer with her face pressed to the wood and her hair spilling across the surface in tangled strands.

She pushed herself up slowly while her hands shook as she tried to fix her clothes.

The blouse had come partially unbuttoned during the struggle, revealing the lacy edge of her bra and the smooth curve of her cleavage while the skirt sat crooked on her hips.

She tugged at both with frantic movements, trying to restore some order while letting out shaky gasps.

West crouched in front of her while reaching one hand out to cup her face. His thumb brushed gently across her cheek. "Are you alright?"

Liz’s eyes remained wide with shock and lingering fear as her lips parted but no words came immediately.

The adrenaline still raced through her veins and the scent of his cologne mixed with the faint metallic tang of broken glass.

Tears glistened at the corners of her eyes but didn’t fall while she kept straightening her skirt.

The boss’s words echoed in her mind... the threats about her debt, her crippled fiancé, the long prison sentence he promised if she resisted...

Her fingers clutched the edge of the desk for support while her knuckles turned white.

Outside, distant city sounds filtered through the shattered window. Papers from the desk had scattered across the floor during the chaos.

A single high heel lay tipped on its side near the wall where the boss had been thrown.

Liz’s heart hammered against her ribs as she swallowed hard, trying to steady her breathing while West’s gaze held hers.

The office felt colder now with the broken glass letting in the morning breeze. Her thick thighs pressed together instinctively which was a protective gesture due to the boss’s groping hands.

The memory of his perverted lick along her neck made her skin crawl.

She closed her eyes briefly, focusing on the warmth of West’s palm against her face.

It grounded her, pulling her back from the edge of panic.

Her silky black cascading around her attractive face, had a few locks falling forward as she tilted her head.

The blouse gaped slightly at the neckline from the earlier struggle, exposing the smooth curve of her cleavage. She didn’t bother fixing it yet, still too overwhelmed by the sudden rescue.

Liz opened her mouth again to finally answer West’s earlier question. "I... I think so."

The words felt inadequate after everything that had just happened but her mind raced with two big questions: how had West known to come? And... what would happen to the boss now?

~ Previous Day ~

The moment Liz fled Shadow Reapers Headquarters the previous afternoon, West remained standing there with his eyes fixed on the road long after the taxi had disappeared.

He could tell that something wasn’t right...

It wasn’t simply that she’d changed her mind about the investment, it was the fear and guilt in her eyes.

The way she had destroyed the documents before running away...

It was the behavior of someone who couldn’t bring themselves to do something they had been pressured into.

West returned to his office after summoning Aria.

He proceeded to look down at the shredded papers scattered across his office floor. "...Aria."

"Yes?" Aria who had just stepped into the office, answered almost immediately.

West pointed toward the ruined documents. "Can we recover these?"

Aria adjusted her glasses before crouching beside the soaked pages. "It’ll take some time."

"I don’t care."

"I want to know exactly what she was trying to sell me."

---

Several hours later... Aria stood beside a large conference table.

The torn pages had been painstakingly pieced back together like an enormous puzzle.

Some sections were missing, but most of the proposal had been reconstructed.

West checked through the restored pages and frowned. "This already looks suspicious."

"It gets worse," Aria pressed a button on her tablet. "I’ve already contacted someone."

A middle-aged man entered the room carrying another folder.

He was one of the city’s veteran commercial property consultants whom Aria occasionally hired whenever Shadow Reapers required independent evaluations.

The man greeted them politely before taking the documents.

He spent nearly thirty minutes reading every page.

Occasionally he scoffed, sometimes he laughed but eventually... he closed the file.

"I wouldn’t touch this with someone else’s money."

West folded his arms. "That bad?"

"Worse," the consultant pointed toward an aerial photograph. "This land has environmental restrictions."

He proceeded to open another page. "The oil rig has been abandoned for years."

Then another. "The surrounding infrastructure is collapsing."

And then another. "The asking price..."

He shook his head. "...is absurd."

West asked calmly, "So whoever is selling this..."

"...is trying to scam the buyer?"

The consultant nodded without hesitation. "Absolutely."

"They’re looking for someone inexperienced."

"They’d make a fortune."

West thanked the man before seeing him out.

Once the office door closed... silence lingered.

Aria finally spoke. "I don’t believe Liz knowingly intended to deceive you."

West nodded. "Neither do I."

He walked toward the window. "If she wanted my money..."

"There were a hundred easier ways."

He remembered her heavy expression, her trembling hands... and how her smile wasn’t full.

"...She couldn’t even let me finish signing."

Aria crossed her arms. "So..."

"You think someone forced her?"

West slowly nodded. "Work."

"It has to be."

"She mentioned how difficult things have been financially."

"And she’s been caring for her fiancé for months."

He turned around. "I don’t think she came here because she wanted to."

"I think..."

"...she came because someone left her no choice."

His eyes narrowed. "And I’m going to find out who."
