My Cuckhold System

Chapter 338: I Owe You My Life Already

The following morning... West’s car stopped outside Liz’s apartment building.

He knocked gently and after a few moments he heard someone yell from inside. "I’m coming..."

After nearly three minutes, the door opened and Liz’s fiancé looked pleasantly surprised on wheelchair stationed at the entrance. "West?"

West smiled. "Morning."

"Sorry for dropping by unannounced."

"No, not at all."

"Come in."

West stepped inside and noticed how tidy the apartment looked. It was still quite astonishing how a working class woman like Liz was able to keep this up while also taking care of her crippled fiancée. She truly was a super woman.

However, West suddenly noticed something. "Liz isn’t home?"

Her fiancé shook his head. "She left for work about an hour ago."

West nodded slowly. "I thought as much. Was hoping to catch her before she left."

The man frowned. "Did something happen?"

West remained quiet for a moment, debating how much to reveal internally.

Eventually... he answered honestly. "I think Liz is in trouble."

The man’s smile disappeared. "...Trouble?"

West nodded. "I don’t know exactly what kind."

"But something happened yesterday."

"And judging by her reaction..."

"...someone’s putting a lot of pressure on her."

The man’s face paled. "I knew it."

"For the past week..."

"She hasn’t been herself."

"I kept asking."

"But she’d always say she was just tired."

He lowered his head. "I couldn’t even help."

West stepped closer. "I intend to."

The man immediately reached out, grabbing West’s hand tightly. "Please."

"If you can help her..."

"...please do."

"I owe you my life already."

"And if she’s carrying something alone..."

"...I can’t bear the thought of it."

West squeezed his hand reassuringly. "I’ll do everything I can."

"I just need one thing."

"What?"

"The name of the company."

"And the address."

---

Less than thirty minutes later... a luxurious black vehicle stopped outside a twenty-two storey commercial building.

~ Haden Groups ~

West looked up at the tall glass structure. "So this is where she’s been working."

The moment he stepped inside, the receptionist looked up to answer. "...Welcome to Haden—"

She stopped mid-sentence. "...West Einstein?"

Within seconds... people began looking over while whispering.

"Oh my God."

"It’s him."

"The Shadow Reapers leader."

"I watched his commercial yesterday."

"He actually looks even better in person."

Several people around hurried over and one nervously asked,

"Could we... get a picture?"

West laughed. "Maybe another time."

"I’m actually looking for someone."

"Who?"

"Liz."

Recognition immediately appeared on the receptionist’s face. "Oh."

"She works on the last floor."

West nodded and immediately stepped forward, reaching the elevator and punching in a number.

In less than a minute, he arrived at the last floor and the same scene that played out at the first floor, happened again.

He was crowded by workers who recognized him. They began to sing his praises and some asked for autographs and pictures but West simply declined asking for Liz.

"The boss called her to his office," a young red haired lady answered him.

"Do you know where?"

"Last office on the left."

"Thank you."

West followed the directions until he reached an enormous wooden office door.

Just as he was about to knock... his enhanced hearing caught something.

A muffled voice. "...Please..."

Another voice answered. "Just this once and you’re debt will be taken care of..."

West’s expression changed instantly and without another thought...

BANG!

The office doors burst inward and the boss instantly froze.

The sight before West was that of the a slightly obese man pressed himself again Liz who was pinned to the large desk.

It had only been a fraction of a second but something inside him snapped.

WHOOSH!

He simply moved and just as the manager turned to see who had interrupted, West’s hand was already swinging towards his face.

SLAP!

The impact exploded through the office, sending the manager’s entire body spinning violently before crashing straight through the window panes, shattering glass.

~ The Present ~

Liz’s knees suddenly gave way but before she could collapse completely, West caught her.

Her forehead rested against his chest as she struggled to steady her breathing.

His arms instinctively wrapped around her, holding her upright without squeezing too tightly.

"You’re safe now," he said softly. "You’ll be fine."

The familiar warmth of his embrace, coupled with the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, gradually slowed the frantic pounding in her own chest. The panic that had consumed her minutes ago began to loosen its grip.

Without another word, West slipped one arm beneath her knees and the other behind her back, lifting her effortlessly into a princess carry.

The commotion outside the executive office had already spread throughout the entire floor.

Employees stood frozen, some stared through shattered windows while others whispered in disbelief.

However, nobody dared approach or question him.

Everyone had witnessed their boss being sent hurtling through the reinforced glass with a single slap from the top of the twenty-two storey building, straight to the bottom

Whether the man was dead or unconscious wasn’t even occupying West’s thoughts.

Right now... the only thing that mattered to him was the trembling woman in his arms.

Since West was an awakened, no one possessed the courage or the foolishness to stand in his path.

...

...

Nearly forty minutes later, Liz found herself inside West’s apartment.

The atmosphere couldn’t have been more different.

Soft instrumental music drifted gently through the living room while the lights had been dimmed slightly and the curtains were half drawn.

West handed her a glass of cold water before sitting it on the coffee table within reach.

"You don’t have to say anything."

"Just rest."

She nodded faintly and he gave her space, sitting several feet away on another sofa.

For a long while... neither of them spoke.

Only the quiet melody filling the room accompanied the silence.

Eventually... a tiny voice escaped Liz’s lips. "...Thank you."

West looked over and smiled gently. "It’s fine."

After a few minutes, West asked again. "Are you okay?"

She wanted to answer yes... she truly did... but the word refused to leave her lips.

Instead... her vision blurred and she didn’t know when warm tears began rolling down her cheeks.

She slowly shook her head. "No..."
