The twelve Cultivators Wen Yuan generated with her ’Sowing Beans to Create Soldiers’ spell maintained a specific formation while attacking Luo Feng. They themselves formed the Sealing Array.
As Wen Yuan and her two doppelgangers finished the Spell, streaks of gray-gold light that resonated with the world itself appeared before the twelve Cultivators, who shared Wen Yuan’s cultivation level. The light formed a transparent barrier, attempting to seal Luo Feng completely inside.
Luo Feng had realized something was wrong long ago, but the twelve Cultivators fought with complete abandon. He sliced four of them in half, yet their remaining torsos continued to cast spells and block his path.
He tried to use his Scholar’s Sword to slip into a spatial rift, but discovered that space itself was locked down. It was as if the space within the sealed region was being controlled by Wen Yuan’s Primordial Spirit Consciousness.
Once the Sealing Barrier was fully formed, Wen Yuan’s true body let out a long breath. She swallowed several True Essence Pills from her storage bag and recalled her two doppelgangers. Simultaneously, the twelve Cultivators from her spell reverted to crystals, settling into the twelve cardinal points of the Sealing Barrier.
"Are you alright, Fellow Daoist?" one of the Lishui Prefecture cultivators asked.
"I’m fine, just overexerted." Wen Yuan’s right hand maintained a hand seal for a spell. After glancing around at the battlefield, she ordered, "Hurry and support Fellow Daoist Xin Shi!"
The two cultivators acknowledged her order and looked toward Xin Shi. Flames shot to the sky in that direction, burning and distorting space itself. Countless Spiritual Creatures screamed in the Inspiration Realm. Relying on the Red Jade Ruler in her hand—designation ’Yi-Shang-09’—Xin Shi was barely holding on against the combined assault of Ke Yue and Feng Dan. But she was suffering as well; after all, the artifact had its drawbacks.
The two Lishui Prefecture cultivators exchanged a glance. One prepared to go support Xin Shi, while the other decided to keep watch on their surroundings. After all, the Sun Sect and the First Sect were still lurking nearby.
BZZZT—
A buzzing, like a bee in flight, suddenly rang in their ears. They then felt the surrounding space begin to tremble slightly, realizing the abrupt buzzing was caused by the vibrations.
PFFT!
Just as the two realized something was wrong, a sharp ray of light pierced Wen Yuan’s physical body, running through her Qi Sea. Inside it, a dazzling Golden Core teetered precariously. It began to spin rapidly, forming a gray-gold Energy Vortex in her now-empty abdominal cavity to fill the gaping hole in her stomach.
"You..."
Wen Yuan clutched her abdomen, blood flecked with threads of gold seeping between her fingers. Her other hand tried to form a hand seal for a spell, but before she could complete the first gesture, a large, pale hand seized her wrist.
It was Luo Feng.
His skin had turned a sickly white, and he emanated a black halo visible to the naked eye.
"The Scholar’s Sword can also be a Demon Sword. Are you ready to meet your fate?"
Luo Feng’s tone was frigid. The once-pristine Scholar’s Sword in his hand now had a pitch-black blade, and it radiated a piercing killing intent.
Feeling Luo Feng’s aura at such close range, Wen Yuan finally realized the person before her was merely a consciousness inhabiting a sword. His flesh and blood were nothing but an instinctual manifestation of that consciousness!
"Monster!"
Wen Yuan spat out the word.
A flicker of emotion crossed Luo Feng’s cold gaze; he seemed to take great offense at that word. With a light slash of his Longsword, he created an invisible wave of energy. As the wave tore through the air, space itself showed signs of fracturing, frightening the two advancing Lishui Prefecture cultivators into a hasty retreat.
BOOM!
The energy wave struck the ground, leaving a clean slice in the earth.
Luo Feng paid no attention to where his blade had struck. His eyes were fixed solely on Wen Yuan. He raised his Longsword again, and just as he was about to end her life, Ke Yue’s voice called out, "Senior Brother Luo Feng, you’re wielding the Scholar’s Sword! A gentleman does not slaughter the weak!"
HUMMM—
The pitch-black blade stopped beside Wen Yuan’s abdomen. The sword quickly reverted to its former pristine state, and Luo Feng’s appearance changed along with it. He looked up at Wen Yuan’s Primordial Spirit, then casually flung her aside by the wrist he was gripping.
From that single flick, Wen Yuan’s body felt as if it had taken a heavy blow, and she plummeted rapidly toward True Yang Mountain.
"Are you still going to stop me?"
Luo Feng’s gaze fell upon the two Lishui Prefecture cultivators who had dodged the energy wave.
His gaze made the Primordial Spirits of the two Lishui Prefecture cultivators tremble, and they dared not make another move. They had been fighting Luo Feng from the beginning; they knew all too well how terrifying he was.
Luo Feng’s indifferent gaze swept elsewhere. The distant battle between the Sun Sect and the First Sect had already ceased the moment his fight with Wen Yuan was decided. The few remaining First Sect cultivators had vanished. Only far in the distance could the sounds of Wen Yang and Ruan Chunzi still fighting them be heard.
Xin Shi also retreated at this moment. Her entire body was covered in festering burns—likely the price for using the Red Jade Ruler.
"Junior Sister, why are you so stubborn? True Yang Mountain has been abandoned. This is a lost cause."
Feng Dan’s voice boomed.
Xin Shi had not yet recovered. As Feng Dan’s words faded, she transformed into a streak of light and shot down toward the main peak of True Yang Mountain. The Scholar’s Sword in Luo Feng’s hand immediately gave chase.
CLANG!
A ray of golden light shot out from True Yang Mountain’s main peak, easily parrying the blow.
It was the Gold Cultivator.
He was the last of the seven Cultivators left guarding True Yang Mountain.
After blocking the attack, he and Xin Shi flew deep into True Yang Mountain. Then, Wen Yang and Ruan Chunzi returned to the mountain from another direction.
Next, the two Lishui Prefecture cultivators and the two Court Cultivators who had been held in reserve also flew deep into True Yang Mountain.
Luo Feng, however, did not attack again. He simply watched in silence until a fiery red barrier appeared, completely enveloping True Yang Mountain.
"How long has it been since True Yang Mountain’s barrier was last used?" As Ke Yue spoke, the distorted half of her Spiritual Body slowly stabilized. She looked toward the Sun Sect cultivators as she asked.
"This barrier has never been used, not once since it was erected!" Feng Dan sighed.
"Are you lamenting that?"
"No. I can’t wait... I can’t wait to shatter it!"
As they spoke, the pair moved closer to Luo Feng. The conjoined male and female cultivators, who had been fighting the Sun Sect from a distance, also approached.
"The time isn’t right yet. We’re in no hurry." Luo Feng sat down cross-legged in mid-air, apparently content to wait until the end of the tenth month. The nearby First Sect and Sun Sect members seemed to have the same intention.
"Chang Jing’s death was strange, and very sudden. Whose scheme was that?" Feng Dan asked, glancing at the nearby members of the First Sect.
"The First Sect hasn’t set foot in Zhongzhou for years," Ke Yue said, looking south of True Yang Mountain. "If even we couldn’t do it, they have no chance. Don’t forget," she reminded him, "there’s still one heavyweight guest at this grand feast who has yet to take the stage."
"Qianmu Temple... Changqing?"
"Exactly."
"You think that highly of him?"
"His schemes hold the moral high ground. As long as he survives the Xiao Shan Lord’s promotion ceremony, he is guaranteed a place in Zhongzhou."
