Teck’s warning changed the mood instantly. A few seconds earlier, Kaien had been celebrating Drako’s first major tournament loss like he had personally won the championship. Now everyone stared at the holographic map floating above Teck’s wrist. A red signal pulsed beneath Astra Academy, directly below the ancient ruins. UNAUTHORIZED ENERGY SIGNATURE DETECTED. MOVEMENT CONFIRMED. Drako looked at Teck. “Please tell me that’s one of your machines doing something stupid.” Teck shook his head. “My machines don’t do stupid things.” Adrian raised his hand. “One attacked us yesterday.” “That machine had been compromised.” “Still one of your machines.” Teck stared at him. “I’m beginning to understand why people hit you.” Adrian smiled. “You like me.” “Undetermined.” Kaien stepped closer to the hologram. “How deep?” Teck expanded the map. “Approximately four hundred meters beneath the ruins.” Ruben Blade crossed his arms. “That’s deeper than the chamber we explored.” Drako’s expression became serious. “That’s where I sensed something before.” Mira looked at him. “The thing behind the sealed door?” “No. Deeper.” Fade stood silently beside them, one hand resting on his sword. Despite being blind, his head slowly turned toward the eastern side of the academy. “I can feel it.” Drako looked at him. “From here?” Fade nodded. “Something is disturbing the energy underground.” Kaien smiled and Phoenix flames appeared around his fingers. “So we’re going?” Mira immediately answered, “No.” Kaien looked offended. “Why not?” “Because we’re students.” Drako nodded. “She’s right.” Everyone looked at him. Drako frowned. “Why are you all looking at me like that?” Adrian laughed. “Because normally you’re the first idiot walking toward danger.” “Character development.” Ruben smiled. “That lasted twenty-three episodes.” Drako pointed at him. “Nobody asked you.”
Teck transmitted the warning to academy security. Within minutes, instructors began closing the eastern training grounds. Tournament matches were temporarily suspended, and students were ordered back toward the central academy buildings. The headmaster appeared across every screen. “An energy disturbance has been detected beneath academy territory. There is currently no confirmed threat. Students are to remain inside designated safe areas until further notice.” Drako watched instructors move toward the ruins carrying equipment far beyond what students normally used. He noticed several pieces of high-tier armor among them, though nothing close to the legendary Demon-Tier equipment owned by the Great Families. This was serious, but not yet a catastrophe. That distinction mattered. Drako wasn’t ready for Demon-Tier enemies, and Astra Academy wasn’t foolish enough to send students against one. Mira touched the pendant the mysterious woman had given her. “Do you think this has something to do with the Azunakkii?” Adrian immediately lowered his voice. “We agreed not to say that name where people can hear.” Kaien looked between them. “You keep saying Azunakkii like I’m supposed to know what it means.” Silence. Kaien frowned. “You’re all terrible at keeping secrets.” Drako looked at him. “Welcome to the group.” “I’m not part of your group.” Ruben smiled. “You train with us, eat with us, follow us into danger, and celebrate when Drako loses.” “That last part is different.” Drako put an arm around Kaien’s shoulder. “He loves us.” Kaien shoved him away. “Touch me again and I’ll burn your eyebrows off.” Drako covered them protectively. “Not the eyebrows. They’re one of my best features.”
A powerful vibration suddenly moved through the ground. Everyone stopped joking. Windows rattled. The academy lights flickered. Drako’s Dragon Sense activated automatically. Something ancient moved beneath them—not physically like a creature walking, but like an enormous pulse traveling through underground energy channels. His System appeared. [Ancient bloodline resonance detected.] [Draconic response detected.] [Vampiric response detected.] [Source distance: 417 meters.] Drako’s heartbeat increased. Both bloodlines were reacting simultaneously. “It knows I’m here.” Mira stared at him. “What?” “Whatever is beneath the ruins. My Dragon and Vampire sides are both reacting to it.” Fade tilted his head toward Drako. “Your energy changed.” Drako looked at him. “You can sense that too?” “You’re not subtle.” Kaien laughed. “Finally, somebody said it.” Another vibration traveled through the academy. This time Drako’s vision flashed. For half a second, he wasn’t standing with his friends anymore.
He saw a battlefield.
The sky was crimson. Thousands of warriors fought beneath enormous burning ships. Dragons crossed the sky while pale warriors with crimson eyes moved across the ground. Human soldiers fought beside both of them. Then something descended from above—a tall armored figure with four arms and glowing violet markings. Behind it came thousands more. Drako heard a word spoken by countless voices.
Azunakkii.
Then the vision disappeared.
Drako stumbled. Ruben caught his shoulder. “Drako?” Blood ran slowly from Drako’s nose. Kaien’s joking expression vanished. “What happened?” Drako wiped the blood away. “I saw something.” Teck immediately raised a scanner toward him. “Your energy increased by thirty-two percent for approximately one second.” “Could you stop scanning me every time something weird happens?” “Stop doing weird things.” Adrian nodded. “He has a point.” Drako sighed. “I saw a war. Humans, Dragons, Vampires…and something else.” Mira’s face changed. “Azunakkii?” Drako nodded.

Fade stepped closer. “Describe them.” Drako told them about the four-armed warrior and violet markings. Fade became completely still. Drako noticed. “You know something.” Fade’s hand tightened around his sword. “Not enough.” “That’s the favorite answer in this group.” Fade ignored the joke. “My teacher once described creatures matching that appearance. He told me never to repeat what he said.” Ruben looked at him. “Why?” Fade’s voice lowered. “Because people who investigated the old war disappeared.” Adrian immediately stopped smiling. That matched the deleted records he had discovered. Someone hadn’t merely forgotten the Azunakkii. Someone had deliberately buried their existence.
An explosion echoed from the eastern side of campus. Smoke rose above the forest. Academy alarms activated. [SECURITY ALERT.] [EASTERN RUINS SEALED.] [ALL STUDENTS REMAIN IN SAFE AREAS.] Kaien looked toward the smoke. “That sounded bad.” Drako nodded. “Very scientific observation.” “Want me to make another observation with fire?” “See? This is why we keep you around.” “You don’t keep me anywhere.” “Still denying he’s in the group,” Ruben said. Even Mira smiled despite the situation.
Several instructors suddenly ran past them carrying an injured researcher. His armor was damaged and blood covered one side of his face. Drako’s Blood Sense detected an irregular heartbeat. Before the instructors passed, the researcher grabbed Drako’s arm. Everyone reacted. Dragon Scales appeared instinctively across Drako’s skin. Kaien’s flames ignited. Fade’s sword left its sheath halfway. The injured man stared directly into Drako’s eyes. “The door,” he whispered. Drako froze. “What door?” “It opened.” Drako already knew which one. The sealed stone doorway beneath the ruins—the one displaying the warrior with one golden eye and one crimson eye. “What was behind it?” The researcher’s expression filled with fear. “Nothing.” Drako frowned. “Nothing?” “A staircase.” The instructors pulled him away. “Where did it lead?” Drako called. The researcher looked back. “Down.”
Teck immediately checked his underground map. “That explains the depth change.” Adrian leaned closer. “The chamber wasn’t the bottom of the ruins.” “Not even close,” Teck answered. New underground readings appeared one after another. The ruins extended far deeper than academy researchers had believed. One level. Two. Five. Ten. The scan eventually failed before reaching the bottom. Teck’s usual calm expression disappeared. “That structure could be kilometers deep.” Drako stared toward the eastern forest. Something had opened a path that had remained sealed for an unknown amount of time, and it happened after his dual bloodlines awakened.
The headmaster suddenly appeared in front of them with four senior instructors. His expression told Drako they were in trouble. “Why are you still outside?” Drako pointed at Kaien. “He wanted to go toward the explosion.” Kaien’s mouth fell open. “You lying—” The headmaster raised one hand. Everyone stopped. “Safe zone. Now.” Drako became serious. “Headmaster, the door reacted to me before.” “I know.” “Then whatever opened it might be connected to my bloodlines.” The headmaster studied him. “Which is exactly why you are not going underground.” Drako wanted to argue, but he knew the man was right. “Fine.” Kaien stared at him. “That’s twice today you’ve been responsible. I don’t like it.” “Growth.”
As they headed toward the safe zone, Drako felt another pulse beneath his feet. This one was weaker. His System appeared again. [Hidden Main Quest Updated.] [Ancient Bloodline Ruins.] [Requirement: Host Level insufficient.] [Recommended minimum progression before descent: Unknown.] [WARNING: Premature exploration carries extreme mortality risk.] Drako stopped. For once, the System wasn’t tempting him forward. It was warning him away. That told him everything he needed to know. “We’re definitely not going down there yet.” Ruben raised an eyebrow. “Who are you and what did you do with Drako?” “I prefer being alive.” Kaien laughed. “Debatable.”
Then one final notification appeared.

[The First Azunakkii War.]
[Additional requirement for restoration: Ancient Blood Memory.]
Drako stared at the words. The ruins weren’t simply connected to his ancestors. Somewhere beneath Astra Academy was a record of the original war—possibly one untouched by whoever had erased humanity’s history.
But Drako wasn’t strong enough to reach it.
Not yet.
He looked around at Mira, Adrian, Ruben Veyrox, Teck, Kaien, and Fade the swordsman Master. Every one of them carried secrets connected to a world much larger than their academy. Somehow their paths were beginning to cross around the same mysteries.
Drako smiled. “You know what the worst part is?”
Mira sighed. “What?”
“The tournament got suspended right after Fade beat me. Now everybody has extra time to talk about it.”
Kaien burst out laughing.
Fade calmly walked ahead. “I can beat you again if that helps.”
Drako stared after him. “See? The blind guy is getting jokes now. You people are terrible influences.”
Their laughter followed them toward the safe zone while, hundreds of meters beneath their feet, something moved through the newly opened staircase.
Something alive.
And this time, it was moving upward.
