My DragonicVampiric System

The morning arrived faster than Drako expected.

He woke before sunrise, but instead of immediately getting out of bed, he stared at the ceiling and thought about the fight ahead. Kael was Level 3, while Drako was still officially Level 1.

Under normal circumstances, there shouldn’t have been any competition between them. A Level 3 warrior possessed greater physical strength, more energy, better control, and more combat experience.

But Drako wasn’t normal anymore. He had the Draconic Vampire System, and every day since his awakening, he had been discovering something new about himself.

Still, he knew better than to become arrogant. His powers were strong, but they were also unstable.

One mistake could expose his secret or leave him seriously injured.

The System appeared. [Current Status.] [Level: 1.] [Experience Progress: 42%.] [Dragon Bloodline: 0.1%.] [Vampire Bloodline: 0.1%.] [Dragon Scales: Basic.] [Dragon Strength: Basic.] [Blood Sense: Improved.] [Blood Enhancement: Basic.] Drako looked at the screen. “Today I’m going to find out how strong I really am.” [Warning: Opponent possesses a higher energy level.] “I know.” [Recommended strategy: Avoid prolonged confrontation.] Drako smiled.

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

He got dressed and headed toward Training Arena Three. By the time he arrived, a crowd of students had already gathered. Kael stood in the center of the arena, wearing the academy’s standard training uniform.

He looked relaxed, almost as if he were waiting for something easy. When Drako entered, Kael smiled. “You came.” “I said I would.” Kael nodded. “Good.” Mira, Adrian, and Raizen were standing near the edge of the arena.

Mira looked concerned. “Are you sure about this?” Drako nodded. “I need to know where I stand.” Adrian adjusted the device on his wrist. “Technically, you’re at a huge disadvantage.” Drako looked at him. “Thanks for the encouragement.”

Adrian laughed. “I’m just telling you the numbers.” Raizen remained quiet. His eyes were focused on Drako. He seemed to understand that Drako wasn’t entering the arena simply to prove himself. He wanted to test something.

The instructor entered the arena and raised one hand. “This will be a controlled sparring match. No lethal attacks. The fight ends when one participant is unable to continue or when I stop it.” Kael nodded. Drako nodded as well.

The instructor stepped back. “Begin.” Kael disappeared forward. Drako barely had time to react. Blood Sense activated automatically. He sensed Kael’s movement a fraction of a second before the attack arrived.

Drako moved his head aside. Kael’s fist passed beside his face. Drako countered with a punch toward Kael’s ribs. Kael blocked it with his arm. The impact forced him to step backward. His eyes widened slightly. “Interesting.”

Drako didn’t answer. He activated Dragon Strength for a brief moment and charged. Kael blocked another punch, then delivered a kick. Drako jumped backward.

The kick struck the ground where he had been standing. The arena floor cracked. Drako’s eyes narrowed. “He’s strong.” Kael rushed again.

Drako activated Blood Sense and watched his opponent’s body. He could sense every movement, but Kael was fast enough to make prediction difficult.

Drako dodged one punch, blocked another, and barely avoided a spinning kick. Then Kael struck him in the chest.

Drako flew backward and rolled across the ground. Pain spread through his body. The crowd reacted immediately.

“That’s it!” someone shouted. Drako pushed himself up. His chest hurt, but nothing was broken.

He activated Dragon Scales. Golden scales appeared across his arms and chest. Several students gasped. “What ability is that?” Kael stared at the scales. “So you’ve been hiding something.”

Drako didn’t respond. He charged again. Kael attacked. Their fists collided. BOOM! Drako was pushed backward, but this time he remained standing. Kael looked surprised. “Your defense increased.”

Drako smiled. “I learned something.” He activated Blood Enhancement. Crimson energy flowed through his body.

Everything became faster. His heartbeat increased, his vision sharpened, and Kael’s movements appeared slightly slower. Drako moved.

He dodged the next attack and struck Kael across the shoulder. Kael stumbled.

The crowd became louder. “He hit Kael!” “How is a Level 1 doing that?” Kael regained his balance and smiled. “Now I’m interested.” His energy surged.

Drako immediately felt the difference. Kael had been holding back. A blue aura surrounded him. “Energy Release,” Kael said. He moved faster than before.

Drako activated Blood Sense, but Kael’s speed pushed him to his limit. A punch struck Drako’s stomach. He doubled over. Another strike hit his shoulder.

He fell to one knee. The System appeared. [Warning.] [Blood Enhancement nearing safe limit.] Drako breathed heavily. He couldn’t keep using it. If he continued, he would lose control of his body. Kael approached.

“You can stop.” Drako slowly stood. “Not yet.” Kael frowned. “Why?” Drako looked at his hands. He had been weak his entire life. Every time someone stronger appeared, he had been forced to accept that he couldn’t compete. But that was before.

He didn’t need to win today. He only needed to discover his limits. “Because I haven’t learned everything yet.” Golden energy appeared around his right arm.

Crimson energy appeared around his left. The crowd became silent. The two energies moved toward each other.

Drako felt the familiar pain. The System flashed. [Dual Bloodline Synchronization attempt.] [Current synchronization limit: 3 seconds.] Drako gritted his teeth. “Just three seconds…” Kael charged. Drako waited. At the last possible moment, he activated Blood Sense. Kael’s fist came toward his face.

Drako moved aside.

Golden energy strengthened his arm while crimson energy increased his speed.

He countered. His fist struck Kael’s ribs. Kael was thrown backward several meters. He landed on his feet but looked shocked. The instructor’s eyes widened. Drako had never been able to combine his powers for that long before.

The System appeared. [Synchronization successful.] [Duration: 3.2 seconds.] [Dragon and Vampire energies temporarily cooperating.]

Drako felt incredible power running through his body. But the feeling lasted only a moment. The energies separated.

Pain shot through his chest, and he dropped to one knee. Kael rushed toward him. Drako tried to stand, but his body was exhausted.

Kael stopped his attack before it reached him. The instructor stepped between them. “Enough.” Silence filled the arena. Kael looked at Drako for several seconds before extending his hand.

“You lost.” Drako accepted it. “I know.” Kael smiled. “But you’re the strongest Level 1 I’ve ever fought.” Drako stood with difficulty. “I’ll beat you next time.” Kael laughed. “I’ll be waiting.”

The students began leaving the arena while talking excitedly about the fight. Mira immediately approached Drako. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah. Just tired.” Adrian checked his readings.

“Your energy spiked during those three seconds.” Drako looked at him. “How much?”

Adrian shook his head. “I don’t know. Your readings were all over the place.” Raizen looked at Drako. “You learned something.” Drako nodded. “I did.” The fight had taught him several things.

Blood Sense could predict attacks, but his body needed to be fast enough to respond. Dragon Scales could protect him, but only if activated in time. Blood Enhancement was powerful but drained him quickly.

Most importantly, his Dragon and Vampire energies could cooperate, even if only for a few seconds. Later that evening, Drako returned to his room.

The System appeared. [Combat Quest Complete.] [Opponent defeated: No.] [Performance evaluation: High.] [Experience acquired: Significant.] [Experience Progress: 42% → 71%.] Drako stared at the number. “Seventy-one percent.” [Correct.] “So I’m close to Level 2.” [Affirmative.] Drako smiled.

He sat on his bed and closed his eyes. He could still feel the two energies inside him. They were different.

The Dragon energy felt powerful and aggressive, while the Vampire energy felt cold, precise, and controlled. Somehow, they were both part of him now. Then the System suddenly displayed another message. [Hidden condition detected.] [Dual Bloodline synchronization has attracted external attention.] Drako opened his eyes.

“Again?” [Affirmative.] [Unknown energy signature detected outside academy perimeter.] Drako stood and walked toward the window. He activated Blood Sense. At first, he sensed nothing.

Then he detected it. A heartbeat. Slow. Familiar. The same presence he had sensed in the forest. But this time, it was closer. Much closer. Drako stared into the darkness. Two faint red eyes appeared beyond the academy wall for less than a second. Then they vanished.

He didn’t move. The System appeared one final time. [Warning.] [Host is being observed.] Drako clenched his fist. The battle with Kael had shown him that he still had a long way to go. But tonight, he understood something else.

The academy wasn’t as safe as he had believed. Someone—or something—was watching him. And whatever was hiding outside those walls had been waiting for his power to awaken.

Drako looked at the darkness and whispered, “Come when you’re ready.” He didn’t know what would happen next.

But he was no longer the powerless boy who had entered the forest days ago. He was getting stronger. And his journey had only just begun.
