My Farming Domain Is Broken

Chapter 62. The First Level 3 Lord

The shout travelled throughout the road and many people opened their ranking panels at the same time.

Carlos saw their eyes move toward his name before looking at his face. After confirming it, some of the Lords started coming closer.

They still kept a distance from Brann and Kaia, but the questions came right away.

"Mr. Carlos, what barrack did that giant beast come from?"

"How did you bring four troops?"

"Can I join your Expedition Group? Pleassseeeeee"

"How did you reach Level 3 this fast?"

Carlos looked at the people surrounding him and knew what was happening.

All of them had survived until now but most only had one troop. Even having two troops was rare in the hundreds of people he could see right now.

Carlos also got a better look at the troops coming closer with them.

One Lord had two Grey Wolfmen wearing the same leather armor and holding short swords. Another had a single Stone Dwarf with a hammer almost as big as its body.

Carlos looked at the dwarf for a few more seconds. It didn’t look like a proper combat troop and the hammer seemed more useful for construction. Maybe that Lord had a Production Domain but still brought his only troop here.

There were two Goblin Archers behind a nervous-looking Lord and a tall Skeleton Guard beside another. Carlos had read about Undead barracks in class but this was the first time he was seeing a real skeleton moving in front of him.

"That is creepy..." Carlos muttered before looking away from its empty eyes.

One suddenly moved beside his feet.

A green slime was following one of the other Lords. It was larger than One and had many small bubbles moving inside its body.

Carlos couldn’t tell what kind of slime it was but it was definitely not a Blue Water Slime.

The troop that surprised him the most was a walking plant covered with thick thorns. It had two root-like legs and moved slowly behind a woman.

’So someone else has plant troops too...’

Carlos wanted to inspect it but stopped himself. Staring too much would tell the other Lord that he was interested.

None of these troops were useless. Some even looked strong, but they were still alone or standing beside one more troop exactly like them.

And then there was Carlos with four different troops, a better armor than most and a strange chain wrapped around his arm.

If he was in their place, he would be curious too.

But that didn’t mean he was going to answer them.

Kaia moved to his left while Brann took the right side. Nessa watched the hands of anyone who came closer and One moved in front of Carlos.

The slime’s body changed a little.

"Don’t use Water Shot unless I tell you," Carlos spoke quietly. But many noticed the slime in attacking mode and stepped back. Situational awareness was a good thing to have.

Cosmic came forward and raised both of his hands.

"ALRIGHT GUYS. I know you all are excited but he just arrived, give him some space to breathe."

"So did we all. Are you from his territory?" Someone asked.

Cosmic glanced at Carlos before shaking his head.

"No, But I am his best friend"

"Ugh, seriously bro? Thats so cringe" Carlos almost winced in embarrassment when he saw Cosmic shouting that in front of them all.

Carlos felt good hearing that but he didn’t show it on his face.

The questions moved toward Cosmic next. One Lord offered him Copper Coins for information about Carlos while another said he could give an Uncommon blueprint for a proper introduction.

It seemed as though all attention went to him and people forgot Carlos who was still standing there.

Cosmic looked offended.

"You think his secrets are only worth Copper Coins? At least insult us with Silver Coins next time." He shouted shamelessly.

Many Lords started speaking at once after hearing that. Carlos looked at Cosmic and saw a small grin on his face. He was distracting them.

Kaia had already opened a path through the crowd and Carlos started moving with his group. Cosmic and his Lizardmen followed right behind them.

By the time people noticed, they had already created some distance.

"Wait!"

"Lord Carlos, I have an Uncommon barrack!"

"I can pay you for protection!"

Carlos ignored all of them.

He didn’t know these people and adding any of them would reveal his troops and abilities. They would also ask for a share of everything he found.

Carlos had finally met Cosmic too. He was not going to waste their first hour together by talking to strangers who only cared about his ranking.

When he looked back, a few Lords were still watching them. Most of their eyes were on his troops rather than him.

That was fine.

If they wanted to follow him for an easy reward, it was better for them to know that it wouldn’t be easy.

The stone road was wide enough for many carriages to move together but there was not a single one in sight. Silver pillars were placed on both sides after equal distances and each of them had glowing symbols.

Carlos touched the closest one.

--

[Central Arrival Road]

[Northern Route: Glasswood Basin]

[Eastern Route: Ruined Aqueduct]

[Southern Route: Red Prairie]

[Western Route: Untranslated Settlement]

[Distance information unavailable]

--

"Glasswood sounds expensive," Cosmic spoke right away.

"The settlement could have people or buildings," Kaia said. "It will also have places for others to hide."

Nessa looked toward the black hills. "Everyone will choose the routes that sound valuable."

Cosmic was surprised that Carlos’s troops were speaking their mind and were intelligent too. Then he looked at his lizardmen who were looking around to find dangers instead.

But Nessa was right. Many groups were already moving north after seeing the Glasswood Basin. The western path had a large number too because everyone wanted to find a settlement.

The aqueduct route had fewer people, but it wasn’t empty. Carlos could see several groups moving east while some others were already returning from that direction with nothing in their hands.

"We go east," Carlos decided.

Cosmic looked at the route and then at him.

"Do you even know what an acueduct is?"

"I don’t know, my instincts are telling me to get there"

Cosmic sighed and explained, "An aqueduct is kind of like a bridge for carrying water across one place to another, though I can be wrong."

"Then lets go and see what that is atleast"

They all agreed and made their way forward.

The eastern path left the stone road and entered the red grass. The grass reached Brann’s waist and each plant had narrow golden seeds growing on the top.

Carlos only walked for a few minutes before stopping.

"Its like crop follows you around bro, look at all this." Cosmic said.

Carlos grabbed one of the seed heads and rubbed it between his fingers. Its shell broke and three dark-red grains fell in his palm.

--

[Crimson Fodder Grass]

[Common Grade]

[A hardy prairie grass suitable for feeding several grazing territory residents]

[Bitter when eaten by humans]

[Cultivation Requirements: Open soil, strong light and limited water]

[Warning: Spreads rapidly when planted near ordinary crops]

--

It wasn’t an amazing crop and Ironroot didn’t have any grazing animals right now.

"Why is there a crop like this here? And what will the common lords do with crops like this? Why is it even here to bein with?" Carlos asked questions in confusion. What was crops even doing here.

"I don’t know but look there" Cosmis pointed at some lords that were cutting the grass by the ground nad putting them inside their inventory in bulk.

"I think even if it says its bitter for us, people are keeping it like food for bad times with them. That is important for all. But it is strange. WE might be going to a good place if the start is like this."

Carlos still collected some seeds and placed them inside a different pouch.

There might be grazing residents in his territory later and Rowan might find another use for the grass. Carlos also removed one plant with its roots and kept some soil around it.

Cosmic crouched and started collecting the seeds too.

"Also planning for bad times?" Carlos asked jokingly.

But Cosmic smiled and kept collecting instead.

"You sold cooked potatoes for Iron Ore, bro. I am confident you find something for this with your farmer friend too"

"At that time, I would want to have a stock too."

For Carlos, it mde sense and his troops were also looking at Cosmic as if he was very impressive.

Brann pulled an entire clump out of the ground while Nessa laughed at him.

They continued moving east for almost an hour. White insects jumped between the red grass while some large creatures flew very high in the green sky.

They panicked looking at them in the start and wanted to fight but the creatures were minding their own business and they were planning to do the same, atleast for now.

The land slowly moved downward and the grass became shorter. A pale stone structure soon became visible in front of them.

The aqueduct was broken in many places but some parts were still higher than Ironroot’s walls. There were dry channels on the top and dead silver vines covered its arches.

Cosmic looked up at it.

"That is one big aqueduct, just how much water did these guys need?"

Carlos touched the closest stone and tried to inspect it.

The system didn’t show him the stone’s description.

Instead, another notification appeared.
